  1. Weird one. Got out of the blocks slow, did well enough to not concede any real obvious chances whilst plymouth were on top, although they look dangerous on corners.

Came back into it, couple good switches from both Vyner and James. Roberts looks pretty good in their half so far. Twines chance probably the best of the game so far.

Defended Conway quite heavily for his lack of goal threat recently due to just not receiving the ball often enough. But has lost possession to easily when he’s gotten it in this one so far imo.

Mehmeti playing well again, put a brilliantly ball through to tanner who unfortunately wasn’t on his wave length.

Keeping control in the middle of the park will be vital in the second half, force Plymouth into keeping it on either wings.  Which Tanner especially has done well to defend against one of Pylmouths more dangerous assets in Mumba.

Need to start the second half better then the first, first goal will be vital. COYR

Watching mebude warm up...I don't think he reckons he's getting on the pitch today!

Really strange one this, felt like overall are transfers havent been big misses like this in quite a while. Maybe with the exception of Kane Wilson. But from what we’ve seen of Mebude, which is very little tbf, he doesn’t offer anything of value over another player.

I prefer a manager who focuses on setting us up to play to our strengths. Chopping and changing to match the opposition is the wrong mindset imho. So fine by me if this shape is gonna suit us. Whether Liam will actually start doing this remains to be seen.

    ^^^

Much rather us setting up to play to our strengths rather then the opponents weaknesses.

Need to see some more in the final third from Twine today personally, clearly has it in his locker but yet to see it properly.

Again we find our questioning the standard of officials this season and above all their consistency!!

if Vyner or Dickie had grabbed Vardy shorts 100% Kitchen points to the spot !

As for the Dickie shout I refer back to an incident when Pring made little or no contact and the Ref points to the spot.
Let’s face it consistency is a real problem

Was just thinking about that, Pringy had a hand on the arm and was deemed to have kept it their to long/pulled it back if i remember correctly.

Yet having two hands wrapped round dickie whilst looking in the opposite direction of the ball, a charging elbow into the back of the shoulder with no intention of playing the ball and an obvious shirt pull (most debtable as it seemed to start outside the box) are all waved away.

I don’t mind if referees are soft on fouls or hard, just be consistent!

Can you please come and explain stuff to my wife when she doesn't understand me?

    @George Rs

For the avoidance of doubt - yesterday was a tactical ******* masterclass. Manning displayed a mastery of strategy not seen since the 424 was deployed by Garrincha et al in the 50s. Combine that with the passion shown by the team now known as "The Lions of Bedminster" and my ******* god Maresca and his boys - devoid of all emotion and worry and as laser-focussed as they obviously were - well they never stood a chance. 71 points are now surely inevitable and Wembley here we ******* come. I'll buy your ticket.

    That’s what i like to hear! 😂

Do agree with your point though, we can’t let ourselves get carried away, this result does ultimately change nothing unless Manning has learnt from his mistakes post Southampton and can prove it on monday and going forward.

    Yeh pretty much.

Although I'm not just talking about things playing on the players minds. I'm talking about training schedules being disrupted because of the knock-on effects of extra meetings and investigations being held by management. I'm talking about the coaching staff being in bad moods all the time. Chats in physio rooms, WhatsApp threads, and chats with agents.

It's a workplace. People work there. Humans who have moods and emotions and ambitions and opinions. And it's disrupted from the bottom to the top.

Of course that doesn't directly cause Vardy to miss or score his chances, etc. But it's sets the tone and the mood of the players and coaches.

We did well. We took the chance. But the chance was there, in part, because of the wider context. I really don't understand what is controversial about saying this.

Although you might not mean it this way, sounds like your giving credit for the win to Leicesters own problems rather then the team playing well.

At the end of the day they are still professional footballers, some of them premier league standard ones. The majority of the context applies to their games against sunderland and hull as well. Who are both above us and failed to capitalise on Leicesters current context and win.

There is always a chance to get a win, no matter the opposition. But you still have to go out and get it, which is the harder part.

Good win both, but Saints and Leicester both in shaky form when visiting. Played both at a good time.

What? Saints were 20+ unbeaten? Hadn’t lost in 11 away games?

Why are you making up lies? It does your credibility no good when your making up lies about another poster.

At NO point did I did I personally say I was more excited qbour a hair cut.

    What I said was -

"An hour and a half until kick off and I'm waiting for my hair to be cut, that's how excited I am for this"

At no point did I say I'm more excited about a hair cut. I don't appreciate you making up lies about me. Its not cool and says an awful lot and makes any bizarre point you're trying to make invalid as you have zero credibility.

All right, bit of a misquote my bad, doesn’t defer from my point though.

