  1. Was there a ransom demand Tone ? Did they use force in the takeover ,or was it a case , they just pulled the wool over the teachers eyes ?
  2. Regarding the Cup Final , I think you have a fair point , less so the WC semi where , and after a very good performance , he got himself together and did fine But remember , not only had he just broken into International football , but he he was 19/20 and was a big kid with a unique nervous energy (Stories of other players recalling how at WC he’d knock in their door asking them to play tennis .... at 3am! ?) In that World Cup He was pivotal , not necessarily for a goal or historical moments , but as our energy ,drive and ‘vibe’ and our constant threat to the opposition , (besides keeping the whole squad entertained !) He was only just starting , and learning and sadly , because of that drive and nervous energy he caused himself the injury in the cup final and we never got to see what he could have been. Hoddle was a beautiful talented player with some mouthwatering technique, but he didn’t have some of Gazzas ability to drive past players with ease or frighten teams like Gazza I saw both , live , at World Cups and a very young Gazza stood out more than Hoddle All just my thought
  3. He was half the player in 96 (Still very decent) that he was in 89/90/91prior to his injury A genius who could make the ball talk I had the privilege of seeing him on the training pitch at Italia 90 , in Sardinia and he was something else with a ball and in his behaviour A cross between Maradona and Lee Evans He was absolutely brilliant with the fans , as many as photos and signatures as people wanted , jumping the security fence so fans , could take photos with him. He was a totally unique talent , and best English player I’ve seen ,prior to that injury * Could burst past players in spades , pass any distance , hit a ball sweet as a nut , and was full of beans and energy Foden will push that accolade i
  4. I bet (inwardly) he detests Scott’s low socks and children’s shin pads a la Grealish ! Never quite got this - anyone aware of Grealish or another Giving a decent explanation why ?
  5. part football , part water polo BOOM Great through ball and finish
  6. What with the new housing on the old Fry’s Factory , I’m not surprised , though I would have thought that would be Keynsham
  7. You reminded me - I watched the below the other day and found it a really enjoyable and interesting watch , that I think may appeal to a few , especially those old enough to remember this period Its the story of Howard Wilkinson rebuild of Leeds after they dropped into the now Championship , some years post Revie, before winning the League Title in second season back (The last English manager I guess to win the Top title) The characters he recruited, the personalities and ‘winners’ on the training ground and on the pitch.
  8. I do wonder whether , when listening to recent player arrival interviews , and the aspects that attracted them here, whether he reflects on his failure to act , back , when he asked Danny Wilson what he would do with a million pounds if he gave him it , with Wilson’s reply he’d build a top training ground , (sorry High Performance Centre)
  9. Tin Hat Nah , Babas traditional and choice of headwear is much more
  10. Is that a Robin ? Looks like a golden eagle to me !
  11. You didn’t sell your third part shares when HL first started , for about £40 did you ?
  12. I assume as you have disciples - You are the ‘chosen one’ Move forward ........First cross on the left please ?
  13. People moaning about over rates , when they (both sides) are serving up extrodinary entertainment ? 12 or 15 overs an hour isn’t relevant
  14. Yes , of course , you can improve slightly / maximise what god gave you but he will never be blistering (That’s not a criticism)
  15. Spent a very enjoyable 90 odd mins watching that and watching Scott like a hawk , imagining if I was reporting back to a potential suitor in the Premier League Tried to watch for any positives and negatives Getting the negatives out of the way they amounted to two very minor ones , the only ones I could even mention in the 90 Arguing with Lino and lucky not to get yellow , and one unnecessary ‘flick’ late on losing possession - the sum total of negatives in 90 mins As for the positives , there were numerous , the obvious , his first touch , composure , use of the ball , his defensive work , Winning the ball , winning free kicks ....the list was tick tick tick ,and possibly what impressed me as much as any of the obvious , was his maturity and game intelligence and awareness without the ball , constantly on the move , adjusting his position, filling holes , blocking passing lanes , in a high block - so impressive for someone of that age , and when we had the ball , always looking to make an angle to receive the ball. Id describe it personally as a very accomplished all round performance , and particularly for one his age If you were desperately looking for any comment on his overall make up as a player , I can only suggest that he ideally would like an extra yard of pace, he’s certainly not slow , but compared to some he’s not blistering It would help occasionally when he slips past somebody but he cant do much about that and compensates with his touch , opponent awareness and cleverness Add to how easily he changed position in the game , and the trust in him to do so - He can literally play any role in middle of park , as a 10 , or wide in a three I also think he has a real competitive edge to him , a bit of fire edging on ruthless if needed Another real tick for me He even looks like he’s rolled out of a Manchester or Liverpool suburb , not Jersey I really think his choice of destination when he departs is vital - I’d be totally looking for a side that are possession based Credit to the whole team , in their discipline and shape - very impressive , and bloody hell do we have some monsters coming through Half The team were built like Linford Christie , as powerful , and nearly as quick , but with the technical ability of top end players - frightening
  16. I don’t know whether they still do , but 6 a side cricket (5 overs) was a very competitive Annual Evening Competition involving some decent local clubs , Keynsham etc But professionally , I totally agree with you
  17. I’m more than happy to pay a bit extra if it helps vapourise Putins Puppets
  18. He didn’t name players who he regarded as not on the bus (Albeit it appeared fairly obvious) I see it , not just a message to those that aren’t , but a wider message to all players
  19. I was thinking more the person in front ! ? What do you class as ‘throwing under a bus’
  20. He’s still on holiday , or was certainly in Maldives yesterday And hence .......Unsurprisingly , no sign of him at pre season
  21. Unfortunately when people are throwing bottles , flares etc Theres no chance
  22. If that was the case he ,mor the lad from posh wouldn’t be in the squad
  23. Totally agree - he looked a class act and appeared totally relaxed and in control - looked to have more time than anyone Good all round game including a couple of ball winning sliding challenges (Careful with foreign refs tho Alex) . His ability to play 360 is very impressive and watching his every move off the ball , Reading when to support , when to hold, reacting early when he sensed we were about to lose possession. Very , very good I don’t think I’m over hyping him , but could I see him at Man City in future , yes I could
