  1. Yes it’s often indicative of a club that is close to a sale getting its financials in order while the buyer is conducting due diligence. Not sayin , just sayin!
  2. Oh Dave. Your possible disappointment is duly noted. Im hopeful City inserted everything they possibly could!
  3. God I miss the summer when we didn’t have a care in the world and weren’t awful at home. Heady times indeed!
  4. It sounded like nails down a blackboard to me for over 90 minutes. Luckily for league games I’ve got BCTV unluckily the commentator there is equally as awful if not worse. Perhaps Owers should do the commentary, he gets so bloody excited and I sometimes I think local radio commentary needs to be a bit more partisan
  5. If you going to give him ideas tell him to go get Pep!

    U21s

We have em coming through so I guess that’s predictable. Tomorrow nights team is going to be fun!
  7. Is his mate and his son going with him? LJ to Charlton? Someone will employ him. Talk Sport seem to like him!
  8. Radio 2 would transmit European cup and European CWC games live. I remember huddling around a Robert’s in the late 60s and early 70s
  9. Loved Chris. City to the very core. Getting on the end of the goals against Liverpool was nuts. I was given special permission to be there as I was in “boarding school”. But the bloke wanted to pour forward against Coventry at 2/2 and Geoff had to tell him to shut the eff up and sit behind the half way line. Not so sure about his maths. Kids talk about legends because it’s a 21st century sound bite. This bloke was a bloody hero!
  10. Neat report. Thanks for what you do! For the record the ratings are Spot On! You can quote me!
  11. Yup! The bollox I read about this boy here gets on my baps! Do we need competition? I’m not sure we haven’t since I’ve never watched the other las.
  12. EXACTLY. WE HAVE ONLY NOW got a manager that is putting together a team. And not buying effing metaphorical clubs for a metaphorical bag!
  13. Max is an excellent keeper. Lord I hope he stays fit!
  14. I agree Dave. But our ground was tatty seven years ago. I was at the Walsall game 12500. Got To meet the players after the match. One of my better days. Edit That’s supposed to be me and Aiden Flint however meet my dog Poppy!
  15. Once you have premier league money the position changes. When you don’t it certainly isn’t rubbish it’s a fact of life. Some managers can sometimes have the presence to attract a good player to a shithole but in general the facts are what they are. The yo-yo clubs and pretty much all of the top half championship teams have decent stadium thus it’s easier with that to attract players as you tend to have bigger crowds and are able to up sell more with beer food and concerts more. But hey live your fantasy! That Bournemouth and Luton are the norm!
  16. The issue was players didn’t want to come to tatty Ashton Gate. When Kodjia signed some of the comments in France about our ground were not complimentary. Grey and Gayle were examples particularly Gayle who out right said I won’t go there. Jose Marinio publicly joked about send a player on loan to Bristol City. The club had to look the part to attract players. Of course Covid et al has become part of the equation, but we can attract players from lower leagues with alternative options here now. I don’t believe spending money more than he did on McInnes and LJ et al and not on the ground would have done a bloody thing. We only now have a guy that knows how to spend it and of course like SC the last one who had a clue we don’t have much. To be fair our youth recruitment is excellent and our current recruitment of players is decent. Where is Engval playing now?
  17. This is true. Under his custody we are an established tier two club with fantastic facilities other income streams attracting some of the best young talent around etc etc! But of course you are right in terms of football management decisions he is open to criticism The financial backing of an inexperienced manager that at no time experienced having money really put the ‘tin hat’ pun intended on some poor decisions.
  18. Which alternate routes do you refer to Dave?
  19. The bloke has been great for this football club from the bottom up. You only have to look around you on match day and wander up the HPC. Bristol Sport has changed Sport in Bristol forever and more particularly South Bristol. I personally really wanted Ashton Vale, but that wasn’t to be, but the club moved forward with plan B that provided loads of jobs in a number of industries both directly with the club and indirectly to the area plus first class Rugby Union How are Derby WBA QPR and more than two dozen other clubs that have or are teetering around on the edge paying their bills? Who knows! The football club is an established second tier side something we have not been able to say since before Alan Dicks got us promotion, damn him for losing that status (a little jokette) Mistakes have been made on the football management side that is for sure. Despite what @Robbored might think Danny Wilson failed consistently. Then you look at Tin’s, Millen, McInnes, SoD et al and you think BLOODY HELL what dross. Cotterill was excellent but fell out with SL over funding. Leading directly to LJ! What a mess with the clubs money leading directly to financial meltdown ably assisted by Covid and possible sanction. Holden was something of an unsupported place holder who was like a deer ? in headlights Finally the mess had to be cleared up. Our academy started producing good footballers and we could do a little shopping for some lower league prospects. We now are a club on the rise with a bloke who knows what he’s doing as manager. Yes mistakes were made, that some love to constantly put at the feet of the bloke that has bank rolled the club and the development of the club we are now. Posts like Lansdown should sell up are beyond a joke, until someone can point to a buyer that will safe guard the club and what’s been built around Bristol City FC. COYRs
  20. The Grey and Gayle thing was insane. Cotterill and SL fell out after it….I’ve written enough times about what happened ending effectively in the Sack Cloth saga! SL was determined to show he was right and underwrote LJ who really had no clue except his bloody stupid statement regarding Europa League in five years. The best summary of the period anyone is going to write!
  21. Massengo is still available isn’t he?
  22. We were good all over the pitch and everyone put in a shift. We lost the ball a few times playing out against the press and it got annoying toward the end. However everyone did well. Chances fell to players who should have done better but the new lad Hickman looked really neat and hit a shot on target from range that may bode well. Shame about the yellow card mind you! ?
  23. And his Tombola drum is still in Sunderland!
  24. 5 0 I reckon is the perfect way to mark it!
  25. Kane Wilson was crocked and Looked terrible when he got on! The changes typically get made on the basis of what you have best. KW wasn’t considered rightly or wrongly to be in that category.
