  1. We want "Bazball" progress next season, smashing it all over the place. We've done the Boycott/Tavare progress now. Either that, or people will be drifting away, up Nevil Road .....
  2. Just looked it up, and we played: 26 Dec Port Vale 27 Dec Walsall 01 Jan Blue Few They played: 26th, 28th and 01 Jan. That day's rest, and likely playing against ten men rather than with made all the difference. Les and Des outfoxed by Messrs Flook and Bradshaw there, perhaps.
  3. We then lost 0:1 at home to the Sag, four days later. Just shows ....
  4. Yes, Keith Curle sent off, I think. One nil down, and already, Walsall were a bit of a "bogey" team, we had played 4 lost 4 on our return to Div 3. Just the 10,000 there (actually, a "big" crowd for Div 3 back then) but as you say, with a burning sense of "not fair!" we whipped up quite a noise, and John MacPhail "cooly" slotted home the winner from the spot. Just shows what can be done with the right mindset, and a crowd behind you. The Port Vale game the day before, if I remember kreckly, was sodden, on their big pitch. The players must've been tired by second half of the Walsall game. Just shows what can be done with ....
  5. Like Northampton '82. That was an away day.
  6. Started in '84? So not at Newport '82 then?
  7. When in Frome, do as the Fromans do. So don't go to Frome if at all possible.
  8. Yeah, if we play Middlesbrough away at 5.30 it will mean we have to watch via some dodgy stream and get into a spat with someone on the Matchday Thread whilst having tea with the family. Not good.
  9. I'm going Tuesday. Just to tell (shout at) him that he can't be wearing tracksuit bottoms at his age. Not in this weather.
  10. Anyone else want to ask @Red Cloud about Laura Woods's playing career? Just in case
  11. Think Nige needs a lie down in his woodshed in that thicket of his.
  12. Nige mentioned it, on the radio, in the week ....
  13. Nige's tired, after a busy week, chatting to Henry Winter and Pep and everyone, staying up late Tuesday night.
  14. I don’t mind Man City at all. I'd rather they were using overseas money to win everything in sight than Chelsea, for example. I'd prefer it if it was still Peter Swales there, and the Chelsea owners prior to Ken Bates there, but that world has long gone. There's still something "Man City" about Man City, for me, that makes them ok - John Stones at the back, for example. And when they used that Leeds lad in midfield, forget his name now, but he was terrible. And not winning in Europe (yet). Losing to crappy Wigan in the cup final. Even this season, they are blowing a very good chance to be Champions of England. They could've been more dominant. I rather warm to their ground not being rammed for every home game, their lack of atmosphere at times: rather like us, or they would be were it not for their large away crowd, following them everywhere. Liverpool irritate me with their rammed home games, incredible atmosphere and unwavering enthusiasm and loyalty - I just can't relate to this. The booing of the Champions League theme - marvellous! Craig Cash, Man City fan: says it allall a lot, really. Who was the gormless lad in Corrie years ago? Man City, too. Their away crowd in the late 80s/early 90s was large, and seemed to have a sense of humour about it. It looked like fun in there. Don't mind them, better them than Chelsea.
  15. Were we not better v them in 2018? Did the media not go a bit ott about us then too? Has KDB perhaps not mellowed/grown up a bit himself?
  16. We don't follow our lot Everywhere. Can we tweak the words a bit?
  17. He's very good in England, he's in the groove in club games. Cruising almost. In Europe, and for Belgium? I don't see much CL, has he really done enough at that level?
  18. Noel, I can just about tolerate. As long as I don't have to look at 'is face. Or listen to his records.
  19. Yeah. And/or Crystal Palace. And perhaps Celtic or Burnley. And England.
  20. Tell them, we don't plough these days. No-till. Hold the carbon. Ploughing is so 20th century.
  21. Correct. He would've had one of his staff do that.
  22. Just to help everyone a bit more with this: Last night: we were never ahead, behind from 7th minute, rarely had the ball, one shot, didn't score, lost. Man City 18: bit more of the ball, closer tie, scored twice. Man Utd 18: 45% possession! Scored twice. Never behind. Injury time winner = atmosphere!
