I definitely intend to get there again some day. I loved Galway, all the buzz of Dublin. but in a much more subtle, sedate way. A kind of Dublin for the middle aged!

Galway is fantastic, so many people there see it as a mini Bristol

I watched Bohs once while I was in Dublin and really liked it there and obviously they have the big rivalry with them. After that I met a few Shamrock fans at a Celtic game and they were a couple of dicks, so  that sort of compounded my feelings toward them.

I quite enjoyed my visit to Galway United a few years back btw, was sad to see them go down.

Back on the way up now, they were bankers to win their division this year and get promoted back to the top flight, a little known fact is that they were owned for a short time by Nick Leeson the man who broke Berings bank

And I'm saying , corona virus was a big worry when tickets when on sale. I only highlighted what was happening in my household the reasons why I haven't renewed, to highlight that it would be the same ( and much worse) in many other cases. I think my family will be fine btw , in reality , if things don't work out all that well, it will probably just mean I will have to curtail things like football, rugby. horse racing and generally pissing my money up against the wall, rather than having to worry where the next meal is coming from, but I do thank everyone for their kind messages.

Of course it's a piss taking thread and I don't think any -sane- Rovers fan could deny that your support , especially season ticket wise, absolutely blows ours out of the water, I was just pointing out that the figure of 600 for this season, has a lot more to do with people's personal finances and/or worries about the future , than it does to do with the fact that our football team/club is currently even more of a shambles than it usually is :)

Ignore him, BTW, what's your issue with Shamrock Rovers?

I wasnt at York but clearly remeber Hereford. I was working nights and have never run so fast back to the car for a quick drive to North Bristol after the game (if memory serves it went into extra time as well).

It was extra time, lost 2-0 up there, (that was a lively night) 0-0 at half time at AG and struggling but managed to turn it around, great scenes after and a great night in the Enterprise after

There is an interesting nuance to the stat for 1975/76. As you say, the Muller Road end was pretty big and their penultimate home game was us, on Good Friday if memory serves. The attendance was 26,000 odd and the overwhelming majority were in red. If we are generous and credit their attendance as 10,000 the 16,000 of us tipped the season average from about 9,100 to "over 10,000".

So for once it IS our fault.

That open end was big and it was rammed that day, I doubt that we had 16000 there though

I am intrigued as to how you managed this.

I seem to recall there was something loose at the back of the East End, but only saw a few crawling under there on rare occasions.

In th EE it was either over the top of the gates at the back of EE or over the walls and under the barbed wire in either of the toilets, if that failed just speed through under the turnstile, we had other ways of getting into Dolman and Park End, it really was easy with stewards and OB not really bothered

Rumour was that it was 41,000!

‘Ramming’ was the method that achieved that number.

Managed to get in earlyish,, so wasn’t too bad in that part of the East End I was stood. Late comers were the one’s who suffered I think. Know a few that were turned away when the gates were closed before the start of the match.

For us kids it was so easy to sneak in in any part of the ground and 100's of us did regularly, that Liverpool game had far more in attendance than the official 37,000 sell outs of that era, gives me goose pimples just thinking about standing in the East/Park End during those big games

To be fair, most of us who don't like him didn't expect society to reach a point where, within three months, he had no choice but to introduce the most socialist policies of any government in living memory. I'm not a fan but today him and Rishi Sunak have done what they need to do. Fair to play to them.

Bollocks fair play to them, some would of already unnecessarily died because this has come at least a week too late

If you have the ability to work from home then you should do so.
That’s the advice. That’ll keep the salary coming for those people.
Of course there are HUGE challenges to come for many people who won’t be able to work and whose employers have to close. I know all about that, as my wife works in a restaurant who’ve had 500 cancellations yesterday and is likely to be let go.
Yes, the government have a massive role to play in ensuring there is as little impact to people and businesses as possible. Big big challenge.

But that’s a totally different argument to “I can work from home but I’ve decided not to because my employer isn’t following the advice”.

It's not a digatyou but how many people on the menial, low paid, zero contract hours can work from home?

Your employer doesn’t need to be “told” by anyone else. The advice is quite clear.
I’d suggest you speak to your employer yourself and inform them, that due to government advice, you are going to work from home.
If they refuse, then it’s your employer who is being a dick, rather than Boris, whom you were so keen to blame earlier.

Unfortunately government advice will not pay people's bills

At least City fans are consistent, Johnson in/Johnson out at about 50/50?

Their Garner in/Garner out poll has swung from 80/20 in to 80/20 out in only a couple of weeks

    #ficklegas

50/50? I don't know a single person who thinks LJ shouldn't be sacked
