    That's a blow for Tommy

Might be the reality check he needs. If he was half the player he thinks he is, he would surely be in the squad.

Taking away his penalties, his goal tally last season was underwhelming. He needs to get back to the fast and aggressive player he was when he first came into the first team.

In a bid to reduce their overheads, Jim R has announced Manchester United player's families can attend the Cup Final at Wembley, but they'll have to pay their own fare.

How much to provide a 53 seater coach Manchester - London and return?

I think the expectation would be more like limo to the airport, private jet to Luton, limo to the ground, overnight at the Ritz then same return travel mode.

Watched it last night . Had forgotten just how bad the scenes were on Olympic way. Remember now we saw some kids chucking glass bottles as far as they could just ‘into the crowd’, for no reason whatsoever. Shocking. Amazing more people weren’t badly injured .

Wembley is a nightmare to police because

It is badly served by public transport

Becomes gridlocked if you try to come by car or coach

Is right in the middle of a commercial and residential area making it hard to have any sort of restrictions like only selling light beer.

Has almost everyone arriving and leaving down one wide road (a terrorists dream)

This stadium should have been in the centre of the country next to the NEC where links by road rail and air are excellent. As this area is fairly isolated it would be far easier to police and create special conditions.

Didn’t we not sign him last summer due to injury concerns?

Could it be that those injury concerns remain - we’ve jumped on the deal because we think he’s good, but once he’s “in the building” have found that he’s got something more chronic that was indicated but not confirmed fully in the medical?

Thats the most plausible thing I can think. As @Harry says, the “pre season” in itself seems nonsense - yes LOI is a far lower standard but as an 18 year old footballer he should have a decent level of inherent fitness and you’d hope that it wasn’t so far behind our 21s that he can’t even play there - particularly as we played a load of 18s yesterday!

I’m going for it having been a judgement call on - not fitness - but a “condition”, and we may have got that wrong in our desire to do the deal.

All of this guesswork would be unnecessary if the club just communicated in a more open and credible way.

The thing is though sticks and you know better than most from your experience of watching England , it’s not reallyEngland fans now is it , not even hooligans,  it seems more like lads in town on a Saturday night or a lads weekend away in Benidorm it’s all a bit of a jolly for them .
any of the easy places to get Netherlands , Germany , Spain , Portugal they will be there in there droves

Macedonia, Belarus , Turkey , Greece  then you get the true England-fans back again

I am just so depressed that a growing number of our society seem to have no personal pride, no morale compass, no sense of right and wrong and the "I was off my head" excuse seems to make everything Ok.

We are an embarrassment abroad. I regularly fly for work and you see groups of people 3 or 4 pints in at 6am just about to board a flight. It seems that many cannot consider having a good time without being hammered or construct a sentence without at least 2, 4 letter words even when families with kids are close by.

When you see the videos from Ibiza, Majorca, Cyprus etc it seems like people forget any idea of decency. Girls are laying in the road drunk, half undressed and then wonder why things don't go well for them later on.

I would like to see a new law of bringing your country into disrepute. In this way when people play up on flights or generally disgrace us on holiday the local police can ship them home to get a huge fine and a long period of working clearing up the mess they make.

We have always had people who behave badly but numbers are growing too much.

He’s definitely been showing the form of why City signed him.  Hamstring injuries restricted his game time last season otherwise we’d have appreciated sooner what a class Championship midfielder he is. When he signed he came with a decent reputation and now we know why.

He’s become an essential part on the midfield and Manning/Tinnion should do all they can to offer him another contract - 2+1 surely must be doable..Of course Williams might not want to stay in which case he’d be very difficult to replace.

We need his bit of nastiness and winding up skills. Must be good in the dressing room too

I'd have no issue with a 2 year deal, he would play until age 34..elder statesman in the squad.

Naismith, Cornick and Wells are senior pros, King is surely heading outward..although if he can be kept on in a coaching capacity I wouldn't object.

King, James, Weimann all leaving at once albeit Weimann 6 months in advance seem a a bit of  risk to me.

If King goes and in the absence of Weimann, James would become the elder statesman of the squad.

I would prefer to keep James and lose Cornick any day

Wednesday night, Cribbs vs Bristol Manor Farm in the Southern League Div 1 playoffs.

A couple of miles between the clubs and no love lost either.

When they met at Cribbs in August the hosts came off the victors, but Farm were aggrieved over several decisions in that game including 2 penalty decisions and a red card incident.

A month or so later they met again in the league cup at Manor Farm, this time a draw but Cribbs got the job done on penalties.

They played at Farm again in March. A packed out Creek making lots of noise saw a comfortable win for the home side who have been on a run of 9 wins in 11 games to make the playoffs.

Wednesday night they meet for the 4th time this season, with the highest stakes of the lot.

If anyone is wanting a bit more football before the season ends and doesn't like the interference of things like VAR I would absolutely recommend going down there for it even as a neutral.

    7.45pm KO

Mods- I know we have the non league thread, but would appreciate it if this was kept separate for a couple of days to see if it gets any interest.

