  1. So The in-line responses are a pain to respond to However. You said “So you think City singing songs about Aberfan is OK? Anti semetic chants aimed at Spurs? Songs about Hillsborough?” Direct quote as above. When was the last time a song was seriously sung about Aberfan at AG? (It’s rhetorical don’t bother answering) You now agree that the Hillsboro/Spurs songs are not sang at AG. Glad to help with what you didn’t say! You got stabbed in Turin lucky you. Did they have a whip around to make sure the job was done properly? Or was that about random football violence I don’t even remember the last time the hissing thing was heard at WHU or Chelsea. I’m pretty sure they will get the same response that Millwall got from the FA and probably more if it happens again The Premier League is televised everywhere However on behalf of all my Jewish friends and relatives thanks for your support at this difficult time for everyone!
  2. I think you May have mis construed-mid read what I said. Particularly as I am always extremely positive about Jerry!! Who has helped me out a lot lately. No one is suggesting BCFC should employ two SLOs, why would you even think I suggested that in the post!!!? However other employees step into roles temporarily at every company in the world as you have more than implied! @phantom did speak to the club regarding the ongoing issues with Bctv video which was helpful and dealt with and responded to Perhaps you can explain why you responded to a seven day old nothing post with such vitriol?
  3. As @slartibartfast says 50 years and more ago is a long time I don’t remember it at all! However question for you both! How long after did he go to Liverpool?
  4. I was chased out of a bar by a (Big)group of Celtic thugs in Barcelona. I was there for a 2008 European Cup tie. My crime being English among a bunch of Irish Catholic bigots Longkesh 89 (yes that was his shirt) and his mates would have quite literally beaten me to death if I hadn’t dived in a parked taxi! Under cover cops have to go to Celtic games to monitor who is taking the money for the cause and where it ends up!! Glad you had a good experience! When was the last time there was a major chant about Aberfan or Hillsborough at Ashton Gate? Was there ever one about Hilsborough at Ashton Gate?? Anti semetic chants. Give me a break! Most Spurs fans sing Yidoes themselves and most of them are Christian. Celtic are a club of people who sing songs about British soldiers give money to the cause/The RA dedicated to killing And maiming British soldiers and some were involved (Longkesh 89 perhaps) —————- Millwall for informational purposes were a club partially formed by Rangers supporting dockers that came to London to work. That’s why they have the Lion!
  5. He broke his toe in an early game for Luton. Yes I remember the commentator saying the same about previous injuries at City and Liverpool on MOTD!
  6. Neither will Glasgow clubs! Wasn’t this the bloke who wore a balaclava (the inference and his statements are clear) during lockdown and posted it to social media or am I mistaken?
  7. @Nogbad the Bad and I are having one of our semi regular discussions on a subject that anyone under 60 need not apply with our memories varying (it’s a thing kids). In order not to clog up the QPR thread I’ve started this one! As in the title. Do our oldies remember Peter and is he a member of the former player’s association? For the under 60s Peter was sold to Liverpool for a decent sum in the early 70’s, but (if my recollection is accurate) got injuries that he never really got over, playing much of his career At Hereford! It would be great if anyone knows the bloke and to have his view on his career with City/Liverpool/Hereford et al (and encourage him to join the FPA) AND give a few of us a view of life under Shanks! Any insights (even the fella himself) out there!?
  8. As I said earlier I remember discussing at the time (with my old man) his injuries at Liverpool and their extent However it seems whoever keeps track of former players at Luton certainly had his injury problems at Liverpool documented as I cut and pasted earlier. Shankly wasn't known for signing duds but there we are! He is still around I believe, I wonder if he is a member of the former players association I would like his view on whether he was a dud Liverpool signing that found his level as you say, and to what extent my memory is right/wrong regarding his injuries, particularly with his leg and to what extent it may/ may not have affected his career. I’ll see if I can find something out!
