  1. I'm from Winterbourne and Frampton originally. It was full of gas in the 80's. It wasn't great in the early 80's being a kid as a City fan back then. I live in yate now and still have a few gas friends, they take the piss out of themselves than what we are doing. I've got a young lad who's, 19 and works as my labourer, he's a City fan and has never seen a derby. I couldn't give a shit if they ended up playing on the Downs.
  2. Joey Bartons blue and white "Dad's army"?
  3. When Joey gets a pay off from the gas will he be taking the cash in a wael-barrow?
  4. I thought we really deserved that today. They had chances but so did we, the most important thing was we played as a team. We were as good off the ball as we were on it. A really well battling performance. Coyrs.
  5. Great post it just about sums them up. We are the bigger club. They had smash and grab, we had cheese and Tom. In 1983-84 we were in the league below and still had bigger crowds with a team filled with oaps and youth players, take a bow TC and Martyn Hirst. We were rock bottom in 82 but we still had our own ground. Rovers were rock bottom in 1986 because they couldn't get enough fans through the turnstiles and of course sold their ground to the dogs in the 1950's and leased it back. Thus Eastville wasn't theirs. I couldn't give a toss about them to be honest to me they've always had a small man syndrome about them.
  6. One of the last games I watched with my late grandad, he never swore in his life. He did that night, we were sat in front of the rovers directors and he gave them the w'anchor sign and said, "pick ee out the stingers you barstewards".
  7. I like your thinking lols, I should still get a million for watching City for 40 odd years, like many others. Coyrs.
  8. One of my earliest memories was of Glynn Riley scoring a equaliser at the County ground. I was stood at the front when he jumped onto the fencing, I joked with him many years later that he nearly killed me. I also recall a 1-0 win with Junior " can't hit a cows arse with a banjo" Bent scoring.
  9. And so you should mate, you've won the league Cup been in the Premier league. You played some good stuff back in the day under macarri, ossie and hoddle.
  10. Derby could be fined Tena Pants.
  11. Remind me what time is "having a laugh" on radio Bristol tomorrow? Can't say I've ever listened but might well do with a nice bottle of RED!
  12. I've said before on this thread growing up in Winterbourne and Frampton in the early 80's was not a good time. How I loved that Martyn Hirst winner. We were back. It was crap in 1990 but God did his hamstring. They've got a real personality complex with us now and then, I couldn't give a shit about them and hope they end up on the downs leagues.
  13. Sorry if it's already been mentioned but his assistant Andy Mangan was banned for 5 months for betting on a game he was involved in. Rovers do have form for that though they love a bung.
  14. I started watching City in late 1981 after of course came the collapse of 82. I can still remember those squatters wishing we'd go bust and sell them our ground which had previously graced Liverpool, Man utd, Arsenal and Gillingham! For a 8-9 year old it was horrible living in Winterbourne and then Frampton Cotterill back then. The fight back for me was when Martyn Hirst scored the winner at Eastville. They say the game is about ifs and buts. Believe me if Bob Taylor wouldn't of done his hamstring he'd of got 40 odd goals and they wouldn't still be basking as champions 30 years on. We move on to today and I don't even know their players names and haven't regarded them as rivals for 20 years.
  15. Being born in 74 unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see him live. I have meet him several times and he is a total gentleman. He could of been the best in his generation so I'm told. Mariner was no mug.
  16. Hawksbee and Jacobs want to get in contact with him to chat on the show later in the week apparently. I just caught the tell end of it, they mentioned his knee injury and some shoot article he did back in the day.
  17. I was 10 years old at the time and still remember a bloke with broken glasses and claret everywhere, if I recall Howard Pritchard was fouled and the ref awarded a free kick to Reading from which they scored. All hell broke loose. I can remember the Torquay game away. Stones being thrown from a graveyard. Happy days all character building lols.
  18. I've always been fond of Bolton due to the fact we always seemed to beat them in the 80's. And of course that day at at Wembley in 1986. Perhaps we could help them out with some of our fringe players, it would definitely harden them up with a backs against the wall sort of attitude. It made men of Newman and llewellyn.
  19. What the greyhound company they sold their ground to, thus making them homeless in the mid 80's because they didn't have enough supports to pay their rent?