I thought for one magical moment that the Gloucester cup was coming back. Used to be one of my favourite games of the year

I wouldn’t get too excited if I were you.  Credit to Manning on how he’s now starting to get the results and some consistency and he’s doing a very decent job.

Don’t forget that he isn’t the problem though.  We’re Bristol City and to bring in a couple of new faces in the summer, we could easily lose several of our top players to fund it, to avoid cracking open the nest egg.

We’re perenially mid-table for a reason, and I just can’t see past us in 12 months time lamenting the sale of players X,Y & Z and contemplating what we could have achieved if we’d kept them.

I’d love to be proved wrong, but I just don’t see SL resisting the chance of increasing the nest egg and I think that’s far more important to him than a push for the Premier League.

Hard to understand how he is increasing his nest egg when we are making a loss each year.

His best game for us today

I just hope that unlike many, his form stays if he gets a long term contract. I remember a certain Tomlin performance at the last home game one year with the whole crowd singing sign him up. Look how that ended.

I will also say that gambling is not a way of making money. It's very unpredictable and addictive. And if you are not cold-minded and experienced enough, you can start losing, losing big. Moreover, this can get you into a loop where you want to win your money back but won't succeed.

Just like drugs, don't start something that you cannot control

He's not said anything publicly that indicates he wants to stay, has allegedly developed an ego after seeing Scott move. Would be very surprised if he signs a new deal.

I think the ego is evident on the field where he can often be seen giving instructions to others whilst producing very little himself.

I’d be surprised if TC doesn’t wait to see if there is any interest from other clubs.

Where do you think he could end up? I cannot imagine him attracting interest from any of the current Championship top 6. If he goes elsewhere in the division it would be for a bit more money and a sideways move.

For me he has not, particularly this season shown enough to get a bigger move. Perhaps playing in a 2 would suit him more.

I would sign a 2 year deal and try to improve enough to catch a better move.

I’ve made no secret that I’ve got little time for the Lansdown’s or Tinnion, especially after recent events.

I well remember Tinnion commenting after getting the Manager post that he ‘knew what fans wanted and would be working towards that’, or words to that effect.  With the current lack of involvement by the SLO, someone at the club needs to make the effort to show they actually want to engage with the fanbase, rather than treat us as outsiders and largely irrelevant.

This would now be a chance for Tinnion to walk the walk and actually prove how well he really does know the fanbase and start bringing some very disconnected fans back on board.

As you say, regarding the Atyeo, there could be issues with FA cup games, though we aren’t usually in that competition for long anyway!

Potential safe standing at the back of the SS is another subject that should come into play, particularly with the changes around no more new ST’s being allowed in that stand.  Potential to introduce some safe standing would also provide some justification for those ST changes.  It would also help foster the home advantage and atmosphere.

It would be nice to see these things now being treated with some importance, rather than some tentative meetings that could drag on for ages before any decisions are made.

Get our singing section out of that bloody corner

Clearly there will be a “transfer fee” Burnley paid £4m for him, they aren’t giving him away.

I think he’s done ok but certainly wouldn’t pay anything like the amount that’s being quoted.

Let’s see how the summer unfolds, my guess is he’ll start next season as our player, time will tell.

Spends too much energy moaning to the ref for my liking

    Cancel culture at its best

Somebody makes a post that you don't like. Rather than posting a counter opinion or just agreeing to disagree and ignore the post it is necessary to hound said poster out of the forum.

Surely this is against the purpose of a forum. A place where you exchange views. For me rather than trying to force a poster to leave the forum, people who cannot accept a view that is different from theirs should leave.

Look fairly decent when we go forward, but twice just been done with defensive disaster classes.

It drives me crazy when we are around their box when nobody wants to shoot or cross the ball. Its pass pass pass or try the clever flick that comes off 1 time in 100.  Its so congested in there any decent shot has the chance of a defection. If the shot is blocked we have as much chance to pick up the rebound as they do. If every team continues this obsession with playing on the break I can see after kick off that both teams retreat into their block and everybody forgets the ball all together.

It is so refreshing when you see a team like Liverpool try to score each time they get possession. They get the ball into the danger zone with the minimum of passes and love the high percentage long ball. It just wears defences down. I fear that with Klopps departure this one ray of hope will also go.

I accept that my advancing years probably makes me cynical but with all this focus on "technical" play the game as an exciting form of entertainment is failing.

I'm not sure what he's seen in our performances that I/we haven't 🤔

His approach seems to be all over the place. Like you said, he's been going on and on about getting players on the grass and coaching them and then gets them to do physical work! Whilst at the same time saying the players needed a bit of a break. Even more bizarre when you consider that we now play a less intense game as we no longer press from the front.

Bizarre that we are focusing on fitness work in almost April.

He came to the club as the next Pep. Having read his manual from front to back 5 times, he can see that at this level it just doesn't work. In the absence of a new manual he is screwed, the players know he is screwed and its just a case of how long JL and BT can convince themselves they are right with this choice. Pride before a fall and all that
