This certainly seems like a dig.

“I am now at a club that still has a chance of promotion and where we will hopefully make the playoffs.”

I get that his contract was expiring and that starting him in games would have triggered an extension. But the reality is neither party would have been keen to extend his stay here.

So what strong leadership should do is sit down with him and say "both parties would like to go their separate ways in the summer, you want to return closer to your family and we would like to go in a different difection however right now we consider you a really important player on and off the pitch so how about we make a mutual agreement to scrap that clause? We get the benefit of being able to start you whilst you get the benefit of being able to attract interest from a club that can offer you a longer contract, win win"

I usually agree with your posts @W-S-M Seagull but on this occasion not, as I don’t think that’s a dig - it’s the truth. We didn’t have a realistic chance of competing for the play offs at the point of his departure - in all honesty, that chance faded when Pearson was booted.

  2. What a fantastic interview this was - Pearson was settled here and you were starting to see that (slowly) on the pitch.

Competing for promotion and achieving are two different things. However, I believe we would have been competitive if he had stayed.

I wondered to my self if we never had beaten Southampton would manning still be in his job now?

move this to a thread you find appropriate if don’t want another thread

If we’d never beaten them, we wouldn’t all be able to buy the commemorative shirt in 40 years time.

  4. Whilst I’m sure Tinnion has been providing snippets of info to IG - his continued and unshakeable defence of BT on FBC would suggest that - IG’s 8 games comment is his own. Tinnion wouldn’t be that silly….. would he?

  5. Manning is going nowhere. We can all debate as much as we want, however in Tinnion’s recent interview, he believed everything was rosy until the defeats at QPR, Sheff Wed etc. Tinnion nor the club are reading the room, they are so far removed from the fans. To have him on the season ticket promo further confirms it.

That was some year, wasn’t it? The players, the manager, the club, the spirit and togetherness. Cotterill created a real club culture, one us fans properly bought into. Probably the only season where, if we went a goal down or it was goalless at half time, I still felt we’d win the game.

Not forgetting Tins played a key role in the signing of both Antione and Alex Scott, which consequently netted the club £30 million plus. Transfer income might not matter to the OTIB Taliban, but it puts him in significant credit with SL

Whilst not disputing his involvement (albeit a smaller role), do you think Tinnion would’ve been aware of Scott if it wasn’t for Lansdowns links? I believe it was the Guernsey FC manager who initially made contact with us himself.

which yielded 3 points much to the disgust of the "everyone out" brigade.

Posts like this are bull**** and you would know that. Those who comment as such certainly lose credibility as a poster.

  9. Tinnion and the hierarchy are deluded (which we knew). They are in a bubble as is Manning as he’s referenced the same. To think that everything was rosy up until the recent three defeats is laughable. Manning is going nowhere.

What’s the complete and utter obsession with this Southampton game? We won and played well, that’s why the fans were happy that night. That’s what football is all about about, watching your team win and play well. But it was one win for gods sake. Need to get their heads out of their backsides and address the current position instead of all this ‘everyone was happy when we beat Southampton’ nonsense.

We’ll probably release the shirt we played in that night in 30 years time by the sounds of it.

I don’t know what’s more frustrating the interview itself or the feeling of frustration that I knew they’d come out trying to spin a yard around positive progress. We will remain in the doldrums until Tinnion is suitably replaced.

But that’s a view based on four games. You wouldn’t have been saying that four games ago. This is talking next season/four years!

Clearly there’s a scenario where we simply lose the next four then the next four but a) I don’t think that will happen and b) I’m not convinced that yet another change at the top in the midst of that would really help.

It’s not based on the last 4 games though. It’s based upon Mannings whole tenure.

Talking to a couple of Ipswich fans in the hotel bar this evening.

Just some context, in terms of their judgement: we asked what they thought of Mark Ashton: “t w a t”.

Then, can we have Wes Burns back. “Only if we can have Liam Manning back when McKenna gets poached”

Really? Yes: “you’ve got a top coach, one of the best……give him til this time next season and you’ll be glad you did…….best organised side here this season”

    Just saying.

Fair play to them watching our previous 3 games in full. Could you ask them what they thought of our performances/gameplans in those fixtures?