  9. I don’t agree, but we can agree to disagree again Nogbad. The bloke never got back to what he was before he went to Liverpool. Loads of players pass Medicals after major injury problems but are never quite the same again, as we know
  10. Nope Peter Spiring. Ref from Luton Town FC as above and Harry Haslam taking a chance after the injuries at Liverpool! I remember talking to my old man about it one night while MOTD was on. I was about 10 ! Long time ago.
  11. From Luton Town. Reference the injuries Spiring got at Liverpool in the text. Again My recollection was a broken leg! Peter John SPIRING After joining Bristol City from school, quick and powerful attacking midfielder Peter soon had the scouts flocking to Ashton Gate when he was moved up front and scored five goals in as many games. This led to a £65,000 move to Bill Shankly’s Liverpool in 1973 but the dream turned to disaster when a series of injuries left him still waiting for a League start. Luton manager Harry Haslam then rescued him in November 1974 but five games into his Hatters career he broke a toe when winning a penalty against future champions Derby which opened a space in the side for teenager Ron Futcher. Unable to win back a regular spot in the Luton side, Peter moved to Hereford where he made over 200 League appearances in a long and successful career. Peter still lives in Hereford where he became an electrical contractor.
  12. Peter Spiring (born 13 December 1950) is an English former footballer who played in the Football League playing as a winger for Bristol City, Luton Townand Hereford United,[1] and in the North American Soccer League(NASL) for Washington Darts.[2] Peter Spiring Personal information Full name Peter John Spiring Date of birth 13 December 1950 (age 72) Place of birth Glastonbury, England Position(s) Winger Youth career Bristol City Senior career* Years Team Apps (Gls) 1968–1973 Bristol City 63 (16) 1971 → Washington Darts (loan) 4 (0) 1973–1974 Liverpool 0 (0) 1974–1976 Luton Town 15 (2) 1976–1983 Hereford United 227 (20) *Club domestic league appearances and goals Spiring started his career at Bristol City before being sold to Liverpoolfor £60,000 in March 1973. He did not play a first team match at Anfield, only featuring on the bench twice,[3] and was later sold to Luton Town for £70,000.[4] He went on to spend eight seasons at Hereford United.
  13. He broke his leg if I remember and was never the same player afterward
  14. I hate the international break! Lots of knobs/nobs with nothing to do except play amongst themselves!
  15. I certainly think if Jerry is on vacation (away from his every day duties) someone needs to step in as temporary SLO while this is the case. Jerry is a top bloke and I hope everything is ok with him!
  16. Any insight into questions and answers?
  17. Jerry has been great for me and the fam! Really helped me out. Phantom mentioned he is on holiday to me the other day! Hope he’s having a goodun and it doesn’t spoil his run!
  18. You’re welcome Anthony. Now eat your vegetables!
  19. Does he. Good to know. The point is everyone who comes here has the right to say what they want. No one has the ability to silence anyone. The idea that one can silence another on that basis is nuts. However what does happen is a narrative takes hold and people do not post because they can not be arsed to take the slagging they get. Which it appears to me to be an issue with threads about the Lansdowns just not the way David argues that it is
  20. Dave free speech mate you can say what you want. So can they. It’s a forum Take from it what you will, however right now there is swath of, in some cases, nasty criticism of the Lansdown family and you point to/quote @BigTone and then have the nerve to say it’s not aimed at him! I would suggest that it’s you that is making a big deal of people not going along with your narrative and trying to silence others!
  21. So we have one! Edit: Found it! So @Clutton Caveman has in someway restricted @Davefevs right to free speech about SL on a public forum! I think some of us need a new hobby, including me!
  22. Ok Can we have a list of people who say that Lansdown can’t be criticized because of the money he put in? Im not even sure your premise is accurate! Who are these people?
  23. David. The commentary about a company owned by SL charging minimal interest on loans to the football club is enough. The inference is clear reading your posts. You seemed upset that somehow Lansdown was not beyond criticism because he/Pula were charging standard interest for loans and he was making money from the club. I refer to my previous posts. Lansdown is not above criticism on any level, but get real, the money he has put in is beyond reproach. The managerial decisions he’s made on that basis have been poor.
