As the Everton player's name has never been released by the club or the authorities, what is wrong in asking why Everton's record signing and highest earner hasn't played all season? It's not like they're doing well without him. What rules would they be breaking? They're not reporting on a crime, they're asking a football related question......???

Even if they're not breaking rules, what is the actual point apart from being antagonistic? At best, it could be a good way of getting yourself banned from press conferences or needlessly souring relations with a club over a question you know they con't answer. At worst, it could be contempt of court.

Nome of the media (bbc, sky, bt sport etc) have never asked Everton why their record £45 million signing and highest earner hasn't played all season (don't ??????)

If you're hoping for some sort of weird scandal on this I'm afraid you'll be sadly disappointed.

I don't know what the exact reasons are why there's been no major news coverage of that specific topic, but look at Google. All of the results are from overseas. That suggests there are some kind of reporting restrictions in place, which is far from unusual.

  3. Saw someone mention McInnes. I don’t think we can light too many candles for the man who brought in Pearson, Foster, McManus, McGivern and so on.

They might have been cheap Scottish imports, by and large, but they were largely bad apples.

This group works as a collective and what we sometimes lack in quality we are beginning to make up for in steel, which I think we appreciate all the more because we’ve seen so little of that in the past few years.

There’s always going to be some people who don’t rate the job NP is doing, you can never please everyone and not everyone gives two thoughts about the context of our indifferent season.

But it says a lot that even with our penchant for conceding late goals - when the anger will still be bubbling by the time weary fans type in OTIB.co.uk - there isn’t the chorus against Nigel which I am certain we would’ve seen at this point were LJ or Holden in the dugout.

For the cup run of 17/18 and the play-off pushes, Nigel’s plan feels as strong as any of that despite where we are in the league, and despite having barely a pot to piss in to bring in new additions.

The headline sums up the game perfectly. No need to read on really (although I did). Truly pathetic way to lose a match.
Utterly galling to hear the Luton manager say they were well below par. And yet they still won. We are so soft. Embarrassing really. Cardiff barely put a glove on us and scored twice. Ditto Luton. I turned to those with me at 1-1 and said ‘we all know what’s going to happen.’
Just as well Peterborough are as hopeless as us at defending.

Don't worry, if Russia invade Ukraine it might all be over soon.

Think that O’Dowda score and review is harsh, and reflects he is generally frustrating rather than last night’s actual performance. That said he started brightly then faded a bit, which he often has recently.

Agreed, don’t think he was great but he did a lot of running and being wasteful in the final third was something you could level at a lot more than just COD.

I’m sure calling him O’Dawdle is meant as a joke but it’s a bit odd.

"Please note: We can only show rescheduled, displaced midweek games or games taking place away from Saturday at 3pm that are not part of a regular midweek round on the Red Button where respective clubs stream them on their iFollow app."

Does that not imply all “regular” midweek games are ok the red button?

  7. Max has made some great saves in the brief time he's been with us.

I've not seen enough of him to put tonight down to his inability to command his area - or six-yard box. But it certainly wasn't an encouraging display for the first goal.

Often seem to advertise them late for some reason, although I see they now have our two midweek home matches in Feb marked as red button which is good notice. I used to be able to record the red button matches but no longer giving me that option (I tried on Sat and tonight) - was useful to pause and replay.

Beyond my pay grade unfortunately. But I'm pretty sure every game which isn't bound by the Saturday blackout is fair game, so long as it's not already on SSF. That's the general gist we got from the video guys when this contract was announced anyway.

His second booking was the sort of shithousery we’ve lacked for years. How many times have we said before take a booking on halfway to stop a counter-attack? I’ve no issue with that at all, and fair play for apologising. I don’t actually think he’s responsible for the defeat either; we played well with 10 men against 12.

I'm pretty sure the idea of this is to stop the opposition creating a scoring chance and only having a foul to deal with, rather than playing the rest of the game with 10 men.

  10. Did okay. Not a game to really give him a huge assessment on - a couple of moments I felt nervous about his handling, especially in the first half, and one early moment he punched when he should've held, but generally solid.

The 6-7 weeks’ worth of season ticket sales for 2021-22 which were made before 31 May will only be recognised as P&L revenue in the accounts for the year ended 31 May 2022. None of it will be recognised in the P&L in the year to 31 May 2021.

The accounting entries for these sales in the 2021 accounts will be debit cash, credit deferred revenue (as Ole noted in a later post).

Then in the 2022 accounts the accounting entries will be debit deferred revenue, credit P&L revenue, to match the ticket revenue to the period which it relates to.

    Very happy to stand corrected!

25% of supporters let the club keep their season ticket payment? (Probably more than 25% given that the initial take up after Covid hit would have been down on 19/20 season ticket sales). I know there was a gesture to put the names on the third shirt but had no idea the take up was this high.

This balance sheet was to the end of May - they first went on sale on April 12 so that's 6-7 weeks' worth of income for this year's tickets, and whatever amount the club kept from fans' payments last season as you mention. Not a bad tally given the state of the pandemic at the time and the short time period.

On Lee Johnson... We surely have to accept the possibility that we would be in a better position had we not sacked him.

Let that sink in. It is very possible that we would be playing better football and winning more games under LJ in the almost 2 years since he left.

It's amazing what you can do with investment and quality players!
