  1. Whilst I would agree Schumacher would have been a good appointment, I don't think he would have left Plymouth for us. I would personally have Manning over Richardson or Eustace.
  2. They want a young coach, who will play possession football, and look to develop young players. They didn't want a manager, with their own ideas, they wanted someone who would work within the parameters set. Anyone who may have been interested, would have dropped their interest when they knew the confounds they had to work with, so in reality Manning was probably the best candidate willing to work within those limits. For all, everyone says, we should have kept Pearson. Nige was at a point where I'm sure he felt, right we have done the hard part, we've steadied the ship, but now I want to do it this way and have the backing, and that was not what the club wanted, so in many ways, he done the job he was employed to do, but needed someone new to continue the set model and try and get more out of what we had. You may not be wrong in your assessment, but Manning reminds me of a young Eddie Howe, more than a young Lee Johnson. I think he'll come good, but I do think he was thrown in at the deep end.
  3. This would definitely be a reason. A friend of mine who played always said, you have to consider the next contract you sign could be your last, so it's better to go to a club that would give you a long deal and a chunk of money, than a more desirable club who may give you less money and less years. Some clubs don't consider giving more than 2-3 year contracts as they think it makes players get comfortable and lazy.
  4. Could we though? What so called bigger names came out as being linked, or applied, or wanted the position. Manning has to start somewhere, and clearly was considered the best of the younger brigade of coach we wanted to employ. It's alright saying we could have done better, so name who we could have hired who was better, and fit the remit the club wanted?
  5. In some countries, including USA, and some in Europe, if a sentence is passed down, which in affect could have been suspended, or deemed harsh, you could lodge appeal on sentencing, and in these cases, the defendant would be bailed if they have already been on bail until the conclusion of the hearing. I,e if appeal rejected, the defendant would have to present themselves to the police to be jailed. In the UK, if you are jailed, you go straight to jail, you can obviously appeal sentence or conviction, but it happens whilst you are banged up, and if it was overturned, you would receive compensation. Lets not forget, Adam Johnson carried on playing right up until his guilty verdicts. In some European countries, sentences of under 3 years, mean you can serve the sentence in the community doing voluntary work, or on probation. In Spain, you can get a jail sentence of 3 years but effectively not have to spend a day in jail, you do however have to adhere to a curfew, can't undertake paid work, and have to surrender your passport.
  6. How has this thread turned into a Manning Vs Pearson debate ?
  7. One of my best mates is an Arsenal fan. His tickets have been used on every game, but he's transferred his seat for 7 games and sold it back to the club on 2 games, as he's not been able to attend or had friends who could, he's activated his seat for European games and cups. He got an email the other day telling him, he would not be eligible for renewal for lack of attendance!
  8. "We're Bristol City, We Moan Every Week"
  9. I don't Manning is doing a bad job, he's not excelling either, but the tools he inherited, are pretty run of the mill at this level. I look at a team and think how many of our players would walk into another competitive team in the league. I think we probably have 3 players who tick that box, with Vyner, Matty James and Cam Pring being that three. Jason Knight and Scott Twine are others who not far off that sort of level. Pearson inherited a better group of players, than Manning has. Granted post Pearson inherited were on too much money or not always firing, but Weimann, Kalas, Scott, Semenyo, to name but 4 were all decent at this level, or highly regarded. Yes Pearson done what he could, but we weren't progressing and we wouldn't be doing much if any better if he was still here. I personally think that every signing bar Twine would have happened if Pearson was still here too. I have no doubt, many of these were planned and our recruitment team had certain things in place, but what input Manning had, on the January signings I'm unsure, I suspect he was pushing for Twine though, and he is probably the only signing you can accredit to Manning. I wouldn't say Manning has under achieved either, but the lack of a plan B is holding us back, but imo the Southampton performance has been our best this season, and we never looked capable of that under Nige. Nige was not the answer, only time will tell if Manning is, but I'm reserving judgement until next season when he will have the basics of his squad and players will know his system.
