  1. The All Blacks are back. The scoreline suggests Italy have been woeful, and perhaps they were for the Savea try, but the speed and accuracy of the All Black attack has been mind blowing. 70 points plus on the cards here.
  2. I'm sorry for Scunthorpe but am I surprised, not really. Any dodgy dealer can buy a football club now. The football authorities have no adequate safeguards to prevent such transactions and even less heart or authority to do something about it. The thing is this is no joke. Football is the national sport, and more than that football clubs are a vital amenity to the local community. I would have the National Audit Office undertake a root and branch review of football finances, the rules that govern them and how they are administered and applied. I would have no truck with cries of government interference from FIFA or UEFA on the grounds that it is not purely a football matter but a community matter and that we will not take notice of organisations that handle more brown envelopes than the Post Office.
  3. It's defined by history for me, although winning a European trophy helps as it puts a club on the global stage (but it's not essential). It's certainly not about money. Johnny come lately's like Manchester City will never be a bigger club than Manchester United and Chelsea will never be bigger than the Arsenal. As for Bristol City we pray for high spits to come but we'll never be bigger than the likes of Southampton, Leeds, Burnley or Forest.
  4. I don't particularly like Delilah either but at least it is a British song and it ain't the bloody annoying You'll never walk alone or Sweet Caroline.
  5. A lot less than Frankie Fielding % when he played for us.
  6. The southern hemisphere sides are not showing well. I've now doubt that the All Blacks will qualify for the QFs but they need to improve their performance if they're to have any chance of winning the cup. Argentina are currently 4th in the group and Australia were simply woeful against Wales last night, a team playing defensive rugby by not playing in their own half but taking advantage of opposition mistakes. They should have been beaten by Fiji but weren't. South Africa were my pre-tournament favourites but they're not converting. For all Ireland's solid play the Boks left 11 points on the kicking tee. Improvement needed but honestly I can't see past France right now to become world champions.
  7. That's 5 past the ex Swindle keeper with half an hour to go.
  8. Agreed. The shot is on target and he's blocked it with his hand.
  9. I'm with EE and it's OK when not many are in but it's distinctly worse than my old O2 contract when the ground is full. I don't know if the problem is with us as users though or City as the provider. My connectivity was so much better when the WiFi was Z Edge or whatever than its is now.
  10. But we need a chair man. Someone to put them out before the meeting starts and then stack them away after it's finished. A job that JL is perfect for.
  11. I'm very pleased for you, the fans and the club. If I can help out in some small way in the future I will endeavour (oblique Oxford reference) to do so.
  12. Yes it could have been better, but it can always be better. We could have scored more. Bell and Sykes should both of had two on the night. But we won 4-1. As I said elsewhere moaning is the national sport.
  13. This is England. Moaning is the national sport.
  14. In a shock move Neil Warnock is to be named the new CEO after he resigned from managing Huddersfield.
  15. Last 15 minutes was better but we have to show more attacking ability if we are to go deep in the tournament. We kicked the ball away so much that up to the 70th minute the England Centres only carried the ball 5 times between them. That was as lucky a bonus point win as you will see. Farrell to come in for Ford against Chile in Lille, if only to give him game time. Must secure another bonus point win before facing a physical Samoa side.
  16. This is rubbish from England. Passing so imprecise and the kicking tennis is like watching a game from 15 years ago. Just as I write this England get lucky as Marler uses is head, literally.
  17. Thankfully we don't have VAR so extra time doesn't need to be added after the plonker in the VAR booth took 6+minutes to arrive at an incorrect decision.
  18. Where are people hearing the 'noise' from the Atyeo from. As someone who sits about two thirds of the way up in the South Stand (row 23) I never hear a peeo from the Atyeo.
  19. Is that what it is? I thought it was a pattern of water melons.
  20. You obviously haven't heard a lot. Most football commentators and analysts of the 1960s had Bobby Charlton as the best midfielder of the age. As for Rooney I never said he had a low IQ, I said it was the perception as he was constantly lampooned in the media regarding his (lack of) intelligence and was the butt of many a comedians jokes. He does have a languid method of speech which may have given rise to the perception. Personally, given his career I actually think he's quite astute.
  21. That just means that the selectors were thick, not them. After all, Steve Stone has caps too.
  22. I don't necessarily think Rooney is thick, he's had the wherewithall to carve out a good career, but he's generally perceived as not being the sharpest knife in the drawer having on several occasions not engaged his brain before opening his mouth or taking an action. He's not the only one with Ashley Cole, John Terry, Paul Gascoigne and Jack Grealish instantly coming to mind. There are plenty of others but whether they are thick or just stupid is open to debate.
