  1. Exactly! He played very well today. What amazes me is our expectancy that the bloke will be head and shoulders above everyone else and people then say he didn’t play well. Sigh. Probably our best player since the 70s. That’s good. Two big games coming up!
  2. And I’m suggesting it’s not. Any offer and he would be gone if the club had its way. Unless we are holding out for the full fiver it’s unlikely he’s one of those. Far more likely there have been offers for a player that is currently doing something. If you are looking for players outside of the obvious three I would look at Vyner and Towler who has gone(who knows if he is included in Goulds 4/5) and another one of our youngsters Then you have a plethora of other players that have value despite being close to contract being up. Bentley and Martin have value despite having six months left. Massengo right now hasn’t much value. He’s an under 21 player that no one else wants consistently. The best we can hope IMO is a sell on clause and he turns into the world beater he so obviously isn’t now!
  3. Obviously no one Massengo wants to go to has made an offer. IMO not one of the ones referred to by Gould. if an offer comes in from now on in and Massengo fancies it I’ll drive him/fly him myself
  4. Massengo won’t make a difference to any club at either end of any table. So January really isn’t likely However If an offer comes in it would be due to more than one club being interested, and if one had a player barely getting in the U21s City would have snapped an arm off to unload him unless Massengo said no. So I think it’s very unlikely one has for him.
  5. Since Pearson came in we have seen the emergence of Pring and Scott. The reemergence of Vyner, Semenyo become a striker he now scores goals (a nod to a twatty thread) O,Leary is number one, Tanner looked good today and so did Atkinson....Yeah Pearson out!
  6. My friend also asks why this forum has so many threads about homophobia/racism/sectarianism etc etc!.? From my friends perspective, he doesn’t care where you put your penis, or what stage of losing it you are, what your color, religion and denomination is outside or inside a football ground. If you play for us your an all around good egg, if you don’t, then your failings maybe reviewed! As our players often are. The vicinity of sheep to our players is often reviewed at away grounds as is their possible Welsh Nationality, their parental position and there mothers profession (a review that often occurs at Ashton Gate in respect of a lady named Irene)
  7. Are Swansea/Cardiff/Newport not Sheepshaggers anymore. Asking for a friend?
  8. Jon Lansdown was originally present and interested. He has become uninterested in the last few years. I guess failure and constant attacks (some founded) can make you yearn for the playboy lifestyle that you could have. As far as for Jons involvement with other Lansdown ventures who knows, but it’s pretty clear SL had to let something go. It’s unfortunate that we are where we are. As one of our Sag posters implied the other day. There are about 80 clubs that would be celebrating for a month to have SL safeguarding the future, and let’s face it, he is the second most successful principle after HD.
  9. I’m not sure I would ever concur with the family vanity project. SL has been brilliant for the club, infrastructure and for South Bristol in general. The bloke probably deserves a knighthood for the effort he’s put in. However he’s in his 70s and we never seem to get anything right on the field sustainably, which hurts us all. I guess we will see if there is a take over in the offing.
  10. Yup. Tinder is quite a breeding frenzy. There should be a football supporter sub section. (There probably is)
  11. WTF do you know!? Clearly negotiating with multiple prospective buyers isn’t your day job!
  12. No it is in fact Brian Donowa. The Louie is a middle name but spelled like that according to Wikipedia. I guess you could argue the second Louie is not capitalized In @Oh Louie louie handle but I would reckon that’s being a bit pedantic. Now what is everyone arguing about?
  13. I would love to see a montage of no penalty decisions over the last few years I would personally send it to the EFL The head of referees and FA! It’s absurd what we have had not given.
  14. Exactly. At the moment there is no discernible head of anything. The obvious silence within the management of all groups leads me to believe there is something in the offing, but who knows what. However the only thing that makes sense from my perspective is a full sale, the structure is tricky, but really isn’t that complicated from an asset purchase perspective. The issue is returns and to whom they go. For example anyone thinks MBS gives a flyer regarding money generation at Newcastle is nuts. Saudi Arabia just wants an image wash. There are many reasons to buy sports clubs.
  15. The issue is I can not see SL wanting to sell just the football club. He’s 70, his son seems less interested by the day and we have silence from the club unless you are the manager of the football club or the rugby club who are pushed up in front of the cameras after every crap performance. The Bears have a get out of jail free card for the Heineken, which is convenient, but Pearson is holding a team together based upon bringing players through from the HPC, not helped by Klose and Martin having hung up their boots prematurely. The value of the other clubs connected with Bristol sport is unknown, plus there is permission for construction that will need to be funded and the strange looking stand on what is the open end could really do with rebuilding. The idea that City could be purchased by anyone and then be beholding to other entities is not a serious option. A lot of upside in owning Bristol Sport INCLUDING BCFC and the HPC, but work needs to be done/significant money needs to be spent over and above the purchase price. My thought is that this may not be (if something exists) a US based interest group.
  16. A lot of talk of Private Equity and Leveraged buyouts. In the USA equity (most have it in their heads this is likely to be an American person or group) Tend to be backing known entities. For example say a known business group with a track record perhaps wants to buy a business or group of business, they would approach an equity house they already have a relationship with. So group/individual goes to say a company , let’s call them Mass Equity (these groups tend to have 500m to 100b under management) look at the industry take a look at the risk and make a calculation of predicted returns. If it fits the model it’s a goer. A letter of intent will then be issued. This could take up to a year in due diligence and if there is a deal in the offing there will be individuals representing the buying group taking a look at the organization being bought internally at some stage. The big sports deal here was the buy out of the LA Dodgers which was financed by Guggenheim and put the bloke who is now at the top at Chelsea as one of the ones in control there. (4.5b) If anyone seriously thinks something is close keep an eye out for people at the club and HPC who are not typically there!
  17. So we have a continued diagnosis and a poster using a professional health qualification. I will report the issue to food.safety@bristol.gov.uk and Bristol City FC Tomorrow morning How to report a food safety or hygiene issue You can report a food problem in a restaurant, a food shop, a concern about an item purchased or with food ordered online to the local authority where the business is located. The local authority food safety team will consider the complaint and determine the most appropriate course of action. Use this service to find contact details of the food safety team. You will have an option to email the team or use the local authority's website to report your issue. What you can report You can report: suspected food poisoning a foreign object found in your food dirty premises poor hand hygiene poor food handling food with visible signs of mould or decay food sold past its use-by date unavailable or incorrect allergen information
  18. Last time I say it. Possible but not likely.
  19. Bloody Nigel Pearson. I told you he wasn’t grilling them sausages properly Food poisoning sickness etc in an hour Possible, but not likely, and I don’t care who you talk too!
  20. I think that’s true. However home fans behind the goal is a tradition that we unilaterally did away with. The idea that we are crap at home for long periods is in my opinion partially due to this. Im an old man now. But the upside is I can remember times in the 60s and 70s that it was intimidating to come here and the crowd would attempt to metaphorically try and suck the ball toward the goal and get right under the goal keepers skin at dead balls. Those days are long gone. We are a way to welcoming across the club and have been for 40 years.
  21. I was replying to the earlier post and their thoughts. However it has to become more intimidating. Pearson himself said for years teams like coming here because it’s all a bit nice. No home end and giving the away the end behind the goal to visitors has been a problem for years and pretty much the only time LJ said anything right/pointed at hierarchy. It’s going to be small margins now and we need as a club to remember that.
