The injury thing has been an issue for longer than just the HPC. There's probably no simple or single answer. Or one size fits all.
I remember in 2017-18, when we were riding high we had 8 or 9 players injured out for good chunks of Autumn.
2018-19 wasn't too bad, save for Fielding and the rolling injuries for Korey. Hegeler retired partially through injury too.
2020-21 from a few months in, perhaps 6 months in Idk was catastrophic.
2019-20 was inteddting and an alarm bell or 2 begun for me in that 4 new permanent or loan signings were injured cor weeks or months within 6 weeks of the start of the season.
Kalas- x weeks/months.
DaSilva- Half a season give or take.
Nagy- Injured after 1.5 gsmes, a number of weeks or months.
Afobe- by mid September he was effectively out for the whole season.
That was alarming to me. 4 new signings, out medium to long term by mid September or so.
We had a bigger squad then but still..it suggests something somewhere isn t quite right.
I always remember Dani Rodrigues. Not long after joining had a bad break in 2000 at Ashton Gate. Friends in the ground at the time said you could hear him screaming .

Taylor Gardiner Haskins mentioned the phrase “on the grass” during his interview. He’s reprogrammed the players!

Yes agreed, he deserves some credit but most credit should go to Gary Probert who was academy director until October 2021.
What? I didn’t know this.
Brian has pretty much taken all the credit for the success of the academy. Had me fooled.

Jesus Christ he’s not still dining out on the Southampton win is he?

They can shove my season ticket renewal up their ass. With several key players OOC and players like Pring and Conway potentially leaving I genuinely feel we might be in a self inflicted relegation battle next season.

How did Tinnion knife Pearson in the back exactly?
He literally speaks in parseltongue

I don't care if I get shot down, that's fine, but I am sick of the negativity towards Tinnion.
I love the guy. Pure and simple, he's a city legend and was in the team for my first four years as a fan and had a left peg I absolutely worshipped.
Anyway, I'm not here to talk about his football legacy, I think it's cruel and unfair the way he's treated on here, quite often as a figure of fun and with his intelligence and communication skills being mocked and belittled, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
He's not our enemy, he's our ambassador, he's a man who's gave most of his working career to our club, even though being a Geordie and having no previous affinity to the club.
We know he's not the best fit for the job he currently has, but he had the ambition to go for it, the same as his stint as a manager, he wasn't up to speed, but he had the ambition and drive to go for it. I respect and love that.
It's not his fault if he's not right for the job, it's up the people above him if they feel he should be replaced.
Personally, I want him in charge of the academy, that's his best fit and hopefully he will be back there sometime in the future - back within his comfort zone.
But in the meantime, he will definitely be giving everything to the club and deserves much more respect and our support.
You don't have to love Pearson and hate Brian, you can appreciate them both!
And even though I don't agree with Manning being our gaffer, I can see the reasons why he was recruited.
Tinnion dug his own grave the moment he knifed Pearson in the back.

Sorry if it’s been said elsewhere…if it was on the players and Pat the other night when we conceded from a free kick…
Presume it’s credit to Pat that we won today? Given it was his short corner routine that was calmly executed by the players?
Thank you for the 3 points Pat Mountain!
I can’t affect what we do in game, but Pat can!

No way I’m renewing my season ticket. I’ve not seen anything close to front foot attacking football and I’m certainly not prepared to watch Manning rebuild us into a bunch of robots.

Another 'look at me, look at me' post. Simply put - Bore off.
If you don't like it, don't go. Stop making yourself out that you're important. This place has become so negative and poisoned, and irrespective of the football, it's down to the attitude of the posters.
Yes today was poor. And yes we've not been great recently, but give Manning a chance. We saw far worse games under Pearson.
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands!

However swansea's continual posession bore fest really doesn't fill me with any enthusiasm for what is instore for us if Manning gets his way
I totally agree. Swansea and Manning are made for each other. No way I’m renewing my season ticket next year if that’s the way we will be playing

Swansea look terrible and play Manning ball worse than we do.

Lansdown just turned the sprinklers on trying to get the game called off

I really hope Twine isn’t on the bench for the sake of it like last time.

You find that as the crowd will be effected by Mother’s Day the die hard will still be there and with the moaners missing the atmosphere gets better
Probably works out well for Manning if we play poorly and lose then as the boos will be drowned out by the die hards happy clapping
-
Anyone else think the attendance will be fairly low compared to normal? With Mother’s Day and the midday kickoff assume a fair few might stay away. Recent performances haven’t helped either

1. Looking after the Recruitment Dept
2. Linking Academy to First Team
And I think that was a good use of his skillset and complimented the other two. Almost as perfect a set-up as you could imagine.
Under Pearson Tinnion was thriving. Now with Manning we are seeing less academy players coming through to the first team and Twine and Mebude were clearly Manning recruits. It’s probably hasn’t panned out as he expected.

FWIW I thought the U18s played well this evening and good to see we have a talented bunch coming through. Campbell Slowly really stood out as a composed and dominant defender, definitely one for the future. Joe Duncan also looks like a solid goalkeeper with accurate kicking over distance. Phillips who scored our goal has great feet, reminded me of Coutinho. Also not surprising to see why we've had Jospeh James, Morrison, Nelson and Meerholz on the first team bench this season. They all look really promising.
Yeboah was a little frustrating with his hold up play, but to be fair he set up the goal and put himself about a bit.

What a shocking game of football, whoosh ball from both teams, if that's the future it's grim.
Swindon 7 stood out.
Really disappointed leaving the stadium that was absolute dross
Thats a bit harsh. It was much more exciting than watching than the first team passing it sideways and backwards for 20 minutes.

Nelson looks super quick down the wing for us.

Steve has invested a lot of time and money in the club and deserves a bit more respect to be honest. Yes I think the time has come for change and the football decisions in general are baffling, certainly this crazy structure with Tinnion involved but we wouldn’t have the facilities now enjoyed without Steve. However he should have seen sense with Nige IMO and kept him at the club, things were developing in right direction, the Manning appointment is no better than Holden.
I’m sorry, but I disagree with the notion that we should be grateful to the Lansdowns. Most championship and league one clubs have shiny new stadiums nowadays. And what have we really achieved on the pitch? We’ve gone absolutely nowhere in the last 50 years, but clubs like Swindon, Barnsley, Oldham and Luton have all reached the premier league.

Campbell-Slowey is another one of our young defenders to look out for. I thought he looked one hell of a player against Swindon in the U18 quarter final.
