The premier league sold out to sky years ago, in fact that basically why it was created. This is what you get.

And Sky and BBC would have you believe football didn't exist prior to the creation.

I remember being in tears walking out of the ground the day I went to see him play in the reserves on his comeback and seeing him being carried off the pitch again.

Perhaps my saddest day as a City supporter.

Such a cruel injury he sustained against Shilton. A crying shame the medical knowledge and appropriate surgery and rehabilitation weren't available to him in those days.

On a happier note, happy birthday Cheese and thanks for the memories 👍

I have a hazy recollection (maybe complete bollocks, mind you) of Peter being involved in an incident in the goalmouth at the East End whereby he and an opposing defender simultaneously kicked/blocked the ball and it burst! Never seen it happen before or since. Of course, it may never have happened and I’ve just dreamt it. Anyone?

Yes @Rudolf Hucker, I was going to post the same thing. I was on the East End railings in line with the right hand post. Reckon it happened just inside the right hand side of the six yard box as you looked from the EE. Hell of a noise with 50/50 tackle and burst ball. I remember Spiring was laid down holding his leg afterwards. Well remembered @slartibartfast if the Leicester player was Whitworth, I always had it in my mind that it was David Nish but probably wrong.

The dark haired player is the other Gordon ,Parr. As Gordon was a right half back it would be the 6 shirt..so not sure. Sad to hear his passing, very much in my team as a youth. Parr Connor Low...some threesome in front of Thresher and Briggs.

Right half was no 4 so could be GL lying on the floor. Shirt no 6 was left half.

Not sure. Only 5 countries have ever played in a world cup final: SA, NZ, France, Australia and England.

England are fourth most successful on that list behind NZ and SA (3 wins each) and Australia (2 wins).

Given the player pool at England's disposal and money pumped into the game, starting from public school education to the Premiership clubs, I think you could argue England's record is modest.

What percentage of kids play rugby at schools in England though? Neither my junior school nor my senior school played it therefore I still don't really understand the rules.
