I wonder if this is down to Cardiff’s insurers making them check everything is present and correct before authorising the claim.

Everyone is rushing to blame the club's but Cardiff probably have insurance.....any insurer will need a death certificate before payment ( as yet no body. no certificate) so they're waiting but equally the transfer went through ( to the satisfaction of football authorities) so if the contract stated a % was due up front then Cardiff should pay and await the insurance payment to cover it.

Obviously very sad where a fatality is concerned but Cardiff seem to be the one's who should bite the bullet and honour the deal.....IMO

You are correct. This happens time and time again unfortunately.

The big problem I have with this is that - and please correct me if I'm wrong - The Memorial Ground, is in fact that. A memorial ground to those rugby players that lost their lives serving our country. And therefore should be kept as such as a 'memorial' to those that fell. If not for rugby purposes specifically but sport generally.

Considering that the gasholes robbed the ground from Bristol Rugby I would assume that if there were any morals left at all, that any sale of the land/ground would be like for like to retain and perpetuate the principals of its creation.

Or maybe that's just too old fashioned thinking and money is the new power.

This 100%, however the Gas have spun this saying it's "The Gates" which are the memorial and they'll take them to any new stadium....If they would take the trouble to read the inscription it does say.......This GROUND is a memorial to those Bristol Rugby players who gave their lives in the Great War ( and was later u updated to inc WW2.

Flogging off and desecrating a War Memorial........it doesn't get any lower.

I've just read the transcript of Wally's interview with GT.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Leaving aside the bovine excrement about legal issues preventing any discussion about options for a new ground or rebuild of the mem, the stuff about legal issues preventing discussion of the training ground is bizarre.

What could possibly be preventing any discussion about the colony?

Dwayne Sports own the land so no issue there. They have already held a consultation with relevant stakeholders and from what I've read the outcome was generally favourable, so no issue there. Any planning application goes immediately into the public domain. They have appointed another company to ensure all the paperwork gets done, nothing top secret there. Finally, everyone knows what makes up your average training ground. A few pitches, all weather and grass, somewhere to get changed, somewhere to park, somewhere for the physio to work and somewhere for the groundsman to keep his tools. There is absolutely nothing that I can see that is top secret about any of that.

The only thing needed to get it all done is a bit of cash. Aaaahhh could that be the problem?

How the sags can suck up the shite they were fed in that interview and see anything positive in it is beyond me.

My favourite bit was where Wally insisted that "Daryll has a competitive budget" and then 30 seconds later admitted he didn't know what the budgets were for any other  L1 clubs!!

  4. No plans

    No money

    No redevelopment plans for Men

No news of any alternative sites

    No training ground progress

No commitment from Al Quadi family

    No hope

The training ground will be ditched with the excuse that there's planning & technical issues - blaming the council - and that if they can't build a "world class" training facility they'll keep looking...Gasheads deserve nothing less. Remember they blamed UWE but the reason was they wanted ownership of the ground so they could -as owners -borrow against it as they have with the Men. As I understand they've put no money in , only what they've borrowed against the Men.

The talk of alternative sites for a stadium is Bullshit , there is no site in Bristol and if there was the council won't allow it. How many times have they tried? Stoke Gifford. Avonmouth. Severside. UWE. Redeveloped Mem. Not actually having any money to pay for a ground doesn't help mind!

Likely scenario. They rent pitches at UWE for training., Wael announces plans for new stadium in 2021 ( no location or details due to legal constraints) they " temporarily" move to the new FGR stadium At junction 13 M5 Stroud.....as tenants.Wael sells mem for housing promising "every penny" will go to "new stadium" ......Wael and family trouser the cash and buggerr off back to Jordan.

  5. And Ellis Harrison has scored the first goal for Ipswich,  that's cheered them up no end.

I saw after they'd thrashed PSV Dopey was interviewed:

Interviewer: "Is there any news on bringing in a striker?"

Daryl " Yeah, well obviously we've got a list of targets but I'm waiting for the board to tell me what the budget is - how much I can spend"

Spoiler Alert Daryll ........It's a round number ..very round!

On first viewing I just thought it was fancy dress and that was a wig - it is a wig isn't it?

It's not.  I've seen that punky haired bloke in Wotton-under-Edge quite a few times - I always give him a wide berth (some diseases aren't treatable!) and from his appearance (he always looks like that although he does look to have scrubbed up a bit for his "holiday")  I had always assumed he was some unfortunate delusional  individual taking time out from his usual place of occupancy...........where similar sad individuals are forced to spend their (satur) days in bleak run down conditions with third world facilities - shunned by the outside world and society with no prospect of ever moving somewhere better or escaping from their miserable plight.

