  1. A really good interview with the major shareholder this afternoon!

I'm sure there will be a link put up soon, however the main points!

Bristol City costs a huge amount of money, SL makes up the shortfall

He does get upset about some of the (undue) criticism

He has felt like walking away at times, but will not as he is commited to Bristol City FC and the new stadium

AG redevelopment is most likely but AV not ruled out

Bristol Rugby will be played at AG/AV

Money is available to SC and he will back his manager

Invited people to come down to speak with the club if they have a genuine concern rather than post faceless comments on this and other internet forums

Bloke sounded very passionate and intent on shutting a few people up! Hope it Works!

  2. Cut it out you ******* person I disagree with. Anti football? do you just read things that journos say and use it as gospel?

Your that type of ******** that reads Inverting the Pyramid and think they know everything about football.

Mate just ignore the bloke its easy!...You only get to read his drivle when someone quotes it then....Know what I mean!!

Anyway we played well Bryan Baldock look dangerous and JET is defending as well as looking dangerous....So far very nice....Fingers crossed for the next 45....More Tea Mrs!

  3. There are PL glory hunters in Bristol for sure, but many Bristol kids grow up supporting, and wearing the shirts of, the teams of their non Bristolian fathers who are constantly relocated to Bristol from all over the country.

I remember seeing a news story about Newcastle Utd where their local TV station went into Newcastle town centre to interview 6 people at random to ask them their opinions of recent goings on at the club.

Five of them (of all ages and genders) turned out to be supporters of NUFC who were able to give in depth answers, the other was a visitor to the CIty. Basically it seems just about everyone in the city grew up there and supports Newcastle. You wouldn't find Man.Utd or Liverpool shirts up there whichever division Newcastle were in - the support for the local club is ingrained through the generations.

If you tried that with 6 random people in Bristol city centre you'd be lucky to find a single born and bred Bristolian, let alone one who was interested in either of the local clubs.

We may have a big population in Bristol but it is an extremely cosmopolitan and transient one. There will never be 30-40,000 Bristolians who want to watch Bristol City every week, even in the PL.

A stadium of that size would simply be providing extra space for neutrals and Bristolian supporters of the opposition. There would also have to be the added intention of giving huge allocations to the away team in order to fill the stadium as much as possible, along with our perhaps 20k max.regulars.

Doesn't sound to me like an ideal way to support your local club when we might be close to being outnumbered by non Bristol City fans at our home ground every week.

We've never in our history needed a 30-40k stadium on anything like a regular basis, less so than ever in 2013 when the make up of the population of Bristol has altered so much.

But how are we ever gonna convince the non bristolians to adopt us as their club whilst we remain at Ashton Gate?? I don't think a redevelopment would be enough to get these people a long. Look at Preston, a fairly decent modern stadium but it just doesn't do enough to convince non regulars to come along. A new stadium will be all over the news, people will be intrigued and will come along and try it out. Look at Brighton, an area you can say is pretty much like ours but since their move to a new stadium their fans base has grew and grew.

I tend to agree with BS34 here.

Yes as has been stated between 76 and 80 we rarely attracted crowds of over 30,000 I know I was in most of them as was NTB, however that was not a particularly golden age when it came to football support.

In 2013 football (I dont mean to offend anyone here) has become the replacement religion of the country. Millions are glued to any number of games on TV/Sat, where as the 70's boasted two football shows post 5:00pm on a Saturday. The appetite for football is now completely different.

I agree about the growth of the City. Clearly if any city grows it is on the basis of new people coming to the area, however I have personal experience of new people coming to the City and becoming City fans. It is really not that much of a stretch.

The problem is City have served up far to much third rate/tier football in the last 33 years and this is the main issue when attracting new youngsters/old'uns to the ground. This has been under pinned by players simply not wishing to come here and the club having to pay, Super premium wages to get anyone half decent to come and ply their trade at tired old AG.

Yes a revamp of the Gate is a decent enough second best, but I am tired of second best and so are many at the club and in the City. AV will attract visitors and eventually new fans as the transients become part of the vibrant infrastructure of the City. This will impact on players to support the current and first class policy of development from within.

