Pep certainly has an obsession with this style of play, it's not wrong on his part to play that way as it works and is very successful.

I deem it negative because I find it actually quite mundane and characterless to watch, it works but it's not what I particularly enjoy watching.. As said elsewhere I prefer Liverpool's organised chaos to Man City's robots.

If you like Man City then fair enough but it's not wrong to find them boring to watch either.

It’s quite easy to see the Man City v Arsenal game and label them as boring all round but i think it’s unfair to say they play boring football.

It can be a lot more structured and slow in build up, usually because of how the opposition approaches countering Man City’s set up rather than Man City doing it themselves.

Both Man U fixtures, the 4-4 draw with Chelsea and the 3-2 win over newcastle were all very entertaining games imo. But almost every team outside of the top 6 will play exclusively on the counter against Man City in a low block because of how good they are.

The Real Madrid home leg last season for example, they set up the same way they have done all this season and that was arguably one of the best performances in recent club football, extremely entertaining at the same time.

I'm sure Man City are very upset that their STRIKER isn't as good as a footballer.

Kane has bottled it on every big occasion. Do they give out trophies for strikers that can drop into midfield?

Kane is good, but he's not Erling Haaland good.

If Haaland would have choose to play for England then Kane doesn't get in the team ahead of Haaland.

My point was Kane is a better player, which he is. Haaland might beat him in raw finishing and positional awareness but nothing else. You put Harry Kane in that Man city team he does just as well, if not better imo.

And even though it has no actual relevance to a players ability suggesting Kane has “bottled it” on every big occasion is a moot point when Haaland has done the same.

Haaland has played in 2 UCL semi-final legs, UCL final, Fa Cup final, Fa Cup Semi-Final, 2 Community shields and a Super Cup Final. All supposed big games. 8 Games 0 goals.

Fun fact for you: In the entirety of Man city’s Fa Cup run last season, Haaland scored the same amount of goals in the tournament as Sam Bell.

Kane at 30 is a career bottle job. Won nothing. He even bottled moving to Man City.

Haaland at 23 has won pretty much everything.

Much better player than Haaland? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 please.

That is the poorest argument to determine an individuals quality i’ve ever seen.

If anything it adds to the argument that Kane is better.

In just last season, Kane had 30 league goals for spurs. A team who finished 8th, played with 3 different managers, one of which actively spoke down on the club whilst in charge.

Haaland scored 36 (only 6 more) goals last season, 7 being penalties, in arguably one of the best sides in premier league history.

By your logic Marc Albrighton is a better player then Heung-Min Son because he won the premier league and FA Cup with Leicester.

An argument can be made that Haaland is a better goal scorer but he is no where near as good a footballer.

I was chatting to a very knowledgeable steward yesterday. He said scouts were taking an interest in Whittaker, some clubs were making regular visits. He mentioned Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Leicester as the most interested.

Wouldn’t be surprised. 26 G/As in a pretty average team (goal scoring wise) in the championship alone will turn heads, especially at only 23. Add to the fact he’s got the maturity/game intelligence of someone with more experience and the technicals to go along with it he will be head hunted come summer imo, especially if plymouth go down.

Could see him going to any of the teams vying for auto-promotion. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up at a lower league prem side either.

    Eze/Olise replacement at palace maybe?

  5. Gives me Adeluken/Garita vibes this one.

I did like the look of him in the short amount of time he’s played tbh, just very clear he’s low on confidence + doesn’t know his teammates well enough.

I’m not sure had we lost both this weekend - “he’s not going anywhere” would’ve had such confidence! 😉

Yep, Swansea would’ve been the deal breaker for me. Even though we performed horribly we still got over the line.

I haven’t a clue about the FrA managerial market however, so probably tougher for me to call for a sacking without knowing who would come in to replace him.

Good to see him showing some tactically flexibility today and the ability to string some results together. Not out of the woods yet but at least he’s making steps in that direction.

Based on who we play in our last 6, he needs to hit at least 60 and preferably closer to 65 (with similar performances) for me to be content with him having the summer, although he will most likely get it either way now.

Absolutely , but he needs to look for others too. Not sure who it was , but a 5 yard pass to an unmarked player on the edge of the box with the defence all over the place ? Should have been a 2nd. He only passes when there is no option .

He is better than he was when NP dropped him , he's learnt . But he needs to improve even more.

Agreed but I think the faults in his game are all coachable. Also don’t think it’s the most important position that we currently need a signing for. And tbf to him, he’s always available which is in short supply with our current squad.

  8. Was about to say this, didn’t think he put one out today or against Leicester unless he was massively under pressure.

Finds Pring consistently for the flick on left side of the half way line as well. At least an above average shot stopper as well. 👍

The Conway situation is a weird one has he had his head turned by his agent as he is well off the pace at the moment.

Might just be a lack of confidence maybe.

Have to remember he’s probably 1st or 2nd in line striker to break into the Scotland team. With the Euros round the corner I doubt he’d be “disinterested” personally.

Sorry I'm genuinely confused here - your original complaint was that we were doing the same thing wasn't it - "stumble across something that worked and kept on until it no longer worked"

But now you're complaining we have a new plan A every game.

    Which is it?

Loves to contradict himself to criticise Manning, which is odd as there’s many reasonable things to criticise LM about.
