Interesting you pick out those two. Like everyone sitting around me, i think the players have looked far more 'on-it' and 'intelligent' since Liam came in. However, these two are important exceptions; i think Vyner was brilliant under Pearson and Skyes was at his most dangerous then rather than since October. In Zak's defense one of Liam's great tactics last night was to play the long ball against a suspect defence and several paid off- two didnt but that's the nature of a higher risk, longer pass. As you say, no strong criticism last night - especially the manager's subs! 3 goals and an assist in short time
  2. 100% right. It is early goals that deflate struggling teams so hopefully Liam will again set up to press high, force mistakes and then take advantage.
  3. Yes, love the irony. So many on here used him as Pearson's scapegoat and called him league 1. I will be delighted for him if we got a big fee as i dont see many other answers for balancing the books without selling one or two. If we dont need to sell, then he will be the pillar of our push for top half/top 6 next season; love it also that he is local. He is well protected by the CB pairing Pearson nurtured and this should always be noted so i believe keeping those two here and fit is a major consideration too
  4. Mine too with T.C as YPOS. I thought while Pearson was in charge Zak would get my vote as he was, IMO, the most improved player in the early months of the season; = credit Pearson I dont think Zak has improved under Liam though still rate him very highly. Dickie would be my 2nd choice after Max - anyone know when the recent voting will be counted and announced?
  5. Join the other forums if you want to enjoy our successes. What odds on another 5-0 on Saturday? Huddersfield havent lost as often this season as Blackburn but early goals will destroy their confidence so who knows?
  6. And for many that is much more important than Going Up - long debate worth another thread. Bet Blackburn, Brum, Stoke, Plymouth and dozens of other teams around the country would love that T shirt
  7. GC, i almost forgot that one in the haze of relief about last night's performance but you are right. It is always an enjoyable night when you see our keeper so well protected - only Smodics had a sniff ..and the rest is history; fantastic watch
  8. Max has improved significantly since the autumn and that co-incided with other changes! If a big bid came in for him of course the owner has to consider it and then its the same question as every summer; does SL think we have the right squad and coach to have a go for top six? The next question then is can the books be balanced to avoid the financial penalties which now determine where the club ends up just as much as results on the pitch. I like Max, hope stays but have to be realistic that, local lad or not, all players want a Premier League income and opportunity to progress. Liam has had to do without Scott and Semenyo this season with little money to spend on quality replacements. What we'll see in August depends on how the owner sees our prospects as above.
  9. Max was sadly a scapegoat to many forum writers for much of this season. I give the credit for his improvement to Liam but overall our defensive 'core' has been solid with Max, Zak & RD: Liam cant take credit for this but Pearson certainly should; Whilst we have been unlucky to see so little of Naismith and Atko, our medical team have done a good job in keeping our 'core three' fit all season until now. On another thread, re Max, i certainly think clubs will be in for him and SL will take a big fee if one comes in. Never mind our opinions but the stats look good and Prem teams like a calm keeper
  10. Excellent ref, kept up with play and let's hope for more of the same on Saturday.
  11. And me but Williams a close 2nd
  12. Couldnt get to the Gate so Robins TV did the trick. Leroy loves the players and club, particularly Liam. What a great series of opinions about our coach- might be worth that seagul from Weston taking a listen!! I bet a lot of other recent moaners wont be on here tonight. With a transfer window to come, with Zak our oldest player starting at 26 and with inspired subs like Liam has made tonight i reckon all our season ticket holders will be delighted and encouraging their mates too join up as well for August; it isnt long now. Up the City!
  13. We have had a tough 2024 against sides who are not in or aspiring to be in the top flight of English football. Against the best we have been coached and set up really well. After yesterdays superb performance where TC ran the channels so well and deserved a penalty post match debate threw up an interesting one i'd like you views on. We know Tinman loves both these players he has seen grow from kids to potential top class strikers. He will doubtless have a say in who we keep, sell etc but if you could only keep one of our own who would it be. I love TC and his late goals at Rotherham after the worst 45 mins football i have ever attended, but yesterday he didnt take any of his chances. Sam is faster, gave us a magic moment at Swansea in the cup last season and has really taken the chance Tinman gave him I suspect Liam has already decided who he wants to come into the club and probably who he has to let go from our bunch of forwards. Which of these two would you keep if they were equally fit and raring to go next season?
