And Saka - Another wonderkid and influential

Foden will do more and more for England

If we can find a successor to Harry - imagine the potential for the next couple of World Cups and Euros !

    Rico Lewis , Palmer ......

Its never looked so good now and for the forthcoming years for England

For me Foden is still all about potential in an England shirt. He so far has not reached the sort of level he has for his club. Also Kalvin Phillips is not the answer in midfield. Too negative and a lose canon likely to get wound up and sent off in big games. Apart from that I thought we were great. Bellingham is just so talented but also so committed. Future Captain for sure.

Awful fayre! We lose best part of 2 weeks football for this yawnfest...

I just don't get it, when we play lower grade teams we adopt walking football pace. Clearly the Aussies wanted to defend deep and when we need 30 passes to get over halfway just plays into their hands.

150M Is around 15% of his wealth?  I might consider putting 15% of my savings into a project, if I was having fun?  PS. And Pray tell? Who are these low life's in baseball caps you are demeaning from your soapbox?

From my soapbox, I refer to the new owners of Everton.

Only the OP can explain but I assume they mean that Q&A from rugby fans will be more genteel, more friendly- easier ride than us given the activity post Scott and the sense of drift.

I really am at a loss regarding the criticism of SL. He has poured lots of his own money into the club writing off huge sums. We are still not profitable and so each year he has to write a cheque. Who of us if we won the Euro millions would take on a club where after 5 years we would be broke. Clearly people of this wealth become involved in sport as a hobby. A very expensive one at that. It seems he has played enough with the toy and wants to sell it, quite understandably but is not pitching it to every low life in a baseball cap. Clearly we are now more saleable than we were under Ashton and LJ. And hopefully we will reduce our losses to the point where a good buyer can be found.

I ask 2 questions. What other owner since Harry Dolman has done a better job?

Given a lottery win of £150 million would you plough this into BCFC?

Great keeper.  Find memories of his heroics in goal .  Most of the time the playing surface was just mud , I wonder how goal keepers could cope with those conditions now.

Great Guy too. He used to take our team for training on Friday evenings at AG to earn a few quid. Always joined in the five a side on the carpark

So the Sykes challenge , because it was boot to boot , was not a Pen.
So, a challenge, by a defender, which he has no contact with the ball but his boot has contact with the strikers boot ?
    AKA Trip ?

I want to see the same explanation saying Prings was, elbow to throat and so does not constitute a Pen as it was clearly against Bristol City

I want to hear their explanation for the assault on Bell last night

Whilst it would be a fantastic moment to win promotion, I just want to see the club being a competitive force week in week out.

Sounds odd, but as we’ve haven’t troubled the playoffs since 2008 there’s not much basis that it’s going to happen anytime soon.

Until we start seeing the consistency required for a promotion run, I wouldn’t even think about it.

When I see Sheffield Utd and Burnley losing game after game I wonder unless you have owners with very deep pockets or parachute payments still valid, if the gap has become to great to bridge.

  8. 19 hours ago, Superjack said:

    Indeed.

    Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Would be interesting if SL sold the club to the fans. Clearly a few would have to buy big chunks of shares but the rest would be held by the 20,000 regulars. I wonder:

How many would put their hand in their pocket to buy the shares

How many would accept zero % return on their investment each year

How many would be happy to be continually asked to put their hand in their pocket to top up the coffers to cover our yearly loss.

How we could ever agree on anything such as a new manager

If we would still hear call for big spending

We’d be making a huge mistake to let Pearson leave at the end of this season IMO.

Wages are under control, he’s starting to get some money to spend and it’s a critical time for the club’s future with the Scott money and Lansdown potentially looking for outside investment. I’d want no one else to guide us through this next couple of years.

I think its less a case off us keeping him or him saying he's had enough and wants to get started on the bucket list. I would seriously hope that SL and our CEO are at least preparing for that eventuality already.

Not writing it off but something feels unnervingly stagnant with the club at the moment.

If we sell our best and recruit from league 1 and Ireland mid table looks like an achievement

Tanner was poor going forward on Sat, but in the past he's been very effective. For whatever reason neither  Tanner/Cornick nor Cam/Bell worked as partnerships on Sat.

The good news is that we have competition I'm most positions so if things don't improve we have other options.

When Tanner had the ball, too often Connick was behind his man and there was no ball inside.

Overall our lack of off the ball movement reminded me so much of early last year.

We moaned at the amount of passing along the back line but with no one showing for a pass to feet they had to hoof it long.

I hope this is fixed far quicker this year than last

  12. 17 minutes ago, SuperRed said:

Preston had clearly done their homework and nullified Pring going forward through Browne and Potts. They were happy for Tanner to be free knowing that he offers little going forward. Hopefully McCrorie at right back will give us another attacking dimension.

Watching the championship highlights it struck me how many non UK players were involved and in many cases proving the flair for their team. We seem to focus on Scotland and leagues 1 and 2 for our recruitment. Typically at best we get young players who can improve or quite average players who can fill a role. If you consider our recent recruitment there have been few players who can really make a big difference. Nige has built a team on mainly good reliable professionals. If they are well organised and well motivated they should secure a mid table finish. I think given the financial restraints this would be seen as mission accomplished.

The question is what happens at the end of this season. Will Nige want another 2 years? Will our better players be happy to stay at a team with medium ambition.

For me the only way we can really improve is to spend money on a class recruitment team that spreads the net far wider. Having steadied the ship, if Scott does go for big money I think investment in the recruitment team would be a very positive step.

Clearly Vardy is past his best years, but I suspect he will be more than decent in the championship (assuming he stays with Leicester or moves to another Championship club)

I suspect wages would be an issue for us even if he lowered his current demands - I'd also imagine there are some at our club (and some fans) that don't want the complete circus this would bring.

Wouldn't want the side show of his missus in the background

Wrong club at the wrong time for me. We're in the middle of a rebuild and he doesn't fit the structure in which We're heading. There's a player there but someone else will see the benefit of him. Unfortunately not us.

Would be good back in France where you get hours on the ball and tackling is banned

If he had second thoughts and decided not to sign then logically his first thought would have been to sign. Otherwise his first thought would have been the same as his second thought so he wouldn't have needed to have second thoughts.

Those are my first thoughts but I may yet have second thoughts.?

Never go back, how often has a returning player after long absence worked out.

Good luck Joe and thanks for the memories
