I think the ref was in two minds and was almost pleading the linesman to help him out. The bloke just stood their with vacant eyes.

Linesmen today do nothing except offside. Whenever the ball goes out they look to see which way the ref gives it and then put their flag up.

Looks like Williams is going mental, pointing and running towards Weimann after the 3rd goal.

If Weimann is right wing back at that point of the game and Klose is up front for us, then surely he has to defend.

2nd goal Weimann lets Ntcham go. Scott is up front, so really important Weimann covers him. He sees Ntcham's run but delays going with him and  then can't catch him.

And even the 1st. If Weimann goes with the midfield as a unit then he might well have been there to pick up the loose ball after Vyner gets a touch.

Christie has so much time there to collect the ball.

Obviously other individual errors at the back too. Vyner doesnt read the game at times like a centre back should.

But we don't defend as a team. Pearson said this last week we need to defend as a team, but he's not changing anything.

Weimann can only play up front. Here is energy and running are effective

In midfield he charges around with no positional discipline.

DaSilva seems simply to switch off for short periods as does Vyner.

I think in the perfect world NP would not play both Scott and Massengo in centre mid because both are attack minded and lack positional discipline.

We have the players we have. They do not have a winning instinct and have become too used to coming second. This will not improve as our season drags to a close with nothing really to play for.

If we are to lose one of our young stars this summer... Massengo, Scott or Semenyo, which one do you think would be easiest to cope with?

It's a tough decision but i think i'd cash in on Massengo if we're offered a decent fee (contract length is also a factor)

Alex Scott is getting better week by week and i am excited to see if Antoine can continue his progress. IF Williams can stay fit, we've got another very good option in midfield alongside Scott and James.

Hopefully we can keep all 3 but if we're being realistic it's unlikely, so what do you all think?

I think this summer is too early to sell. At the moment we would be selling potential. In 1 years time we could be selling the finished product for twice the price and enjoying a year of their service

Tomlin has been on record that his weight / mental health have been linked. Let’s hope he doesn’t read this thread.

    Not cool tbh

Could be linked to the fact he is a lazy money grabbing git too, who could never be bothered to move home to be closer to the team he played for.

Wasn't aware that wasterism was now a mental health issue

An utter clown, to add to the list of utter clowns that we've been subjected to recently.

Back to the old days of fall over for a foul. At one point he told the Reading player to move a free kick back and pointed to the spot. The player moves about 1 metre and took the kick and the ref played on.

Zero authority and zero respect from the players. Disgrace for this level

Can’t disagree with that although I still feel more confident with Bentley between the sticks.

Bentley should use this time out of the team by working on coming off the line for crosses and his distribution

Not enough to be a shot stopper any more

What could Bentley have done last night that Max didn't?

I know he has a thread already, but I wanted to talk about just one aspect of Saturdays performance. I have seen players using "stepovers" so often in recent years, and thought how little effect they seem to have, other than to often bamboozle themselves rather than the opponent.

I have watched that 2nd goal a few times now and I don't think I have ever seen it used so effectively. Han breezed past their player so easily it was almost embarrassing, it was as effective as Cruyff's great turn or the "Walshy shuffle".

It's rare to see a player beaten and being left facing the wrong direction and that moment deserves to be a meme for years to come.

These things make the season ticket worth buying

Agreed. Here is how I think it might play out FWIW.

We submit our Projections in March as usual, and our actual for last season. We will be fine until 2021 and 2022.

The problem may well arise when it comes to the Future Financial Information for the period ending in 2023 and 2024..

Once it rolls into the period that ends next season ie:

Combined Average- 2019/20 and 2020/21- Actual

Accounts- 2021/22- Projection in March, pretty much updated in June/July time. Close to real.

The challenge for us then will be to fill the FFP hole that is set to arise in 2022/23 or face a deduction perhaps in Spring 2023. Deduction linked to size of breach, mitigating and aggravating factors etc.

I think more than 50% of Championshp clubs will fall foul of FFP rules in this period and so they will be relaxed

I agree with the sentiment but football doesn't ever really work like that in reality. We are in the shit with our finances and I'm mostly worried with keeping our value with Massengo. His contract is up at the end of next season with no option. He's potentially outgrown us currently and I'm sure he has his own ambition further up the pyramid. I hope we don't keep him in the short team for another Diedhiou situation.

Putting Covid, the Ashton affect and parachute payments aside, if BCFC cannot break even who can? We use our stadium each week (due to Rugby) rather every other week. We have great food and drink options at the ground so less revenue is lost to local pubs, we have a good summer concert program and uses for non football use of the buildings seems to be growing. Our attendance numbers are pretty good for this league and our season ticket prices are towards the highest in the Championship.

I have the feeling that since Covid, clubs have become more realistic on wages and if the stupid parachute payment system could be changed the league should become viable for a well run club.

My hope is that in summer we will cut our loses and move Palmer and Wells on and that SL will look ahead seeing a better picture.

