  1. I hadn't bought a programme in years but thought I'd give your new publication a go. Unlike some of the other posters I thought it was an excellent read. It was well balanced with all the best elements of programmes down the years eg piece on the opposition, player links between the clubs, playing squad and fixtures table etc. I liked the featured articles on Chris Garland and Brian Clark and the down memory lane pieces, particularly what we were reading. My favourite back when I was a teenager was Goal magazine and had every issue, including the pilot issue, from it's first publication in 1968 until it finished in 1974. I wish I still had them now. Keep up the good work. I look forward to the next issue.
  2. Amazingly Keira Walsh is back in training and if she comes through a fitness test today she will be available for selection against Nigeria.
  3. That was in answer to my question on the match day thread following the errant report on the BBC, which is usually reliable. Does anyone know the number of Preston fans at the game. If not i will have to wait until it comes up on fans banter.
  4. I note that Joe Porton, released by City this summer, was man of the match in Melksham Town's 4-2 away win at Cowes Sports in the FA Cup preliminary round.
  5. BBC site has attendance wrong. They've recorded 29,359 which is above capacity. Anybody have the actual attendance and the numbers from Preston?
  6. Yes mine's changed too now. Oh well! Provided I can get in for Birmingham as easily as I did today there'll be nothing to worry about. It certainly was smoother than the supporters club where they had to call in the techs twice to sort out problems with their new payment system.
  7. Not a great day for me. Just prior to kick-off my mate gives me a, chocolate éclair toffee and I lose a filling. God knows when I can get that sorted. Then I sit through a tepid game where the only plusses were Bell, Vyner and the fact we didn't get beat which we would of done against a more clinical side. The wind did spoil it though and worse things happen at sea so on to Millwall and, hopefully, a better performance.
  8. Fair enough if that what's you feel but I just think if an acceptable offer had been made we'd of heard it. Pearson isn't one to feign injuries If he'd been fit he'd have played.
  9. Same here. Just wonder if it ticks around to the next home game, at some point or will it always, read Preston.
  10. 2+2=5, they didn't land on the moon and Diana was hit after a contract was placed on her by the Royal Family.
  11. Even if he signed for someone tomorrow is he likely to play for another 4-6 weeks? I've no doubt he's kept up a decent level of fitness through a personal programme but how match sharp can he be both physically and mentally having been away from football for so long.?
  12. I'm hoping his experience at Swindon last season will see him do better at Forest Green. Although he's young he may have to in order to have a long term future at City.
  13. I expect Leeson and Taylor-Clarke to get a squad number as the season progresses but serious game time will probably mean we've had some serious injuries. I'm not sure I expect Pearson, Kadji, Idehen and Bajic to be around post January
  14. Being pedantic if they were numbered alphabetically wouldn't they be A-Z, Aa, Bb etc I just don't think the numbering counts for much anymore across most clubs in England. Tanner is numbered 19 but I expect him to play more often at right back than McCrorie who is 2. King at 10 won't be a regular starter over Knight who is 12. Neither Conway or Wells have been given 9 and both are likely to start more often than Cornick who has that shirt.
  15. Too much is read into squad numbers. While the lack of numbers for some of our youngsters could mean some are going to be loaned out it could just as easily mean theyre going to mainly play in the U21s. They will get a squad number if and when they're called up to the 1st team squad, as has been the case in previous seasons.
  16. 3 wishes for tomorrow. 1) the ST downloaded to my Wallet actually works and I get in the ground 2) Antoni doesn't spoil the day and the weather behaves 3) we win
  17. Perhaps TC should merit the Top Cat theme tune Top Cat The indesputable leader of the gang He's the boss, he's the pip, He's the Championship, He's the most tip top, Top Cat
  18. If Alex is sold (and I still hope he won't be) while I would love to have the full transfer fee up front as has been pointed out by many on here that isn't going to happen, so come the end of the window we won't have £25M in the bank just the first instalment of whatever the payment plan is.
  19. Are those who believe that something sinister must be happening about the Scott situation because they've not seen his picture in City promotional content the same people who were convinced Paul McCartney was dead because he was walking barefoot across the zebra crossing on the Abbey Road album cover.
  20. For me this has always been a safety issue rather than a line of sight one. Most people who want to stand go towards the back and those who don't usually gravitate towards the front. The sight problem is the rare occasion when it's reserved seating and the stewards insist you sit in line with your ticket. There can however be a genuine safety issue. While it is not true of every ground the angle of pitch in some stands is so severe to raise real safety concerns. Barnsley, in the OP post is not too bad (although the depth of the steps in the away end is high) but Coventry is like climbing the north face of the Eiger. Not relevant to us currently but the upper level of Bramhall Lane, the top rows of the Etihad or St James Park and the back of the temporary stands at Priest field are other examples. Standing at your own risk is not a valid argument so those clubs who don't look towards rail seating may need to apply more forceful stewarding in future if their not to get in trouble with the authorities down the line.
  21. Difficult one with Araoye. Nige often likes to keep players close to the 1st team around the club so their development can be better managed. Knight-Lebel is also in this bracket. One could be loaned out, but not both. I suspect however they will be the centre back pairing in the U21s.
  22. Biggest hassle is the timing of the matches. If you're a regular away supporter it is mostly cheaper to watch a game in the PL than the Championship. 4 games less and with a higher percentage in London and the South also makes for cheaper travel costs.
  23. If he's here he plays and Alex wouldn't want it any other way. He's all about playing football matches. Unless you're trying to protect aggravating an injury the player already has I don't hold with wrapping players up in cotton wool. It is possible a player gets injured playing but it's not a particularly high risk. He might just as easily get hurt in his flat as tge majority of accidents happen in the home.
