  1. Gutted to be missing game due to birth of new boy. After Pearson’s comments midweek (players not wanting to be here will be sold) and the realisation we don’t create/score enough at home, I think today he will go more attacking and we may see Semenyo & COD in actual wide positions hopefully making for a good game to watch.

1-1 with city equalising late first half (Weimann) and then a good solid second half which brings no more goals but enthusiasm.

  2. The past 2 games COD has played he’s been excellent first half and created some of our best plays/chances. I agree with people when they say he’s far too inconsistent, but I do think he’s one of the few people in our squad with the pace & ability to knock a ball past a player and put a good ball in. IF nige wants to crack on with 433 (I’m guessing once he can have James, Williams and Massengo as a midfield 3) then surely re-training COD to play left side of front 3 would be very useful in the coming months.

  3. Started well but sounded very anxious not to give too much away near the end, and like most politicians didn’t give an honest straight answer on some important questions. Thought it was quite obvious we were lacking in forward players/striking options yet wouldn’t say about positions, and then said the answer to our problems layed in our u23s…… Worrying

  4. As others have said, why call press conference to announce he’s left (for whatever reason) unless there’s someone coming in? A simple club statement would have been enough. We didn’t do press conference for Holden or LJ leaving……

  5. That was seriously bad. We shouldn’t have lost being 1-0 up and having 1 more man. BUT despite the actual result, even with 10men for 90min cov were much better team - well drilled and passed around the park brilliantly. We looked like a team of 11 strangers, I had no idea of the game plan (neither did players from looks of it) and we couldn’t even do the simple things right. Pearson has been here year now and has PPG of 0.85 - any other manager would be sacked! I understand the issues with squad/ffp but there are decent enough players there to be getting some performances, but he’s not getting that and ultimately it’s done to manager. Players seem absolutely devoid of confidence - so we have any sports psychologists??

Id have no issue if he’s sacked, but I know he won’t be.

  6. I’m no expert on finances but it was my impression that FFP rules regarding budget and amounts allowed to be spent aren’t adjusted mid-season as they are based on end of year financial reports.
Therefore if we didn’t have much money to spend in the summer there won’t be much or indeed any in the winter window either.
Unless a saleable asset is sold on (ie HNM or Kalas) then we’d probably be looking at loans.

What do we need? Pace and energy up top, mainly competition for an aging Martin who’s playing a thankless role with no1 to help

I thought until he picked up an injury v Millwall, Jay was starting to find form again.

OP - just thought I’d share the game by game / position by position breakdown.  For info, Cam has started 3 games at LB for City, 1 at LWB, 6 at LM/W.  Baker played some at LB when Cam was LM/W.

From a physical perspective I definitely see the advantages of Pring.  As for Saturday, I’d go Baker LB, Pring LM/W…..but I’d pick Pring over Dasilva at this point.

Dave - do you think Baker at left back is a good idea? Square pegs in Circular holes and all that……

  8. 1) Drop 352 and persevere with 433/4231 (this is dependant on whether Williams, Massengo and James are all fit - if so then 433)

    2) Do not start with a target man (Martin) and encourage team to keep ball on floor where possible.

    3) Continually coach and teach players to be happy receiving ball in tight spaces, and work on player movement so everyone always has an option to pass to, rather than panic passes into the corner flags.

    4) Adopt a high pressing, high intensity game which suits our fit squad (so Pearson tells us)

    5) DO NOT ALLOW KALAS LONG THROWS

  9. I said to someone the other day that Pring had really impressed me this season, he had one bad game when he was moved back to left back (can’t rem who against) and hasn’t really featured since. One of the few players that can actually take a player on and put in a good cross, plus works really hard down left hand side and offers good protection to left back.

I think having Pring infront on JD would really helps JD game as he’s obviously a talent but like most his form has been off for couple seasons.

  10. We all know that we are short of good strikers, I think both Martin and Wells are OK but both either played out of position or we play a style that dosnt suit them.

But we do seems to have a squad containing some very young, pacey, creative players - so why not try building a team around them. Like at Man City, you don’t necessarily need to play strikers to score goals. I’d love us to play a high pressing, fast intensity game filled with young players who give their all instead of players such as Martin and Wells who won’t be here next year.

For me super nige has to get a win on sat. another defeat and for me changes will be needed. only my opinion. the usual ones who dont have an opinion will be giving me stick for this post. It will be 18 games which is not good enough. believe it or not i want him to be good for city but so far it is not good enough. Or have i missed something

Ok I personally don’t agree, but I can understand why some fans have this view. If you look at his record alone you could argue it’s not very good, and in a business based industry that’s what a manager is based on.

But we all know there’s a bigger picture all round to look at, and Pearson has come in as a long term project to steady the ship, and  gradually improve the playing/non playing staff whilst adhering to strict FFP rules post covid

It’s not on Sky Bet, but I did try looking up goal scores after 90min

Forest have better players than us on the grass.

I’ve seen so much hyperbole on OTIB in my time lurking in here.

‘We have a top 6 squad on paper’ is the classic.

We don’t. We made a massive charitable  donation to Chelsea, for three players who don’t perform at the levels they’re capable of.

This is true for a lot of the squad.

Football isn’t played on paper, it’s played on grass.

I think that’s a little unfair on JD who is a quality left back at this level. Granted every player has bad games but in terms of ability he’s right up there for me.
