  1. I like to think my teammates knew what to do in those circumstances without me telling them. For betting purposes a header will be classed as a shot on target
  2. Yes Taine Anderson and he did indeed have a good game.
  3. Be great to have Rob back in the team, especially if the plan is to stick with three at the back as he’ll be the natural left sided defender. Love to see both big Robs attacking Twines dead ball kicks
  4. I don’t know much about him but he seems a big lad with pace and good feet
  5. Yes, it was wet and windy up there tonight. many times a forward ball would actually end up behind the player who’d originally put it forwards.
  6. Is it an official law from the FA though as there are plenty of examples where that process hasn’t been adhered to. Or is it just the advice of clubs trying to avoid issues between players and ball persons of which there have also been examples. i just can’t believe that if a player is thrown a ball by a ball person and the player takes the throw that the referee will stop the match and have the throw in retaken.
  7. Hate to be pessimistic but I can’t see a game there that we will pick up 3 points. Maybe Middlesbrough with their injuries but even then it would be very difficult. Hopefuly I’ll be proved wrong
  8. Oh don’t get me wrong I wasn’t claiming he was. But I don’t know if he’s an out and out wide man either.
  9. Bell played on the left so he could come in on his right foot to shoot. Such a shame that there are so few professional footballers who are capable of quality with both feet.
  10. I’m afraid I don’t see any formation that makes me think Mehmeti should be in it. For a wide man he’s not particularly quick, provides little quality and although he does try to get back defensively he is often trying to tackle from the wrong side of the man and is easily brushed off.
  11. So doesn’t really speed the game up and reducing time wasting which was why I thought the multi ball system was introduced
  12. It is after all the responsibility of the match officials to ensure throw ins are taken from the appropriate spot
  13. The ball persons really make little effort retrieving the ball or passing the ball to the thrower. Maybe it’s just ours who are really bad but until they can achieve their primary role I wouldn’t be handing out responsibility for enforcing the laws of the game to them
  14. I forgot to put it in my earlier post on this subject but as I watched yesterday I thought that if we intend to retain possession as a team patiently probing until the opposition fail to cover a run or switch off to allow us to make a more incisive pass then surely a quick throw in or two would be perfect for catching teams out. not back in shape or failing to cover the run if an attacking player. Throw ins may seem unimportant to some but they are so easy to do well and can play a major part in a match.
  15. This isn’t a recent issue, it was an issue last season and still is this season. We seem totally static at throw ins, eventually a player will make a run towards the thrower who then gives it to the advancing player usually at hip height and the volleyed pass back to the thrower goes out of play or the thrower is immediately closed down by the opponent who has come with the runner. we generally only retain possession at a throw in when we go back to a defender. We don’t appear to have anybody apart from Cornick who can deliver a longer throw but we never try to gain ground working the line with a throw forwards down the line.
  16. On the subject of Downsy was it just me who heard him call Jamie Knight-Lebel, Jason Knight-Lebel yesterday ? can’t even get our own players names right
  17. Alf Garnett supported West Ham but the actor Warren Mitchell was actually a Tottenham fan
  18. If it’s the guy I’m thinking of then “get into em” is another one of his favourites and he gets very vocal about closing down. Am I thinking of the same guy you are talking about ?
  19. Are you sure it’s not block 30 but right on the steps next to 31. i think I know who you mean
  20. Got to say I do find the constant bashing of George Tanner a bit boring. I watched him very closely against Millwall because of the constant criticism he receives regarding passing backwards all the time. He often has nobody providing real width ahead of him as it appears we asking the wide player on the right side to tuck in field, this doesn’t appear to happen so much on the left side. It results in Tanner having the option to play forwards onto a congested middle of the park or come backwards to recycle the ball. It certainly appears that the instruction is to retain possession and reduce the number of passes with a higher risk of failure. I’m not saying McCrorie won’t be a better right back for us but I think George Tanner has always given 100% and deserves more respect.
  21. The melee at the end was the most threatening we were to Millwall all afternoon
  22. I’ve been saying this all season ! Maybe we’re just old fashioned