We as a club have an opportunity! We may never have a benefactor that is prepared to put so much of his personal wealth on the line again. So I stand firm that AV is the best option and hope the club push for this option until there is no place further to go!!

Hi! NTB. I will respond to your post just give me a day or two!

  5. Being a supporter of 'Long Standing' This is my two penneth!

AG holds many memories for most of us and it will be a huge wrench to move to a new ground if that is the case.

Nevertheless a brand new stadium at AV is by far and away the best option for the club, the board, shareholders and its supporters.

Much of the funding would come from the sale of the current ground, supported by other sources, which I will assume some of which the Landsdowne family will underpin.

AG is largely an outdated relic of a bygone age, under pinned by the Dolman Stand and Atyeo Stand, both of which have there own limitations.

A new stadium for The West of England is long overdue. Bristol is one of the biggest and fastest growing City's in the country and it has been stated many times that it is one of the best City's to live in the UK. Yet Bristol remains a backwater in the minds of the many outside of the area and rarely figures in the same terms as other regional powerhouses.

A new stadium will give us and the town something to be proud of and I would suggest would help our team as well. Perhaps the next time you see a Man U/Liverpool shirt worn by a local kid, perhaps we should think about what it is about our City and our clubs that those kids can not identify with...?

  6. Me. Had a draw written all over it. Just glad we picked up a point, kept our unbeaten run going, stayed out of relegation zone and baldock ended his scoring drought

Yes a lot of positives....It seems strange to be disappointed we didnt win!!

Two great games coming up at AG! second top and second bottom!....

  7. Whether you agree or disagree about the way things have gone down and the severity of the clubs action, you cant escape the fact that the club has taken a stance and is sending the stongest message possible.

This message will now have to be consistant moving forward as we all know what the punishments are...

  8. What exactly have the players done wrong? They signed contracts for money, the clubs should never have offered it, not putting in any relegation clauses is asking for trouble.

Pretty much it! Portsmouth FC are serial defaulters...Good god how could they do it all again, I believe three times in the last few years definately twice.

Portsmouth's best way forward is to reform and try and get in the best league they can. If Aldershot can come back so can Portsmouth!

  9. Is it just me or has this man re-cemented his position as one of the most arrogant in the game and lacking utterly in any humility whatsoever? ... so here it is... The Route 1 Gaffer view of last night:-

Even with a team dropping into their own half and getting nine men

behind the ball, we still had all the chances but couldn't find the

quality or the little bit of luck to get the one goal we needed.

If we had, we would probably have gone on to get more. It was a great

shame as it was an exceptional performance given what we have had to

suffer in the last three games with injuries. The creativity and

energy was fantastic in the second half.

I suppose we have to accept days like this. It is amazing, just 72

hours before we were striking balls into the back of the net. Against

Bristol City it just eluded us and they came and went on numerous

occasions. It was not just one or two. We just have to accept the

point. We could go on and on with the amount of chances we missed.

That all-important victory would have been well-deserved, the way we

played means we should have won it. It is frustrating night and that

can happen. I have to praise the lads for how they created and

    committed themselves.

We were all very sick in the dressing room as we know that performance

should have reaped us the valuable three points. We have to take it on

the chin. We haven't lost, we know we should have won but we take the

    point and we move on.

Boy am I glad he is not managing us. This guy has had training from The Stasi with his mind games.

The bloke is a to55er but you should expect nothing less from going to places like these from the home manager. We are Bristol City, if you are a Hammers fan you should be beating us 10-0 every week, look at the last 30 years of history.

The trick is to think about it and then make it what drives the fans and the players on, like GJ did for a while ****il he lost the plot) and Wimbledon did for 10 years. Fat Sam knows he has one shot at it and if he doesn't make it someone else will be in there next August. From a personal perspective I hope they get beaten in the Play Off Final 1-0 to a 94th minute Own Goal after the opposition were reduced to 8 men and no goalkeeper.....And I also hope its US

  10. I've voted for Palace

....but I think in terms of helping Bristol City next season it would be better to have a financially crippled Palace in the same division as us than a financially stronger Sheff Weds.

Head says Sheff Weds to go down heart says Palace.

And the really irritating thing is I know you are right! Still the heart should have what it wants sometimes is that not right Mrs. Oxo!

    Come on Wednesday chant6ez.gif
