  1. No Gerry , Ralph There are dozens I’ve loved to bits , including Merrick but those I mentioned hold a special place personally I guess three , now four with Andi besides being very good players at different levels , literally left everything on the pitch Chris Garland was our goals man when I first started going And Bob ..... no real need to explain !
  2. I’ve only really had five City heroes in my lifetime that have remained so Chris Garland Sir Gerry Tom Ritchie Bob Taylor Glyn Riley Thats the respect I hold him in Gaz * I’d probably now add Andi Weimann to that small list
  3. Effervescent Is indeed a good way of describing him Gaz Firstly Id say he was Andi Weimann ish (Without Andis pace) Got stuck in and competed great for his size Ran his legs off , I can still picture him putting everything he had left with his socks rolled down late in games Always gave %100 and gave us a ‘head’ , a real team player Notched a pretty decent goal return Very Inspirational to fan base , which was important then , in his commitment and interaction and his joy when we won or he scored , notably jumping onto the fence at the East End after scoring For where we were and what we desperately neede , he was gold dust and bloody good
  4. No one ‘plays down the (exact) middle Weimann plays behind the two You appear desperate to pigeon hole Semenyo wide in a three to , in some misguided way think it will keep alive your argument , or what’s left of it , that he ‘isn't a striker’ Out of interest , If NP did play him either side in a flat front three - what would you be calling him ? A winger ?
  5. Think you need to read my post again Id play him in a two , at the moment with Tommy Conway
  6. A major part and reason for our climb back Was just wonderful for us , inspiring Legend
  7. I’d guess if he’s been carrying a hip problem for a significant period - problems with the knee might not be unexpected
  8. Totally agree He likes to ‘roam’ , you certainly don’t want to restrict him No different from Weimann really You could play a flat front three with Antoine / Tommy / Andi and have Antoine and Andi constantly making out to in diagonal runs around Conways movement - it could be devastating But why change what’s working Antoine / Conway , Antoine / Martin , Antoine / Wells , with Andi bursting from behind all sound decent to me !
  9. Combination of things I’d summise Pearson and coaching staffs influence , trust , etc But probably more significant His injury - or rather his gym work and how he used his recovery time to analyse his own game - Pearson was clearly impressed by it And , the influence , help and advice of Martin , Weimann & Wells
  10. Fair play to Les Some excellent comments IMHO , not sure I could I disagree with hardly anything he said Made some excellent points and talked some common sense
  11. You could say that ! It would also take weeks and weeks on training ground to try and coach It would be ‘eventful’ !!
  12. So you end up with Scott and Massengo playing centre half
  13. Yes The Blue & White canvas monstrosity at the Memorial Encampment is called ‘The Rod Hull & Emu Marquee’
  14. Wow, Some sensible and considered posts on this thread ??
  15. Have you seen lots of him then ? I’ve never commented on Wilson or his signing because I’ve seen very little of him , certainly nowhere near enough to have a limited view on his capability for this level at the moment His stats and inclusion in L2 team of year is good , but it doesn’t make him ready for the Championship A lot seemed to swoon over him based on his stats - I can’t believe there are that many (There are some obvious , like Harry who have seen a fair bit ) who have seen lots of him and enough to form a judgement (I’m not saying he is / isn’t , or he won’t turn out to be the best RB we’ve had in decades) Clearly Pearson and coaching staff don’t see him , or Tanner As first choice / ready atm (I quite liked Tanner in brief view we’ve had) Maybe in opposition to higher quality players on training ground some weaknesses for this level have been exposed It doesn’t look great - two RBs brought in , albeit for low cost , but not playing. One things for sure , although it’s far from ideal to have Scott utilised there, Id much rather that , than NP playing Tanner or Wilson if he doesn’t believe they are ready / up to it atm
  16. Be interesting how many would swap a 3-3 draw in Championship with a 9-0 humiliation , but at Anfield , in the Prem
  17. What’s also relevant is a very interesting & relevant post by @Lrrr who said (Please correct me if im mistaken Lrrr) that this year is the first year that those elders in the Academy like Conway have spent their entire time / development under the Academy system - the first full graduates if you like
  18. Pesky opponents having the cheek to try and equalise
  19. Good post And quite right
  20. Quite right Mr P I posted in the match day thread when they scored the opener ‘A proper test for us now’ Thats true , it was 1 down to a physical side , the sort historically we’ve caved into , at a ground where we don’t tend to do well Well we ended up with a point , and nearly 3 As frustrating as the equaliser was we didn’t fail the test , we might not have got an A+ but we didn’t fail
  21. I think you have to go back to Kevin Mabbutt !! as a true home grown forward of note (Still early days for TC but what a start ) !! Racking my grey matter but can’t come up with one since ( Bobby Reid of course depending how you view him positionally )
  22. Frustration is ingrained with Life as a City fan Isn’t that the truth But there’s some really good things happening and personally I’m really enjoying the progression and play if Scott , the rapid significance of Antoine , the incredible start for Tommy ... the effort of Weimann , the influence and presence of very good senior pros around the HPC , rather than those that disrupt and set a crap culture , enjoying their impact on the young ones , enjoying quite a lot of the football being played , enjoying listening to Pearson and his straightforward and honest words..... I still hate when we concede ,especially when we **** up , let alone when we lose ...... but that’s football and City have rarely ever failed to deliver more than our fair share But im enjoying it and really pleased that clearly many are enjoying it at the moment - That ultimately is the most important thing of all We are getting back the ‘honest’ sort of Club we do when we are at our best
  23. Because Harry Forstly you were incredibly protective and defensive regarding him , and certainly never started critical threads , but appear to have been anti-Pearson from the off and almost sulky at the positivity that’s been around If it wasn’t for the Scouting initiative I’d say almost ‘anti club’ FWIW I think the majority of the fans are sensible both in their current expectations , and the restrictions I also get the impression that the majority can see what Pearson has done and is doing Not everything is running perfectly (I agree signing Tanner and Wilson and having to play AS there doesn’t appear ideal or the plan, We are a fair distance from perfect , but it’s good to see fans enjoying honest performances , enjoying seeing the introduction of our ‘own’ players , enjoying those players performing well , the front foot and honest football Its a shame (genuine) you don’t appear to I posted in the week - when was it noticeably brighter or potentially brighter at this level ?
  24. No one can argue that their equaliser was a monumental **** up , feeling even worse due to the timing of it But for weeks we’ve had ‘When we are leading why can’t we keep the ball’ if I was coaching I’d be saying ‘Where’s your next pass , Are you being closed down and in danger of losing possession or are your option(s) for the pass in similar peril’ Thats the time to hit the channel IMHO King kept possession It appears, to me at least Naysmith is the one who’s made the bad decision I’m not sure knocking it into the channel is his first thought His instinct to play / keep possession will benefit us , but will cost us again , they arn’t robots ;(Though you’d hope & expect them to learn / improve)
