If you play Foakes and Bairstow, there is only room for 4 bowlers as Stokes is playing on one leg as usual. IMHO you need 5 bowlers particularly as you are not getting many from Woods. To me this means Bairstow is out. Ali can bat at 3, or others can move up.

Its the Elephant in the room the Ben Foakes situation. I know they want consistency in their approach, but to me its totally stubborn. You don't pick your opening bowler for the entire series and stick with it, no matter what - so why do it with the wicketkeeper? Unless Foakes has shat in Brendan McCullum's trainers i don't get it.

For me this is the key point. To ask someone, after a year of no cricket, to be a main batter and wicket keeper is a very big ask. I suppose its said with hindsight, but many people wanted Foakes and Bairstow in the team if you look to the start of this thread.
