That half was all about Tanner and his big double tackle to get crowd going
well done to Scott for being positive on the ball too and his goal.

Let’s go for it……. (If HNM/Atkinson avail)
Bentley
Tanner. Kalas. Atkinson JD
James. Massengo
COD. Scott. Pring
Weimann
High press, lots of pace/energy up top with overlapping full backs. Martin needs a rest and Wells still dosnt convince me.

Regarding King, in terms of playing style he’s no Williams or Massengo, but he’s quite clever positionally. Watch him carefully and he does win a lot of second/loose balls and does always try to make himself available for simple passes. Plus he has contributed with a few goals/assists early in the season. He’s a good option who came as a free and on low wages, and is probably a good model pro to have around the club, but he won’t stay beyond this year

The poor pass completion was because B’mouth played a very high line and had everyone except Kelly and Cahill in our half, so players rushed passes and lost ball more times than normal.
The game was another mini wake up call for anyone thinking we could achieve anything more than mid table this year, but I’m happy with that as always knew it was a year of consolidation.-

Anyone able to give some insight into questions/answers last night?

Other than a good 20min cameo against Cardiff can someone explain why so many people have Semenyo in their team?

Incidentally I’m normally in the concourse at HT. What the **** is this hard house techno all the way through the break? Did Downsie just find some uppers in the medical room??
Think you’ll find it’s drum n bass

I’m glad the lineup looks attacking and so long as there’s a good performance il be reasonably content, but I don’t expect any points today. Getting anything today will depend on getting subs right
Hopefully il be proved wrong……. -
Time to reflect and move on, 1 point closer to 50 and 3 games unbeaten - each run starts from somewhere…..
Going forward hopefully Nigel has learnt 4 things
1) Baker is not a left back, and Vyner could/should be replaced by Simpson/Tanner
2) We need to play to our strengths and play players in their correct positions, Scott is not a right midfielder
3) 442 does not work with the players we have available, and we need to be looking at 433 or 4231 so we can control the game better and not look so vulnerable on the break
4) Long throws do not work, and we need to work on short, sharp patterns of play when the ball is wide rather than lumping it into the box first time
-
Unfort both full backs having poor games and we look very lacklustre all over pitch. Just change Baker for JD, and Semenyo for Martin to give us some fast attacking options
-
Have been told that Pring has agreed new 3 year deal with City which effectively triples his wages. He’s deffo earned it with so many loan spells and starting the season so well

This is so simplistic.
Change anyone who wasn’t great yesterday for someone else who didn’t play & then it will happen.
This is a bloody hard league, I watched Derby on Friday & they reminded me of us late last season, loads of willing kids but just overpowered. I bet Peterborough are noticing that trying to outscore teams doesn’t work, either.
Luton will come & battle, they did so last year & yesterday, when they were two down at Blackburn with less than 20 to go & yet still got a point with a 98th minute equaliser.
I do expect a change or two Wednesday but just thinking a tweak guarantees a win is wishful thinking.
Not wishful thinking my friend, just trying to be positive and giving my opinion and those tweaks that hopefully will get us that illusive win

Bentley
Vyner. Kalas. Atkinson. JD
James. HNM
Semenyo. Weimann. Pring
Wells
Play this team Wednesday and we’ll finally get that home win. Yesterday was solid and you can understand him keeping same team as they won previously, but the team just needs an injection of pace and some fresh legs.
Iv seen the comments regarding JD at left back, but why move Pring back when he’s been playing so well further forward? Semenyo in for King seems quite obvious as King was quiet yesterday, and we need to give Wells a chance to shine as he looked really up for it in his brief cameo yesterday.Overall it’s been a steady start with more better performances than last year already, and I’m actually looking forward to City games again - that’s a major plus considering everything over past 18months

This team is by no means the finished article, and it will take a win or 2 for last years debacle to go away. But on paper I still feel like this is not a relegation team, and still time for us to do some work in the market as I feel someone (probably Kalas) will be sold so we can sign 2-3 players that Pearson wants. We look more solid generally and it’s just a case of getting right players to suit formation. Keep the faith

I keep reading about him having high wages, but does anyone have an idea what he’s actually earning in comparison to someone like Kalas who I presume is our highest earner? @Davefevs perhaps you know?
-
No great loss. Busy bee but dosnt contribute much, rather have actual midfielders who can do everything like Matty James. Prob get 1m tops which may help go towards a L1 young nippy striker we need to compete with Martin & Wells
-
Fair to say we’ll be a more solid team than last year, but the creativity issue remains. That said we’ve had 7 shots so maybe im being harsh…..
The biggest cheer for me will be seeing Baker complete 90min
-
All this talk of attractive, attacking football........
-
Not sure why people are against Hunt already, I think he’s looked solid and links well with Elliasson. People saying he’s out of position but perhaps Johnson is telling fullbacks to play further forward as Brownhill/Pack keep coming deep to collect ball

I think at home it’s brave but perhaps sensible for us to be more attacking with 2 wingers as lots of team come here knowing we will attack and defend accordingly.
Then its 2 out of Brownhill, Smith and Pack, Smiths energy can be replicated by Brownhill but neither have Marlons passing ability or strength so it’s a hard but acceptable decision I agree with.
-
Despite winning and looking more threatening when we win the 2nd ball, this tactic might be working tonight but it’s not the long term solution. Good to see Kelly looking assured but we still look shaky as big holes in the middle of the park which Brum are starting to exploit.
Expect COD for djuric around 65min which pushes Reid back up top

I don’t think we actually played that well all game, 2 goals from Leeds being poor at the back yes but despite that we didn’t really have many other clear chances and too many poor final balls. At 2-0 up we looked reasonably comfortable but it looked like there was no real game plan and more just trying to keep ball and try control the game, but again it didn’t work! Last week and tonight’s performance/result is exactly why we won’t stay in the playoffs
-
I take back everything I said about Brownhill! You little beauty!! Comical defending from both teams at times, but Hull struggled with our Fluidity in last 15min and couldn’t deal with balls into box

People talking about January buys but I’m presuming that FFP rules won’t change in Jan, and it would still be the case that City have limited funds - unless revenue from start of season to Jan (with gate receipts etc) can be used and give us a transfer kitty? Any idea @Davefevs