In this way perhaps we could challenge for the prem not by spending big but by keeping our price assets.

Players without a song who deserve one. Semenyo, Scott, kalas?

Throught of one for Semenyo but might be wasted now.  In the tune of Famara's old song, Semenyo ohh we ohhh, he's big and powerful, he made you look a fool, Semenyo ohh we ohh

    I'll get my coat ?

Why can't we just have the name with a bit of clapping in between

These clever little ditties are all right but unless we are going to put a lyrics sheet on each sheet very few will ever know the words.

Palmer is the interesting one, DaSilva has shown you can still put your thumb out and hitch a lift on the bus, so maybe Palmer will now realise that he is not as in demand as he thought and if he wants a football career of any note then he needs to find the right change for the bus driver to let him back on.

He wont start to play until he has 6 months to go on his contract and is trying to attract the next sucker. Tomlin all over again

2nd best performance for us after QPR. Not much difference really from that, just bloody brilliant.

I think he loves playing with Scott, they really compliment each other

Never a truer saying than Necessity is the mother of invention. Thin squad, poor results and some poorly performing senior pros. In come the kids and of course they take a while to get up to speed BUT

    a) I am looking forward to games more now than for ages

    b) At the beginning of the season somebody would have said that Pring, Massengo, Antoine and Scott would be our game winners you would have laughed

    c) I actually think we have a bright future

    d) This will encourage more young players to join our academy.

Well done to SL for bring in and sticking with NP.

Well done to Tinnion for creating kids with a great ability and attitude

Well done the crowd for not getting on the players back when they could see 100% effort. Lets hear a bit more of "he's one of our own"

Really unsure of the way forward with our Goalkeeper selection. We play as a team much better with O'Leary playing out from the back but for me in every other key attribute he is an inferior keeper to Bentley.

Do we persevere with Max and hope he can grow into the position and become more dominant and provide that confidence, at the moment he reminds me a bit of a superior Steve Phillips with crosses and his general presence, or do you bring back the safe and sure Bentley but take that edge away from our game playing out from the back.

I really can't decide, even to the point that I wonder if we should look for a better ball playing keeper in the Summer and move Bentley on if we can.

I would think that it is not beyond the realms of possibility to work everyday with Bentley on coming of his line for crosses and having the confidence to play out from the back. At the same time working with O'Leary to improve his positioning and concentration.

Clearly somebody has improved Antoine so why do the same with these 2

I agree, but he shows some naivety in his game that needs to be eradicated or he'll never make it at this level - simple things like getting the wrong side of the attacker.

Hopefully Pearson's influence will help like it has with some others.

For me Vyner hits great balls straight and hard into midfield players in space. This really shifts the play and creates momentum. If he could only concentrate for the for 90+ mins he will be great

    Bentley easier the better keeper.

As a shot stopper I agree but I think Max comes off his line better and his distribution is in a different league. It also seems that communication is better at the back when Max plays

We had a good idea of what to expect this season and the difficulties involved.

Hearing a lot of people talking as if we’ve done enough now and another season in the Championship is a certainty…..don’t agree with that. Think Barnsley and Derby are gone and it’s nice to have a 14 point cushion but until we’re mathematically safe I’m not taking anything for granted.

At that point we’ve had a satisfactory season as far as I’m concerned. Anything mid table or above would be a big bonus but survival is fine by me given our current circumstances.

Leaving aside the position in the the table, I was well entertained on Saturday and frequently out of my seat. Watching a combination of kids and oldies really giving 100% and providing some real excitement is also a huge step forward.

8 of yesterday’s squad were produced by us.

I know Pring had a spell early on at Cheltenham & Semenyo was at SGS before we signed him, but that’s splitting hairs.

Amazing achievement, I’m sure there are a few other Championship sides doing similar (Derby? Millwall?) but ours in terms of both volume & quality is doing exceptionally well & personally I’d rather see a side with so much local representation in the Championship than a side with barely anyone British in the Prem.

Success breeds success, if a 14 year old see's lots of home grown talent in the first team he is far more likely to join us

It might be time to admit that a lot of the senior players in this squad aren't good enough.

Hmmm I wonder if a £38 million loss has anything to do with the fact we can't make stellar signings and have to make do with what we have.

Even if SL wanted to wedge open the vault, we would fall foul of FFP laws.

So we have to soldier on, get rid of deadwood where the cost is not too high and survive for better times.

They looked like they couldn’t defend a high ball. But also they were struggling to defend runners from deep. That was as much as the midfield as the defense.

Thought leaving out Atkins was a big mistake and the DaSilva section ??????

    A shambles of a club.
It was on Lansdown's watch so he has to take responsibility. These accounts just say to me that as soon as we develop any player worth any value, they will be sold. This club is only going to go one way.

Will not be surprised if Lansdown is already lining up a new £ backer for the football side of Bristol Sport. Where is his “chairman” (joke) gone?

How many Championship clubs will show accounts that look sensible. It is the automate fantasy league
