  2. Big game this. Hope we play well, even if we get beat. A heavy defeat would make Sunday extremely toxic.

Just what this forum needed, another Tinnion and Manning thread.
  4. I agree and disagree. Hear me out. I was not a Pearson fan, never warmed to him. Respected the job he done, but never felt like we would achieve anything. I kind of feel he done the job he was tasked to do, but I was not sorry to see him go. I don't think we would have ever progressed with Nige at the helm. That said, I don't think we would be playing like a team in free fall. Pearson was the right man at the right time, but in my eyes, he would have never been the man to get us promoted. Now, I was and am willing to give Liam Manning a clean slate, it was a big task, and wanted to give him time to get the players to adapt to his football and make changes he saw fit, however, what I've seen in the last 3 games, the bloke is sleep walking us to relegation. He may have his own ideas and may want us to play a certain way, but it doesn't suit this group of players, so his changes need to be filtered in over time, if he continues to ignore what is blatantly obvious and continues to make players play a way that they physically can't and look more lost than bo peeps sheep, then he is either way too arrogant or tactically clueless. Whichever it is, Manning Ball has to go on the back burner. That's not to say long term it may not suit us better with his own squad, but with this squad we'll be in league one quicker than Brian Tinnion leaves Twitter again..... Manning may come good, but what he is doing is absolutely soul destroying and unless he wakes up fast and see's that, then he has to go. It's very quickly showing that Manning was not the answer, but neither was keeping Pearson long term in my eyes. It's very well known, I liked Lee Johnson and gave him more time and patience than most, and I try to be fair to every manager and give them time, but for me, I just don't see Manning adapting and I have no faith in his football with this group of players. I don't know enough as to what BT does, and the role he has at this club, but this was his decision. Not so much the departure of Pearson, which I can understand, albeit for me, I would have allowed Nige to see out his contract and thanked him for his time and leadership, but stated that we wanted to bring in someone younger with fresher ideas. Nige was pushing for a new contract he was never going to get. I think the club got it wrong. They should have said, that they thanked Nige for the job he done, but they wanted to change things at the end of the season and even asked Nige to help with the process of finding a new manager, even maybe offering Nige a role upstairs, those are things I feel we could have and probably should have done. But for me, Nige would not have ever taken us up, he suited the job he was tasked to do, not the task for the next man. However, Liam Manning is not looking like he's the man for anything. I personally feel we have to act now, for the sake of the club. Tinnion and Manning have to go. SL and JL have taken their eye off the ball, and allowed someone completely unqualified and out of his depth to run the footballing side of the club and they have failed abysmally. Manning was Tinnion's appointment, and the buck stops with him. If Manning is not the answer, then Tinnion has to go as well. If Tinnion is not the answer, then Manning as his man has to go. That said, bringing Nige back is not the answer also. There's 12 games left, we can go back to basics and pick up enough points to stay up (we shouldn't even be looking at that scenario!) and evaluate at the end of the season and look to bring in the right man. Myself, for the sake of 12 games, I would give Andy King the player manager role, but he should not be a consideration for the permanent managers post. It's just about getting to the summer in the Champioonship. But if Lansdown doesn't step in and end this nightmare that is rapidly imploding on us, then he has completely lost me. I've no qualms about JL being our chairman, he is only doing as his Dad has asked him to do. But if SL has any respect for the fans, desire for this club to be successful and wants to keep his legacy of this club with any degree of purpose, then Monday morning Tinnion and Manning have to be relived of their duties and this route must NEVER be explored again. Bring in a proper CEO, a proper Director of Football, and employ someone who has been successful at this level. If he is unwilling to do this, then in my opinion, he is WORSE than the problem that has been created.
  5. Or could be admitting they were wrong to give Tinnion the power they have.
  6. I have a feeling that Manning and Tinnion will leave the club this week. JL won't want to take responsibility, so he'll lay this all at Tinnion's door, and say he has to act. The only way we can sack Manning, is if Tinnion is sacked as well. I think Lansdown ill take action by Monday morning.
