As you’ll know, I don’t see things as first choice / best eleven. It’s a squad game in my opinion, and Williams will be permed with the others (Bird, Knight, TGH). He gives us something the other three don’t give too…edge, aggression and often he’s the one to inject tempo. I don't think you can have any certainty re first game in August as early as May!!!
That ship has sailed North imho.
Why do we need his bite if our aim is to control a large percentage of possession and pass it more efficiently and effectively. What we require more is a press resistant player that can hold that ball and pick progressive passes to compliment knight and TGH industry and birds technical ability. We need a carrick type player.
williams becomes good if we need to constantly win the ball back but I’m guessing we’re not aiming to be a counter team and chasing the game. The more I think of it, the more I think we can move on from Williams, his high wages and his likely demand for a starting birth which he doesn’t warrant. -
We lose Williams, we drop the wage bill significantly, but also we should go all out for Erhanhon from Lincoln to replace him who would be on far lesser wages
-
Let’s have a list of potentials then @GrahamC
personally I think the suggested 2 mill is a pitiful amount for what needs to be and should be a marquee goalscorer, especially given the attacking third is where our incomings are the prime focus.
that and we should have a lot of financial room to bring in a decent striker.
maybe they are spunking it all on twine and are hoping Conway re-signs.
personally I think Conway will be sold as I don’t see him re-signing so all the more reason we need to sign a top replacement.
all the above is of course completely speculative but just my immediate thought diarrhoea.
-
Can see us selling Tommy if he hasn’t signed by start of pre-season. Our replacement for Williams should he not re-sign should be Brannagan from Oxford.

Murphy is a 6 or an 8 if you want to pigeon holes position so he will play back up to bird, TGH, knight and Williams. Not to mention stokes who looks ready to go as far as reports suggest and he would also look to command a midfield spot in the 10. Then we have the hopefully returning be around who I am desperate to see get a full season with us. I think we’re well stocked for options
-
No, wages too high, age not on his side, nor speed and bird is his perfect replacement. If we’re keeping Williams, we don’t keep James as we have other midfielders to compete such as knight, TGH, and maybe even stokes and/or Murphy.

I’ve got NOW TV that I pay monthly for but every time I threaten to cancel, they always give me a lower rate so I’ll probably do this. I watch formula one so I won’t cancel fully

Sykes has been shocking. Poor first touch, poor decision making, too slow. Should have been taken off when mehmeti came on
-
Only James out of the two should stay but wages will mean he moves on also to further reduce the wage bill and be replaced by a new defensive midfielder to add to stokes and bird

These commentators are terrible. Andy is like an excitable little school girl. Very unprofessional and highly biased

Think the bedsheets need to be out at Ashton gate for the entire Heirarchy at the club. They need gone asap, the lot of them. Get real football people in the door, ones that know what they are doing and actually know how to run a bath

The biggest fault was not signing that all important goalscorer. Was happy with our overall business but the glaringly obvious issue was our lack of goals and someone that is capable of scoring them regularly off his own back if not from good supply.
that is the big failing and that is down to tinnion et al and the inability to identify and attract one to the club. Yes, there may be a plan for a specific player in the summer, but as with others, when needed, plans could and should be brought forward where needs must.
come the summer, we won’t have twine as we failed to agree a future fee with the loan. No doubt he will either stay with Burnley or another promotion contender will snap him up which would put us even further behind in the creativity stakes.
i don’t blame manning and can see progress (recent abysmal performance aside against QPR). Everything come down to recruitment.

Penalty should never have been a card either. Penalty was enough. Player came from behind so was no intention. Ref was terrible but fortunately, he could stop us playing the way we did

Not for me. Hasn’t done enough in his whole time playing here. Funny his performances start improving when playing for a new contract…. Too often we have fallen foul to that only to be hamstrung by having a player on a long contract we don’t want and can’t move on.
with TGH, knight, bird, stokes and Murphy, along with possibly Benarous and twine, we have enough cover to move Williams on along with king and James.
Our fan base are far too easily won over by short term performance. Perfect case in point would be the amount of players suggested we purchase having seen one half decent cup performance on tv!
williams is injury prone, is on a decent contract and has been missing for 65-70% of his time here, whether that be due to injury, suspension or just not performing to an appropriate level

Overall, he’s a decent enough Champ keeper
As a No.2. If we want to get promotion we need to improve on him. That sum of all parts business.

Reckon he’s cost us more points than he has won us. We will never get promoted with him as No.1 IMO. Too prone to mistakes or simply that he doesn’t have the ability to do the correct thing all the time that will cost us. Perfect example tonight of simply palming the ball in to the 6 yard box instead of away from goal. Technically was very poor which enabled the mistake.

Did we actually beat Brentford to one of their own money ball signings?! We are moving forward in the world…..

Yes, just started working on Belgium for expressvpn

I’ve tried a few and it’s the same message for every country. I pay for robins tv yet I’m probably going to have to watch it via illegal stream… it’s 2024 and they still can’t get their shit together
-
Robins tv currently isn’t working for domestic or overseas viewers. Keep getting a message saying location isn’t authorised no matter what country I’m in

Don’t see us retaining Williams. Probably on a decent wage, historically injury prone and I’m sure we can find a better replacement. Also think James will leave beyond his current contract so we simply need to find a new defensive midfielder who is resistant to the press and can pass well. Iroegbunam May be a shout down the line or many like brannagan who is older. Midfield in the main is looking good though.
its our forward line that needs a shake up. Wells and cornick surely will move on at some point, Conway may be sold if he doesn’t re-sign and bell isn’t a no.9 and certainly not a 20+ goal a season striker. Think we see a lot of movement in the summer in our forward dept

Scenes when twine and benson appear on the roof….

Twine is too expensive and far too late in his development to sign him compared to when we should have signed him. It’s a no from me. As above, do t see the point in a loan as he’s not ours and would still be far to expensive to buy beyond a loan.

This is Conways shop window to gain some suitors. Still can't see him signing a new contract so this call up can only benefit us from a sale perspective should he perform well.
