  1. Don’t think NP trusts either of our rb’s. Or rather doesn’t fancy them to do a capable job which is odd considering we signed them to provide the balance and specialisation for that role.

Could be as simple as Sykes got the nod and has impressed since and it’s down to the other two to force their way in. Doesn’t explain their lack of chance tonight though…

The one good thing about Sykes being banned is it may give Wilson a chance to impress.

You keep forgetting that fee is just one dimension of a transfer.  What about the wages that we are obliged to pay under the current contract.

Who is gonna pick up the tab on Kalas’s £25k p.w without us still having to pay some of it?

This will be a big reason why bids haven’t been forthcoming for some of our players.

Hence why I put in brackets more likely to leave on a free at contract end having run it down. The fees stated for those players are just more hopeful figures in terms of their ability contract status and what we would at a guess need to cover regarding amortisation etc from an ffp point of view if they were to move on now.

How many times do we need to explain that you cannot sell someone if no one bids?

Kalas (who has been injured since March), Bentley, HNM, there are NO bids.

    This is Football Manager stuff.

Hence why in brackets after each of those I put will likely leave in a free at end of contract.

the only saleable assets we have are semenyo and Scott.

  4. Anyone think we should just sell the assets we have simply so we can be on a far better financial footing but also with cash for a rebuild?

15-20 mill for semenyo plus sell on

25-30 mill for Scott plus sell on

1-2 mill for kalas (more likely to leave for free at end of contract)

1 mill for massengo (More likely to leave for free at end of contract)

1-2 mill for Bentley (May leave for free at end of contract)

Money in from Scott and semenyo sale would do 4 things.

put us on a far better standing with ffp

provide a decent transfer kitty to replace players moved on as part of a rebuild.

part of the cash used to pay off the likes of Wells immediately to allow our wage bill to drop significantly.

With improved finances, it would allow us the chance to possibly renew certain players on better terms so the likes of Bentley could be retained for longer.

For the longer term, it may be the best strategy. Only question for me that hangs over the club is can the powers that be within the club be trusted recruit well moving forward to replace those moved on.

on recruitment, have we missed the boat however on players that could replace the outgoings that still allow us to be competitive in the championship?
would the above point be the only reason we don’t sell semenyo and Scott?

  5. Consistency of playing staff, zero disruption to said playing staff and adding quality and balance to it all could actually lead us to having a potentially very good season.

it’s clear no pundit or armchair stato has factored the above into their thoughts on our season outcome.

I don’t mind flying under the radar until people are forced to take notice

least said about secondtierpod the better….

  6. Quite literally a fantasy football game for the championship. Get 100mill budget, variety of ways to score points and also get special chips to play that provide boosts like ‘away day’ which gives a 2 x point multiplier to players playing away that game week.

give it a go. It’s good fun.

  7. Surprised given wilson has a minor knock, that tanner isn’t given the position seeing as they are supposed to be competing for that role. Could suggest tanner isn’t yet trusted or ready to play wing back.

With wilson out, I fell we could be a lot less toothless in attack but Sykes has shown he can be useful. I just hope Scott isn’t out at right back

  8. Think only reason Scott may miss starting vs hull is due to starting ore-season 2 weeks later than others. Can see Sykes starting over Scott due to pre-season form (has impressed me the more I’ve seen of him).

My preferred starting lineup for hull would be:

    bentley

    wilson, Naismith, klose, atkinson, dasilva

    williams, Scott

    weimann

    Martin, Wells

This is such a Football Manager response.

Tell me, what do you if no one wants to buy any of these players & they are unwilling to sign new contracts or we don’t want to give them a new one?

So far we have moved on big wage earners in Palmer & O’Dowda plus lower earners in Cundy, Janneh & Britton.

Presumably Shrewsbury & Ross County are making contributions to Taylor Moore & Owura Edwards’ wages too.

By my estimate therefore our wage bill has decreased, not by much, but it is going in the right direction.

Do you honestly think we have turned down bids for the players you list?

Saying “sell” is so much easier than achieving it.

Change sell to ‘move on’ then. A more open ended word. Sentiment still the same.

  10. I have faith in Nige, jury is out on Gould however imo. We haven’t addressed the biggest issues in the squad, the high wages, unwanted players and contractual issues.

    massengo contract or sale

    kalas contract or sale

    Bentley contract or sale

    wells contract or sale

    bakinson sale

    vyner sale

all the above listed purely from our fragile financial standing. Surely should all be priority?

  11. Only pre-season but, already sick of these vyner Hollywood passes. We are severely lacking in attacking vision and quality in the final third. Concerns me that we don’t have an appropriate replacement for semenyo who makes a big difference to how we play in the final third.

tanner definitely can’t perform the same attacking role that wilson can offer. Not been much of an outlet really.

unlike the Cheltenham and Portsmouth games, there doesn’t seem to be and real style of play. It was obvious in the previous games that the plan was to get the ball wide and get crosses in. I have barely seen any of that here so far
