  1. No probably about it. Put simply he's the greatest footballer this country has ever produced. Between 1962 and 1970 he was widely regarded by players, managers and others involved in football as the best central midfielder in the world. Other contemporary greats of the game such as Pele and Beckenbauer waxed lyrical about him, not just for his footballing ability but also his on field and off field behaviour. He won the Ballon D'Or in 1966 and was runner up in both 1967 and 68. There should be a national day of mourning for his passing. Rest in Peace Sir Bobby, simply the best. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and the football community world wide.
  2. Interesting. I can understand the forward changes but fear the perseverance with Mitchell us a mistake. I can see Reinach with his electric pace putting his box kicking under tremendous pleasure and would have gone for the experienced Care. Steward is the correct call having been inexplicably left out of the squad for the QF, a position that Marcus Smith now finds himself in.
  3. This really should be titled Millwall fans will never change (I hesitate to call them supporters). Millwall have tried hard to change their image and I don't really know what more they can do as a club, other than move from south London.
  4. As a City player I always remember him as an emerging talent and exciting wide player that got a shock move to Liverpool. I remember him playing for Luton but lost sight of him after that.
  5. Great friend of Denis Law and one of my favourites back in the day. Rest in Peace Crunch! Sincere condolences at all family and friends.
  6. I feel currently we could beat the Boks. I didn't fancy us at all against France in a noisy vehement Stade Francais.
  7. No they couldn't. I admit I was one of those who doubted we'd get out of the group but England have surprised me. They are flying the flag for the northern hemisphere and can beat the Boks.
  8. Wow! What a game! I expected France would win but the holders are resurgent. Should be hell of a semi final but will the stadium be full now?
  9. I'm not sure anyone has. But aren't they soft on marks these days. Back in my youth you had to catch the ball while the heel of your foot was fully planted on the ground, now they just seem to catch the ball and wave an arm in the air.
  10. Any concerns that the 4th QF wouldn't match the excitement of the first 3 are well and truly dispelled. At half time it's the best of the lot. Superb rugby from both sides
  11. I'd go along with that. Smith is a 10 not a fullback where I feel he takes too many risks. Steward is superb under the high ball of which there is likely to be a lot from our semi final opponents.
  12. Much better from England with Ben Earl immense. They'll have to up their game again against either France (probably) or South Africa. Please start Danny Care over Mitchell.
  13. Simon Doull has a theory that Woakes doesn't travel well, particularly moving around on internal flights.
  14. Very average from England. The spinners bowled well but the pace bowlers threw down some right rubbish at times. With Pakistan's crushing defeat by India yesterday this should of been a walk in the park for England to go fourth with an improved run rate, but there's a game on now with the Afghan spin attack.
  15. There were enough of them out there. Aaron Smith, Brodie Rettalick, Cody Taylor, Ardea Savea, Beauden Barrett, Sam Whitelock coming on all players who were nominated (in the top 3 in their position) for the best All Blacks of all time.
  16. What a game. World no.1s against the legends of the game, and the legends came out on top. With Argentina also winning today it's no surprise that as we get to the sharp end of the world cup the Southern Hemisphere comes out swinging.
  17. I'd much sooner see Scotland make the Euros for us to beat them than not be there.
  18. It's good for a Wednesday night. We probably wouldn't take 500 to Ipswich for a midweek fixture or sell out our allocation.
  19. Pre premier league, when football was football, Liverpool had a very successful spell promoting from their 'boot room'. Was that succession planning or just doing it on the cheap?
  20. Not in 'spoons at the' hammersmith end.
  21. In fairness he'll then put four times that in the charity jar dahn the boozah plus his winnings from spoof.
  22. I'd expect someone who's come up through our Academy to do well in L1 but getting rave reviews at Wycombe is a long way from the standard required to perform at a consistently high level in the Championship each week.
  23. Grammar police here: As both Robins (as in Mark) and Coventry (as in the City) are proper nouns they should start with a capital letter.
  24. Where would they film the documentaries? The backdrop of a half built stadium doesn't look good.