  10. Not sure I buy into this. When Yeboah was playing, most people were saying, he wasn't ready, he needed a loan etc. Manning has signed two young players in January. There are many routes to progression, it doesn't mean, just chucking every player in at the deep end. Pearson on occasion because of injuries, had no choice but to thrust a number of youngsters in to the fold, so I wouldn't be so quick to praise this is giving lads progression, we literally had no choice. Now we are near to full strength again, it's going to be harder for these players to get game time, but doesn't mean they are miles off. I'm sure 1/2 will filter through each season, but it's worth considering if we are buying 17/18 year olds who are potentially first team players in time, and they go in the U18s or U23s for a year, In many ways these are still academy progressions. Manning just wants to use the best players he has available. I am sure when our season is over, 2/3 of those close to the first team will get game time, but there's nothing to suggest that Manning doesn't buy into the thesis of the powers that be, it's just people over thinking and trying to make something out of nothing.
  11. Jess Glynne is an interesting one, she is not an RNB artist, or a hip hop / grime act. People were saying that all the acts would fit that style of music. I have a feeling after such poor sales, they've had a rethink, and decided to go mixed styles, hence bringing in Jess Glynne. I would not be surprised to see a couple more poppy types announced. There is no doubt imo Jess Glynne is the biggest draw thus far, and they've not even used the word headliner.
  12. Hi Dave; Only just seen this when I got home. Otherwise would have definitely said hello. Was a nice day despite the result and the people who came of which one of them who brought their kid for their first ever game, I hope had a great day.
  13. As per thread yesterday, I have 2 passes for Hospitality Today at the Gate. I have two spare, and it starts from 12.20 where we get a tour of the ground, before full hospitality. Currently these two are going to waste, so if anyone would like to join us, please inbox me. I need to leave home around 10.15am today, so please message me prior to 10am, so I can email the tickets to whoever wants them. All the best.
  14. Still got these two available. Hopefully someone will contact me to take them.
  15. 2 of them have now been taken, but still have 2 remaining.
  16. I don't know who that was, but if you wish to bring this thread to his attention and he contacts me, I'm more than happy to help. I don't know how to do that.
  17. Thanks guys. So far however, no one has messaged me, so effectively, there are 4 tickets I can give to guests going to waste, which is a great shame.
  18. Good Morning; Wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope it's okay. Tomorrow, the company I run is the Match Sponsor for the QPR match. So far, a friend of mine from years ago and his son who plays for Swindon under 13s and a couple of mates are joining me, but the people who finance the business, are away on holiday, so I was told I could use all the tickets. With that, I have 4 spaces to join me as a guest tomorrow in full hospitality, tour of the ground and to be my guests. The company I run, is all about giving back and creating opportunities for those less fortunate. Personally, my life has gone through hell and had problems which has led to massive personal fall from graces which mean my mental health is a complete wreck, but I enjoy nothing more than trying to make people happy and creating possibilities for those who may not have the chance to do so in life. I had reached out to a couple of City fans who I used to know, and actually let down in life, to try and repair past problems, but my emails and Facebook messages went unanswered. I was hoping they would join me, so I could try and start to repair those bonds, as when your life is pretty lonely and a wreck it's never great fun. Anyhow, I have four spaces and I would love to make it possible for a couple of people and a friend / partner of theirs to join me tomorrow and have a great day out. Maybe someone who has been through the mire, or downturn in life and they could never afford to have an experience like this. I'm not looking for people who normally go to games, or just want a free upgrade, I'm after 2 really deserving people who this opportunity would mean a lot to. If anyone knows of anyone deserving, could they drop me an inbox, so I can pick a couple of people and contact them and invite them to be a guest of ours tomorrow. I hope it is okay to post this, and I did reach out to Davefevs last night to see if he knew anyone, as he always came across as a really decent gut to me, but he didn't really know anyone. Would hate to see this opportunity go to waste, so I hope this post is okay. Take care and here's to 3 points tomorrow.
  19. In case anyone missed the Southampton game and wanted to watch it in full now, it's just starting now on 403 on Sky. I know some people like to watch back a game, when they've seen it at the gate.
  20. Manning is taking us all the way, maybe not this season, but he's definitely showing he's the upgrade we needed. We've not played as well as we have the last 2 games in a long long time.
  21. Get In !!!!! Currently 4pts off Playoffs!! In Manning we trust!
  22. Not sure they will cancel, but they got the target audience all wrong. Going all out club music / rnb and grime would not attract 25-30K people in Bristol. You may get away with it at a small location in London, If they went down the party in the park format, they would have sold out easy!
