  1. He does seem very loyal due to previous form in tournaments. And Southgate didn’t seem to think the likes of Sterling and JWP playing well for 3/4 games meant much . I understand the former has pulled out of previous squads which maybe didn’t help his chances .
  2. Can you call a series one of 2 halves ?
  3. Or as they went to Saudi Ronaldo by Portugal and Neymar by Brazil. The fact Philips got called up too suggest to me Southgate hasn’t got much faith in the likes of JWP.
  4. I’d like to think there was no one wanting Ismael out really but guess some will expect instant results. Ok not great on that front but performances have been encouraging and fans have actually enjoyed the the football. Probably the sane ones who then complain the owners sack too many managers too soon! I think most accept the club cutting cost and Pedro was going to leave . There has been disappointment we didn’t get more players in maybe but it’s not as easy as football manager .
  5. I think that was due to an alleged half time incident at West Ham because as you say it seemed totally pointless sacking Pearson with a week left and games v Man C and Arsenal where we were unlikely to get points anyway . We did well under him before COVID too and he seemed to be popular enough so shame we didn’t keep Pearson on but maybe its been your gain ! Yes - was a poor decision but fortunately we saved the penalty. Agree on the own goal - total lack of communication but we do seem to risk playing like that and it’s been a bit dodgy all season ! And as you say they pretty much did the same but nice to have 2 strikers alert to the danger and capitalise. 2 home games after the International break so hopefully get some wins . I think it would be harsh for any manager in this league to lose their job now . As Saturday proved the Championship is so unpredictable you never quite know what is around the corner .
  6. Funny thing is generally we have played quite well but either not got the goals or defending has been poor . Certainly no calls from the fans for a change but never know with our board !
  7. New Zealand turning up at last but England like a challenge!
  8. I think 2026. Agaih it’s one man and the rest fighting between themselves.
  9. Come on lads . Have you forgotten us ?! Had we lost yesterday reckon Ismael would be in trouble- harshly of course as we have generally played ok but not got the results.
  10. Trust us to actually score 3 goals but let 3 in after a few low scoring games. Some very calamitous defending from both teams. on show.
  11. Yes definitely. Pretty much all set up to stay but for a last minute u turn.
  12. Apparently they are are going to pay all his wages and haven’t got a fee for him going so yes basically they probably just wanted him away from the club for a bit. According to the Athletic Man U pretty much were set to announce that Greenwood was staying until they saw the public backlash when the story was leaked out .
  13. Very kind of you sir! A few teams did that sort of thing I think in that era although not quite to 2nd place and then Europe/a Cup final the next season.
  14. They did well to get promotion of course and have been a very good example of how to run a club and progress in recent seasons (even our fans have been very envious!) And credit to the recent managers they've had (inc;luding one of our exs!) But Luton did get into their decline in the first place through financial mis-management (obviously no fault of the fans) .so it is a rags to riches story but maybe out of their mistakes originally. Mind you don't suppose the likes of Everton and Man City will be docked 30 points for their crimes if found guilty. which was kind of their point at the time - being made an example of by the FA and Football league. As for tonight they weren't great but battled hard and could have got a point which I what I guess Luton will hold onto - stay in games and hope to nick a goal.
  15. Fair point - guess it shows we have underachieved or performed a lot!
  16. I think he just likes to go with the tried and tested he has worked and done well with even if they aren’t playing . But also time for others to get a run out too ?
  17. England back in action today against New Zealand in the first T20. Will we see a strong side or a few fringe /new players getting their chance?
  18. Didn’t they just beat us too ?
  19. Didn't we have all this in 2007? - even starting badly and then reached the final. Of course in France. Does seem to be down to the luck of the draw. Swear Ireland play New Zealand in the last 8 all the time! Not saying that will happen this time but we do seem to perk up a bit for the tournament. 2015 apart.
  20. Well Sky reckon they are on the up but that is probably because the sport goes across the world to many places now and there will always be die hards in the traditional countries like Britain. Suppose Dutch fans for example will say it's no different to when Hamilton dominated but then he had a competitive team mate and Ferrari posed a challenge at times. As I say everyone else seems so inconsistent. One race they are are fine and on form - the next something goes wrong.
  21. Well behind him it’s certainly very close and competitive but results are rather inconsistent which is why Verstappen dominates so much . He doesn’t make any errors and nor do Red Bull
  22. Quite- if he wasn’t that good they would have got rid ASAP!
  23. They’d probably waste it after 2 goes ! Trouble is so many decisions are subjective so not clear cut but agree there have been some shockers . TBF Liverpool got the worse decision against them but agree penalty wasn’t one . It was Liverpool fan and ex player Danny Murphy who called the dive brave .
