  1. Clear dive. Sadly don't expect the punishment will be anything much though, so will be still worth doing. Punishment needs to be severe enough to stamp this out - just plain cheating. Personally dont think VAR is the answer - even more delays in a game that is at it's best when it's allowed to flow.
  2. ... kept a surprising number of clean sheets.
  3. Is it your contention that with all the intense practice required you could have been as good as Messi?
  4. Excellent report, although I thought the Peter Borough thing was at our place not theirs. Well done for not mentioning Tomlin....
  5. Really excellent write up by Jerseybean. Hava-esque. Thanks..
  6. Maybe it's a Covid thing. Knowing who was sitting next to who for 2 hours just in case someone turned out to be affected might be the reason. Who knows?
  7. Obesity in the US seems to be getting worse. I saw a survey recently and apparently 2 out of 3 Americans have now become 4 out of 5 Americans.
  8. Not that I've been to see the Bears but don't they sell 2 pint glasses?
  9. Anyone mentioning Jehovah will be put to the death. Oh b*gger!
  10. Have you tried Rovers' Club Shop? They've got some very funny looking costumes in there.
  11. Getting rid of betting and alcohol would be a good thing IMO but then I would like to see all advertising taken off shirts and a return to those simpler days when footballers weren't commercial billboards. Of course there will be many arguing the loss of income. Well here's an idea - how about football starts behaving responsibly and gets back to being an affordabl game for all. Over-commercialisation of football has been a disease for years and it needs be stopped before it kills the game
  12. ... now doing the same job for poor old Ipswich. Mind you, it will be Cook that takes the fall.
  13. Absolutely nail on the head. County Cricket has been under threat for sometime and now it seems that even Test Cricket is taking a back seat to the IPL. Shameful treatment of fans and very short sighted. All very well making loadsamoney now, but where will the cricketers of the future come from?
  14. Quite often a company makes a contribution to a pension scheme alongside that made by the employee. Often it can be that when opting out that the company doesn't make an equivalent contribution to the opted out fund. As a result the value of your opted out fund can be significantly lower than what would have happened had you stuck with the company scheme. Well worth the question when you talk to HR...
  15. Just don't get the fascination with MacGregor on this forum. Poor journalist on a a terrible 'newspaper'. Two threads on the first page dedicated to him - he must be loving the attention and determined to get more at Pearson's expense. He really is the Bristol Rovers of sports reporters.
  16. Ha! Funny... Stopped raining before 13:00 but play didn't get going until 15:30. Very poor effort in getting water off the ground - both badly organised and under-equipped. At one point there was a guy using what looked a towel to mop up the wicket. Match reduced to 20 overs a side eventually finishing at 18:30 with plenty of daylight lift. More cricket could easily have been provided to the full house than was. Disappointing. Somerset thoroughly deserved their win and were better than Yorkshire in all aspects - batting, bowling and especially fielding. Yorkshire incredibly sloppy in the field - 5 chances put down and although a couple were very difficult the rest should have been held. James Hildreth held everything together once he got in. Everytime I see him can't I can't help feeling a bit sorry for him - he should have had a fair few England caps and it's an injustice that he hasn't.
  17. Going to Taunton tomorrow for the match vs Yorkshire. Any ideas about reasonable places to park? Thanks...
  18. Too difficult to have an opinion either way based on his time here. Certainy done well at Peterborough this year though. Not that doing well at Peterborough means anything that much - they are THE Championship/League 1 yo-yo club. They've had their usual good time in League 1 and on past evidence it would surprise none of us if they struggled next year, Sammie included. It's what they do.
  19. Shepherd Neame - now you're talking. Lucky enough to go round the brewery a while ago and then on to Whitstable for fantastic seafood. Particularly liked their Spitfire related advertising. All banned by the Advertising Standards folk for some odd reason, but still produced as souvenirs by the brewery. Those of a nervous (or German) disposition look away now:
  20. You must be very jealous about what's happening in BS3 these days. All wonderful here. Absolutely ****ing peachy. Not a cloud in the bleedin' sky.
  21. No doubt they're hoping that the ESL goes ahead with (now) 4 English clubs kicked out of the Prem and, hey presto, Rovers move up 4 places and avoid relegation.
  22. I think you'll find that they're all zeroes...
  23. Maybe he's worked out that the club is a basket case and he's being a pain to try getting compromised out. Mutual agreement, personal reasons etc. - plenty of clubs up north where he could work. Easy to do...