  14. I posted last week what an excellent pre-match interview Matty James gave. Yesterday showed he is right to praise Liam so highly for all the detailed work on the opposition; we did one over on Leicester. How many times in the last few seasons have we come away from AG and said the opposition had 'done a job on us' by working out our limited tactics? Plenty times. I reckon the coaching team did a great job in setting up to beat Leicester and Vardy's chances apart (he must be mates with Zak!) we were well worth the win. So many of us walked back to the Robins buzzing - what a great feeling So the post asks a hyp0thetical question. If Liam has to choose between Matty or Williams to retain who would you choose? Assume fitness and wages are identical
  15. I think we all deserve to have a little fun; perhaps at the negative **** who seem to think the only point of this forum is criticize my/our club we support. We could start a new threat naming & shaming those who find think it's hilarious to be smug & highly critical of our management and all good things BCFC Lets start naming Silvio, BCFC 31, Cloudy, Uno, Ivan - all these people who will NOT read this post because it will make them chew so much humble pie they will hate waking up tomorrow to realize what total chumps they've made themselves look, that we did beat a Prem club with a bench today worth £95m, that Liam has yet again shown the football world he is smart and can get an average team to beat the best. I loved today even more knowing those we can name will have a horrible day; lets hope they also have a horrible day on Monday when they'll be unable to roll out their pre-written and predictable complaints about all those guys who do so much to help BCFC. I think a few of them will be man enough to own up and say we were again a good team today, all playing for the shirt, in front of a sell-out crowd at our great stadium and where Bristol Sport did absolutely nothing wrong. Oh, and by the way anyone who enjoyed today and posts positively may be told by the neggies that they work for B.Sport - hilarious
  16. Dave, as always, useful views from you and others; shame i need to mention the 'no thanks' to Stokes acting her age (7) for her input. I really think Matty gave a clear, football-like, honest answer to all the many Qs in those 3 interviews. I prefer his style to Liam's and clearly understanding they all have roles to play when they 'go social' think it shows some constructive and positive insight to behind the scenes. Wish some of our fans could do the same as you read the sickening nonsense ahead of tomorrow - some people actually hoping to sing negatively - WTF, I hope we can sing coz we're winning!
  17. Watching his 3 pre-match interviews tonight makes it clear he wants to; play and coach for years to come, he really respects Liam as much as many others have come out and said, he finds numerous positives in recent months, acknowledge the detailed understanding that now exists about opponents, beat Leicester for the club and for us fans. I think this is one of the better pre-match briefings we've seen in the last few years - do you agree?
  18. Who are you? Another full house and you choose now to be critical of the business. Would you know how to empty a piggy bank? Are you going tomorrow, why not share your views of a great stadium, our team competing with a Premier League (in waiting) club, but i suppose you'll wait until a blade of grass is out of place and blame Bristol Sport? I'm sure you could be constructive and send in your suggestions of how to sell tickets, make money/reduce losses and keep 25000 fans happy, all at the same time Really?
  19. Have you experienced the Play Offs? I wonder what the stats on on P.O success from League 1; I doubt it is favourable for the team finishing in 3rd place; as Fevs says, often a team on a good run into the final few games to sneak 5th or 6th place
  20. indeed i wanted Pi a piano Pisano at the back with Hunter and missed him off. Dont think there are two Scots unless you are including subs and if you are then Cormack drops off as a late withdrawal being replaced by Hodor. How many subs are you putting on the bench, only 5?
  21. Looks like Pompey, Derby and then the usual lottery of P.Os. Just been reading a Reading paper that confirms there are only four teams with bigger away support than them (Royals) this season. Not sure who these are but almost certainly the current top 3 plus one. I couldnt bear to go on to a Gas site to see if their away support is still in the tens of thousands every week but it will be good to have Pompey and Derby at AG again and also as good away trips for us Royals away support averages 1200 this season; not bad for a crisis club in a vicious downward spiral.
  22. We seem to be getting so deep into detail that i can see two distinctly opposing viewpoints; Let market forces play as per Slarti's suggestion and just accept that money (usually 'bad' like Abramovich or foreign) will buy success and stimulate corruption or try to make lawyers even richer by throwing the book at any club 'charged' with breaches. I agree with ex Atyeo that K.Maguire seems the most easy to follow in this mess but it really begs the question of whether we, as City fans, want to join that debacle - or not - by ever getting promoted. If some fans think SL should throw more of his own money at our Championship team, they will never be happy with the £ms, £10ms, £100ms that would be expected to compete well in the EPL
  23. Nothing confirmed yet but just saw this. It may be quiet at BS3 until we stuff Leicester who dont now want to get to the Premier league as they'll face points deductions, but this is of relevance to anyone on here who still wants SL to punt more of HIS millions into getting us promoted (some year). The entire PL has been so discredited i cant believe it will exist in a few years time. Begs an older question of what we do want financially from our owners. Main point is watch this space re Etihad City as it'll ripple down the leagues; The Commission added: “Where a PSR breach is ‘minor’, then it will be for other Commissions to determine if any points deduction is necessary, appropriate or proportionate. “But if the breach is properly described as ‘major’ then it may be the case that even a very severe sanction such as expulsion is more appropriate.”
  24. 3-4-3 Moller Brennan, Kalas, 'Bites yer legs' Gow Tommy D, Testimatanu, Jacki Weimann Geert Meyer Subs; Basso, Cormack, Sno, Semenyo, Feed The Goat,
  25. I love the clip from Brazil and cant imagine Liam nor other coaches in England playing 7 or 8 players down one side. It does seem truly weird but what a great post to bring something so different tot he forum. Excellent
