  1. Scott was very much a target for Newman and Noble, but Moyes allegedly went cold on signing him. They have now moved on to Ward Prowse and Scott looks destined for the South Coast.
  2. Bournemouth hijack Wolves move for Alex Scott with £25m bid for Bristol City midfielder Wolves head coach Julen Lopetegui to suffer further frustration at missing out on his No 1 target, the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ ByJohn Percy and Mike McGrath2 August 2023 • 10:39am Alex Scott earned praise from Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish following his performance in the FA Cup tie with Manchester City in February CREDIT: Action Images via Reuters/Paul Childs Bournemouth are in advanced talks with Bristol City over a £25 million deal for Alex Scott, in a move which will further frustrate Wolves head coach Julen Lopetegui. Scott is understood to be closing in on a move to Bournemouth, with the two clubs nearing an agreement on a deal to take the midfielder to the Premier League. Championship club Bristol City have turned down two offers from Wolves this summer and have stuck rigidly to their stance that the fee is £25 million. Bournemouth are now moving to complete a deal, with Lopetegui set to miss out on his No 1 transfer target as Wolves struggle to comply with financial regulations. Scott, 19, is known as the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ and has two years left on his contract at his current club, who are managed by Nigel Pearson. He earned the praise of Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and £100 million forward Jack Grealish after the FA Cup tie between the two clubs in February this year. Earlier this week Pearson insisted that the club’s valuation would have to be met if the teenager was to leave. He said: “I don’t know how many bids there have been, as far as I’m concerned we’ve made our stance quite clear as a football club and that is for somebody to gain the opportunity to talk to him we’re talking about £25 million. “We don’t want to sell him, that’s why we’re pricing him the way that we are, and actually having seen him since the start of pre-season we should be asking £30 million for him, never mind £25 million. “The bottom line is we as a club have said ‘he’s going to cost £25 million as a starting point’ and if something happens where he goes for less than that then I won’t be very happy, I can tell you that now.” Bournemouth have been very active in this summer window and already signed Ivorian midfielder Hamed Traore, Milos Kerkez, Justin Kluivert, Romain Faivre and Ionut Radu. Southamton let Caleta-Car leave Croatia centre-back Duje Caleta-Car will undergo a medical at Lyon on Wednesday after Southampton agreed a deal for him to return to French football. Caleta-Car, 26, was among the players considered likely to depart St Mary’s this summer following relegation from the Premier League, with Mohammed Salisu, Mislav Orsic and Ibrahima Diallo also leaving. Lyon are familiar with Caleta-Car from his four years at Marseille before he moved to England. They have agreed a deal of €5 million (£4.29 million) for him to play under Laurent Blanc next season. Prior to his first spell in Ligue 1 he was at Red Bull Salzburg where he had earned a place in the Croatia squad that reached the World Cup final in 2018. At Marseille he had interest from West Ham. Liverpool also approached Marseille in the January 2021 window but the French club did not have time to find a replacement. Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse has been subject of an approach from West Ham in the last week but no agreement has been made between the clubs.
  3. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/08/02/alex-scott-bournemouth-wolves-transfer-bristol-city-25m/ Same story from Percy but a bit more depth.
  4. Don't think that will be the priority. Pearson was talking about lacking experience at CB and Goalkeeper on RB the other night.
  5. Drat, I was starting to think that maybe, just maybe he will be here for another season. As a fan I don't care about the money (no ones giving me any of it), I just want to see the best players staying and pulling on a Bristol City shirt.
  6. West Ham had their chance and Moyes blew it. Moyes is a serial ditherer in the transfer market, he's not that clever.
  7. Apologies if I have missed something, but how is buying a coffee / beer etc any different this season to the last two. You ask for a coffee show the sales person you card / phone / piece of red paper, they make the price adjustment and you tap to pay.
  8. Thought these comments from the local councillor summed it up quite succinctly. Stance: Customer made comments neither objecting to or supporting the Planning Application Comment Reasons: Comment:I am leaving my comment neutral as although I have grave concerns about this application, I believe that if the ground cease work as they have been advised by me and others, and spend time working on their application and proper community engagement and assessments, then they may be able to have an application worth granting. Like may residents have comment, there is no objection to a larger and improved stand, but there are many serious concerns about how the club has operated so far. Removing trees without an EIA, a poorly managed and unsafe building sight. Ignored calls to stop work while the proper impact assessments are carried out, not engaging with residents properly, not having the correct persons on sight, contractors working unsafely without PPE, concrete and detritus washing down residential streets. Working at antisocial hours. And not having the correct impact assessments and consultations in place before putting in the planning application or indeed starting work. I believe the club need time to sort all of this out and do this properly, If they can get this all in order and prove that they can build a safe stand with all considerations in mind then I will be supportive. However I must currently take into consideration what I have seen, and what residents in my ward have reported to me as well as their concerns. I believe this application is going to need a lot of attention from officers to make sure it is done correctly.
  9. Ahh the same pod that suggested we should be playing friendlies against foreign opposition, who play a completely different style of football to what we will be facing in the league.
  10. Don't worry, I will be buying it as I do most unoffical magazines that are sold around the ground. Thanks for your efforts.
  11. Even better than the OSIB magazine ? (which is a fanzine).
  12. One Team In Bristol. Still going. Buy my copy each month at the Winterstoke road entrance.
  13. That's my point if it isn't being made by the club to include Official content then it must be a fanzine.
  14. Didn't do us much good in he 70's and 80's. Most players benefit from having better players around them.
  15. Was actually built on an interesting Athletic article back in March and has slowly built momentum since then. Probably a few tweets amongst the pages but nothing that most weren't already aware of as the story is out there in the public domain.
  16. It's not a National Rail strike. You can still get to London, just might be difficult getting from London Bridge to the ground. 21 bus goes close or Tube to Canada Water.
  17. Just been looking at a Tube map and thats the most obvious place to head for pre game, I guess.
  18. Won't stop Headhunter claiming he's in the land of the banished though, despite an obvious reason. I too was impressed with Aaroye, didn't look at all fazed.
  19. Several chances went begging at the far post before Tanner's goal. Crossing was generally good (apart from Mehmeti), just needed someone to hold back and attack the far post.
  20. Well it wasn't his arm or head as he was clutching his ankle !!!!!
  21. Not claiming to be a medical expert but as he was about 30 yards away from me it was quite clear he wasn't happy and seemed in a bit if distress. The yelp as he went down didn't help. He was clearly holding the back of his ankle / Achilles.
  22. Didn't look that dubious to me. If you dive in for a challenge on a player that has sprinted past you and he goes down under the challenge you don't give the ref much option but to give it.
