  1. Spot on, I think. The article, whilst it is well written, doesn't actually break any news. It is a long rebuttal of the wild speculation that appeared on various social media platforms. If anybody bought some or all of the speculation then fair enough this article was news. Not everybody did though - sometimes we just don't know.
  2. Not that simple. If he's no longer capable for doing the job you can. If he's not employed but on a contract it would depend on tbe terms of the contract. Lots of opinions on here, but unless someone has detailed knowledge of his terms and conditions it's all pointless speculation.
  3. I noticed that as well and was surprised to say the least, but it would seem that he did.

No, think Gould just doesn't know enough to give a definite answer at this stage. Difficult position for the club. A fit Pearson coming back would be good, but after two bouts of Covd and Long Covid there are no guarantees. Maybe some interim help would be a good idea.
  5. Not sure that training ground spending counts towards FFP. Think our problem is more about what has happened over the last 3 years, made worse by Covid.
  6. The appointment of Nigel Pearson looked to me like the club was at last starting to address some fundamental issues. I was optimistic. Having closely watched events on and off the pitch this season I can see that the club is in a very bad way and it's due to years of mismanagement from the very top. Sadly, I can see neither the ability nor any real ambition to change. The Lansdowns selling up doesn't seem likely or even possible - the Bristol Sport organisation far too complicated to attract someone just interested in football. The Lansdowns staying, with their model of selling anybody decent to keep solvent, doesn't look likely to bring any hope of a better future either. Maybe I'm just told old know but just don't see a way to better prospects - and a football club like ours is in real trouble when hope has disappeared. Perhaps it's time for me to find something else to do with my Saturdays.
  7. One Christmas Steve asked young Jon what he would like. 'A cowboy outfit, father' was the young lad's reply. The rest is history...
  8. Exactly. Long ban for possession I believe, and rightly so
  9. Indeed, and if he wanted to force a sale on the rest he could. City are now part of Bristol Sport and the whole thing seems completely unsaleable. The Lansdowns will be with us for as long as they want. No other opinion matters. Everybody should just get used to it.

Win % over 40, multiple promotions. No arguing with his record. Always quite liked the pantomime villain act. I know of a couple that live near him - very good guy by all accounts.
  11. Sorry to ask (and I know I know it's not relevant to the thread, so apologies) but do chickens detest eggs?
  12. Understandable. No 2 is traditionally the number for a RB. Think we're all talking about their LWB.
  13. Thought that our full backs were very narrow today and gave their number 2 far too much time and space - decent player but we made him look better.
  14. That's grass coloured. Sneaky...
  15. ... and there are now so many subs that there's always a goalkeeper on the bench. Gone are the days when an outfield player had to take the gloves. Think I remember Tinman as a decent substitute keeper.
  16. Quite right too - no subs for me. Bert Trautmann even played on in a Cup Final with a broken neck. Don't remember players having ham strings or metatarsals then either.
  17. I find it difficult to believe that no allowance is being made within FFP rules for the consequences of Covd and in particular the shortfall in normal income due to Covid. Meanwhile, parachute payments continue - which always were unfair but now made even more so by Covd losses.
  18. Especially when you consider that quite a lot of that would be us trying to take throw-ins.
  19. Ok, I'll try. The one positive I can take is the defence. Despite Bournemouth having all that possession we only conceded two. Not only that but Bentley didn't have many tough saves to make. Just about all of the rest often was awful, but Kalas and Baker in particular put in a shift.
  20. Yes, Bournemouth were much better, but still they only managed 2 goals from all that possession and conceded 3 or 4 very presentable chances. What I find depressing is the thought that we are years away from getting to even their level (and if we keep losing our best players we never will).
  21. He's had an ok-ish career but Hull was his high point. He not only got them into the Prem, he kept them there for their first season. Would think he still has a good reputation at Hull, gave them a load of good memories even if didn't end well. We have Alan Dicks, who many supporters think well of - and that didn't end well either. Maybe a few parallels there?
  22. Simple - think a straight red for simulation should be standard. I know that a yellow is the current practice, but it's not working as a punishment is it?
  23. The FA appear to think so as they've brought a charge. If he's found guilty at the hearing then a 3 match ban, the equivalent of a straight red, seems a reasonable punishment. We shall have to wait and see. Mind you, the test will come when it's a player from a big club, supported by high priced lawyers.