  7. We look incapable of getting a decent ball in the box, not that there is anyone there to do anything with it.
  8. Not sure how Williams wasn't subbed and now gifts them a goal against the grain. We really are awful.
  9. Breaking News at Ashton Gate. Cure for insomnia has been discovered.
  10. Wells has probably been our best outlet. I would take King off, and bring on Mehmeti and go two up top
  11. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I want to pick up on two points you make. Firstly, I agree, that TC is still very raw, he has potential and he may not be at the top of his game yet. That said, he is a player demanding a wage which would make him one of the clubs top earners, if not the top earner and for me, he has not earned that yet. He is listening to his Premier League buddies, and some of the raw hype and imo I believe that TC believes he can just waltz into another top club, and that he too, can be like his mates on big bucks in the premier league. It is because of this, I don't think he will make it, and will end up, being a mid table Championship player, not because he doesn't have the potential, or the ability to be a better player, but because he is making a fatal error career wise, that he is right now better than he actually is. This leads me on to my second point, Conway has been aided by Nahki Wells and in many ways has looked a shadow of the player since we have moved away from that partnership for numerous reasons. Therefore I believe they complement each other, and without that pairing, in many ways, both have struggled. Good partnerships are as you say a great thing and one has to be the provider and the other has to put them away, but when you remove that nucleus, you often see a player struggle. I think Conway has struggled without Wells, and Wells has struggled without Conway, but I think the chances of Conway getting the same service, unselfishness from other players is unlikely, and because he seems unable to have a different side to him, in that he can't really make goals, I think he will ultimately struggle to make an impact at this level. I know I will be called mad, but I would like to see a 2 up top of Mehmeti and Wells given a run out. Nahki holds the ball well, brings players off their man and can make those clever switches and passes to feed a player. I think Anis, works too hard, he wants to do everything himself and he wants to do all the tricks, in playing out wide, he is invited to take on his man, which he does so well, until his final ball or end product lets him down. That said, he has pace, he has a bit of trickery in him, and I think playing off Nahki and keeping it simple with a top 2, he will find more space, more positioning to take on his man, and get in the positions to score goals. For me, Anis is the potential turn a corner player we have, he just needs to be focussed on a path and be played in a position that will utilise his strengths. As a winger, he reminds me a lot of Bobby Reid, in that he flattered to deceive, but playing up top, I think could see a completely different player and one who could score and be involved in a lot of goals. I hope Manning gives him a shot up top pre season, as I could see it really transforming Anis into the player he has the potential to be, and unlike Conway, he actually wants to be here.
  12. Tommy has done okay, and has scored goal, but he isn't a key player who can't be replaced, or one who can walk into any club in this league, neither will he have premier league clubs jumping all over him. If he's not signing a new deal, just sell him to the highest bidder. I've no doubt, that give it 3/4 years, TC will be playing for someone like Swansea or Cardiff and be a bit part player. He isn't as good as he thinks he is, and he benefitted most from an unselfish Wells, who gifted him a number of goals last season, when he could have taken them himself. If we get 2/3m great. But he's not a player I'll be sad to see go.
  13. He looked miles off when I saw him. Its a good move for him. Hopefully he can tear up that league and give us something to work on in the pre-season, but given a league two team can't loan anyone, it makes sense to let him go non league for a few months.
  14. Pearson's sacking was nothing to do with money. The club simply didn't like that he was more respected than them, in certain elements of the supporter base, and when things weren't going well for him, he went public to keep the fans on his side. The second he done this, there is no way the club would sit there and stand for it. Pearson was not sacked for football or financial reasons! It was because those running the club simply didn't like him, his approach or his popularity. The day he questioned Jon Lansdown's ambition, was the day he secured his P45. The new appointments are definitely all on Tinnion, but I don't think he was behind NP's sacking, he secured that all by himself.
  15. Pearson was no better and we were equally as inconsistent. Sacking Manning to bring back Pearson would be like swapping Pasta for Spaghetti, it won't achieve anything and will just be exactly the same, only look a little different.
  16. If they sacked him tomorrow morning, Lee Johnson would be back here by Tuesday tea time, you can bet your life on it.
  17. Also, be careful what you wish for. If they thought we've made a mistake and sacked on Monday, you can bet your life Tinnion and Lansdown would bring back Lee Johnson until the end of the season, and we would probably win a few and they would give him a second crack at it. There's no chance they would go back for Pearson, or an old head on wise shoulders. If they give Manning the boot, they would bring back LJ or make Andy King player manager, so just be careful what you wish for.
  18. We went on some poor runs under Pearson, tbh, no matter who manages us, we are a false hope club. We win a few and everyone thinks this is it, then we lose to two teams we expect to beat. We've been doing this since, 2016, we are probably the most inconsistent across all 4 leagues! Doesn't make a blind bit of difference who is the manager / coach!
  19. Why do we make it such hard work at the back, I mean, why why why do we try to play football in our own half! Just clear it FFS
  20. Jet was a proper maverick, outstanding on the ball, but bone idle without it. That said, he could always do something special, and made the games entertaining. Nobes and Trundle before him, Tomlin after him, we miss having that sort of player that can change a game with a flip of a coin.
  21. You would know more about that side of things than me, so fair enough, but I was fortunate to have a chat with someone at the club recently, who told me NP told JL he had no ambition, and there was no point him being there if he wasn't willing to back him. That sounded to me, like he was making demands, and made his own bed.
  22. One team is fighting for nothing, one team is fighting for everything.
  23. Why shouldn't he? There are people who have done far worse still coaching, managing, playing etc