Looks like I was spot on the money there then !!

I see Henbury plum is at it again.

Some joker posted on facebook that they would sell their City v Man Utd ticket for £1,000,000 (that's ONE MILLION POUNDS) and numbnuts started a thread criticising City fans saying they would never do that as they're 'faithful and true' (unless they're playing sh1t when they don't bother). He fell for a blatant wind up! Thick prat.

Is the guy ill or just very, very stupid to be that gullible? I understand delusion but this is off the scale IMHO. Pillock!

It's all sorted now, they're going to knock up a stadium themselves...

What could happen is for the club to appeal to gasheads in the trade to perform the install..I'm in the commercial roofing game and I would be happy to install any of it for a standard daywork rate and go the extra mile etc and I'm sure there's brickies and chippies etc that would do the same along with gas network!!!

Changing the topic slightly but I see that Poplar Insulation is sponsoring one of their stands, bit of a strange one as the owners are massive City fans, I'll have to ask them what their game is when I see them next!

They are sponsoring their South Stand,..to be called the Poplar Insulation South Stand........The abbreviation to be in large letters on the roof....................it's not only Wally that's taking the piss!

  10. Here in rural Gloucestershire we get 0.7mb !,

but of course we can get to the Gate.

    Good luck listening tomorrow.

I remember , must be over 13 years ago, I was in the Bristol Oncology Hospital receiving chemotherapy and desperate to listen to City v Swindon, no RB commentary then as City were home so tried Wiltshire Sound on my walkman radio but could only get a signal on a window sill high up my room.....climbed up and lay on the sill and bingo got the game loud and clear ....just then a nurse came in and pressed the alarm thinking I was trying to throw myself out of the window ! The things we do......

  11. He admitted he was hurt by people being critical of him...and his family, part of the no show at

the press conference was as he didn't want to put them up to be slaughtered by the press.

He also defended the comments re the boards inexperience and got quite heated reiterating

what he saw as the boards experience.

I read that as the comments about his son's lack of experience and competence has really hurt.

After all it would have been JL normally at the PC, as Dawe never speaks and SL is not a board member, plus

the(lack of)  experience remarks can only refer to JL.

Also said Bristol City is a successful football club.

No Steve Norwich, Swansea, Southampton (all recently in L1) are successful.

    We are not successful !

  12. Easy to blame the manager, look at the tool's he's got to work with,I know as a manager you have a responsibility to get the best out of your staff, but hes got a crock of shit to work with, come jan they will be big changes hopefully with mcinnes at the helm.

    No, i'm not having that

He's had time , money, the opportunity to reshape the squad in the summer due to the number of OOC players who were not retained

and he's had a free hand to completely overhaul the backroom bringing in new coaches at all levels

    And today

Heaton, Foster, Bates, McManus, Danns, Davies, Baldock were all his signings along with Anderson and Pearson on the bench together with Morris who didn't feature

  13. FGR are the nearest club to my house - about 8 miles away - I like to see them doing well.

Not too sure about Dale Vince tho' - he seems to have bought the club to showcase his Green projects and the club

are being used as a vehicle and publicity for his company.

If you read his mission statement:

FGR is an important part of the local community in Stroud (where we’re based) and a significant employer. It’s a football club with serious heritage too, being over 100 years old.

It needed saving, it was local to us, and we were able – those were the first three ingredients. The compelling final ingredient was the opportunity to use football as a ‘new channel’ for our message, for our work – which is about sustainability and bringing it to all walks of life. It’s about greening up Britain.

At FGR we have the opportunity to create a truly sustainable football club, which would be a world first. Somewhere we can demonstrate all of our thinking and technology, and through that engage with a new, large and passionate audience. A global audience ultimately. It’s the chance to introduce some Eco into the world of sport, and not just football – as we’ve quickly discovered through our link with Gary Neville and Sustainability in Sport.

He has though put money into the budget and they have a young team with a lot of strength in depth (they bought 4 strikers in the summer to compliment the 2 they already had) and I expect them to do well this year, play offs a realistic target.

One initiative they have introduced - if you have a Season Ticket at any Football League club you can watch any home games at half price on production of your ST, that is £8. you can also bring a friend (doesn't have to hold any ST) for £8 as well.

So 2 for £16 providing one of you is a City season ticket holder(or Gashead! Cheltenham, swindon ST etc)

I've only ever been to the New Lawn to watch BCFC in the pre season friendlies and thought I might go to a FGR game when City are away but it seems all their home games are on the the same day as City are home so shan't be doing that! The offer must be pitched for Gasheads..
