I'm going to suggest that our record in the time period you mention, which includes relegation out of the league, being knocked out of the cup by countless non league sides and never having played you in a league fixture, suggests that there is no perceivable bias toward our club by match officials.

If there is such a bias, then we are in even bigger trouble than I thought.

You are, because match officials can't keep showing this obvious bias, people will start to ask questions ?

I have no idea what the stats are and can't be arsed to look them up. However, I'm willing to bet anything you like, that over the years, we have probably had around about the same amount of penalties awarded to us, given against us and the same with red cards as any other team.

No doubt that some teams do get little runs of such things going in their favour, but as conspiracy theories go, it's just a little bit more likely than flat earthers view of the world and a little less likely that the current crop of world leaders are all in it together :)

But your little runs of such "such things' has lasted about 15 years, you've had strikers that constantly tumble in the box as if they've been shot dating back to the likes of Roberts and Haldane and your current striker is as bad.

This season Rovers have been given 6 penalties .. 8 other clubs in league one have been awarded the same, or more. And also so far this season Rovers’ opponents have been awarded 9 penalties when playing against the gas. So more pens have gone against them than for them.

Last season Rovers were awarded 7 penalties; compare that with Charlton who were awarded 15 in league one, Accrington 11 and Luton 10 - and 6 other clubs were awarded the same number of pens as the gas. Also last season, Rovers’ opponents were awarded a total of 7 pens - so awarded and conceded totals were the same.

In 2017/2018 Rovers were awarded 4 penalties - 13 other clubs in their division were awarded more than them. And in the same season, Rovers’ opponents were given 13 penalties - so they were awarded 9 less than they conceded ...

It really does pain me to say it, but this thing about them getting loads of pens and more pens than anyone else is just a convenient myth...they have actually had more pens awarded against them over recent times ...

Really don't know where you are getting your stats wrong

Not making excuses but they have all of Devon & half of Cornwall supporting them. Must be nearly 2m people there?

Plymouth away support is fantastic, they have to travel for 2 hours before they even hit Bristol, not as good as Rovers away support though

  5. I love the excuses their manager is coming out with for their losses. bad pitches, refs not being strong enough, time wasting from the opposition, obvious penalties not being given, he sounds desperate, no excuse tonight against a very poor Tranmere side that hasn't scored for 5 games

As a Swindon fan I went to all the City matches at home from the late 70's onwards and they were always really lively. Also went to Elm Park and found their lot rather quiet and not really a Derby compared to you guys the Gas and Oxford

With all due respect, taking the Town end was a walk in the park, we got far more issues at Oxford and Newport

Funny enough I was at a wake of a dear friend on Friday and Torquay was mentioned, it was great to reminisce of some great memories following City, as you say, brings a tear to the eye

Yeah.  Not that this stuff should be forgotten about or viewed with any kind of nostalgia, but exactly what relevance does this have to tonight's game?  Is it something the post prints every time we play Reading away?

Perhaps the writer is Gas and the six digits on each hand confused him when using them to erroneously determine it's the 25th anniversary this year...

The Editor-in-chief is certainly gas and used to stand on the Tote End

Never been a rioter but was present at the 'goings on' at Reading, Swindon, Plymouth, and even Torquay - after the game (Nolan sister, made the papers)

Also on the train to York, as mentioned above, but remember that as a good day out and very peaceful except the first City fan off the train at York ran across the platform shouting, BRRRISSSSSSSSSSSTOL, and was promptly rugby tackled to the ground by police and arrested.

Always thought that was a long way to go to be arrested within 30 seconds!

That Torquay game was nuts, Ms Nolan was seeing a Torquay player at the time, Wilson? Another City game to hit the Nationals!!!