And you definitely did say you had “very little motivation for todays game” yet you expected a result?

  9. 2 minutes ago, ExiledAjax said:

It doesn't need to be a direct impact. I'm not saying that Vardy has been storming into the accounts room demanding that they file the 22/23 accounts.

But when the DoF is cancelling meetings with the manager because he's got to go to emergency summits with the owner, and that means the manager is livid and then he schedules an extra training session, where he's a grumpy shit. Yeh that impacts them.

People are petty, egos are fragile, and issues cause ripples.

    Tbf that works both ways.

Could make similar points about the state of our club, but at the end of the day we came into the game as the worse side and won. simple as imo.

Think it’s harsh to brush todays game aside as us beating a side ripe for the taking.

As you are the only person that seemingly knows how Manning wants to play, please can you inform the rest of us what that is?

At no point did I claim I know exactly how Manning wants to play, nor that i was the ‘chosen one’ who can see it?

Just stating that the composure of MJ and Twines ability to play in the hole, on the half turn which are both lacking elsewhere in the squad are vital assets to LM. And as they have been injured recently it’s harder to define LMs current  ability/progress he’s made since he’s come in.

What confuses me is the fact that after good performances against teams like West Ham, Forest, Southampton etc you are baffled how many of us thought we'd get a result today.

You personally said you had barely any motivation for todays game and were more excited about a haircut.

Yet at the same time you were expecting us to win? Yep the logic really tracks there.

Totally understand if you’re Manning out but if you aren’t going to consider both sides of the debate and give merits when they are deserved because we were somehow expecting to beat a side 35 points ahead of us, 10x the squad value, what’s the point debating in the first place.

I can’t remember who is was that made the observation that under LJ, they’d be at a point where they thought he should go and then he’d pull a result out, and they softened, and started to give him the benefit of doubt again. All it was really doing was delaying the inevitable, as the downward trend was set after the first half of 17/18. It was a bumpy downward trend with some upswings, but a downward one nonetheless.

And that’s broadly where I am today. I thought it was an excellent performance - we pushed higher up the pitch, played with intensity and there were a few excellent performances (O’Leary, James and then just below that Pring, Roberts, Sykes and Knight). Yes, we had our luck in the Vardy chances but in the same way that a striker deserves credit for a great finish, Max deserves the credit for the saves.

But in essence, it changes nothing. We were here against Southampton and it reverted to the trend very quickly thereafter. Today, we can be pleased with a job well done and credit to both coach and players. But for it to change anyone’s opinion in view of the overall sample size to date is really not sensible.

Think it just confirms a couple of things for me, once in luck twice is a pattern as the saying goes. He can set us up to beat teams at the top end of the division. It doesn’t change things immediately but gives him a chance to prove himself in the last 7 games.

I was close to writing him off personally but i’m less certain now. Just have a knack he has something about him 🤷‍♂️

Do you think James will get offered a contract extension then? And Twine obviously isn't ours.

If they're instrumental to how he wants to play he has a funny way of showing it!

Don’t know if James being offered a contract extension is completely up to him? If it is i apologise but i don’t see why he won’t get offered one. Maybe he sees Max Bird as his replacement?

But he clearly wanted Twine permanently in Jan and James has gone straight back into the team on his return to fitness. Rightly so imo.

For me today opens up lots of questions, mainly centred around - why haven’t we played with that intent over the last x games, why have we too readily dropped into a low block, etc, etc?

    The opportunity has been there!

I hope he’s learned what works for Bristol City at this level and he kicks on.

Shame Twine and James have missed so many games this side of January, think they are instrumental to how LM actually wants to play. Would’ve given a much better scope on things going into the summer now.

Needs to show he can learn from his previous mistakes now, has enough games left to turn opinions, it’s up to him to make that happen!

What is strange about it?   I am astounded that you have jumped on the "Manning out" bandwagon....considering he has had one transfer window?  I have always respected your opinion, but on this occasion i cannot help but feel you are way off target.  It is not a 'Pop" but merely an observation, that in my opinion , instead of using logic and commonsense, you  are being swept along by the negativity that prevails on this forum.   I am confident that next season we will be in the top 6 under LM.  He is NOT going anywhere, so we better get used to it?

Strange one, i’m more then manning in then out camp as well but both sides are completely reasonable?

Just because someone might not be imminently going doesn’t mean people can’t voice their opinions on them. Bit weird mate.

I think most of us probably expected us to win today. Because thats what we do under Manning.

    Today's result changes nothing.

WHEN we can beat the teams that plays in a low block, then things will change.

Just like the thousands of others that are not renewing?

    Expected us to win?

    Changes nothing?

I understand everyone’s opinions differ but this just really confuses me.
