  1. Can’t say I know anything about Sykes, but he fits the profile of the sort of signings we should be making IMO and adds balance to the squad. We’ve been crying out for pace and width, certainly before Semenyo’s return from injury, and if he can offer us that on the right he’ll be doing well.
  2. One ton in eight innings shouldn’t be enough to get into the England squad when others have scored significantly more runs than his total of 256.
  3. You can say the same about Ben Compton and Ben Foakes, too. All three have done enough to be in the squad. Crawley and Burns have both done nothing, despite being on flat decks.
  4. I’m kind of with you, but I view Watford as a just another club who was a former peer of ours but have left us in their wake over the last 20 *cough cough SL* years. Anyway, back to Kane Wilson. Sign him up.
  5. Absolute shambles from Glos, really poor. Get Harvey and Boo-boo back. They got more out of our squad than Benkenstein is doing right now. I expected defeat this week, but not the manner of it.
  6. Time to reveal your charts, Dave? ?
  7. Somerset have got to be looking at 600+ and batting once. Whether they can take 20 wickets on this pitch remains to be seen. They won’t have a better chance against this week’s side.
  8. Hammond’s a terrible slip
  9. I can understand bowling first if, like last season, we’re a better chasing side. That’s how we won most of our games last year. But with the injuries we’ve got, it seems all about taking as many bonus points we can get at the moment and trying to grind out draws. It’s like playing league cricket in the summer holidays, when parents or kids leave your side short, so you get ringers in, bowl first and hope for the best. This is Harris’s last game for a while as well, so our batting will be weaker still after this game. He and Bracey need to stand up. Bethell’s a prospect, though.
  10. Probably because we’ve got no batting.
  11. A really interesting appointment, not one I saw coming. McCullum is a top bloke. I can’t help but like him after watching This Could Go Anywhere on Netflix.
  12. I’m not sold on this deal, but there’s no doubt we need more pace and width and Skyes gives us that option.
  13. No. This is the match Somerset cruise to victory in. Awful decision to bowl first today and I’ve got no idea what that was based on. We had barely any rain yesterday as the speed of the outfield shows. That said, our lengths have been way off so far.
  14. If we really want to keep our best players and Semenyo doesn’t have a release clause in his contract (I doubt he does), City should stand firm and sell next summer. Semenyo comes across as a grounded, humble lad and doesn’t strike me as the sort to sulk if we don’t play ball, and as others have said, he’d benefit from another season with us. I hate the thought of him going to a club like Bournemouth. A tiny club who will return to this level in 2023/24. It would be a step down for Semenyo IMO.
  15. Well, LJ always said he fancied managing abroad!
  16. Mental to think Luton weren’t even in the Football League until 2015/16. While we’ve largely stood still in the time since, their progress is insane. I hope they bottle it.
  17. Hants are massive favs to wrap up victory. Hammond needed to go on and get a ton and it’s all on our last recognised pair of batsmen (Higgins and Lace) now. The tail is long.
  18. Surely they’ll sell Johnson and be back within FFP? Plus they got the cash from that dirty deal with Olympiakos in January, didn’t they? If a club like Luton went up, it’d be crap for us because they’d come back down with parachute payments and have the potential to join the yo-yo clubs. Another smaller club leaving us in their wake.
  19. Forest will be strong next season if they don’t go up in the play-offs. They rolled the dice in the January window and it’s paid off for them to date. I’d like Wycombe to come up, they should’ve stayed up last year if it wasn’t for Derby, and they’d be down there next year. All three of the other sides in the L1 play-offs would be competitive. If Everton come down, they will dominate next year much like Newcastle did IMO. Yes, they need a rebuild but they’ve got some quality youth players who could come in. Leeds, however, won’t be as strong as they were under Bielsa. Get them and their arrogant fans down. All my opinions, of course.
  20. Back in August, I predicted we’d an 18th-placed finish so we’ve exceeded my expectations. With the earlier start than usual, it’s imperative we get the right players in the right positions in early.
  21. I lived in Horfield, a three-wood away from the cabbage patch, and saw so many more City shirts that Gas. Loads of them were kids, too, which suggests the future is red. Your lot in Yate will soon take them off when Anderson leaves. What a signing he’s been for them, the catalyst.
  22. Blimey! Stokes smashed Worcester all over the shop today, plundering 34 from one over to go to his ton. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/cricket/61358196
  23. No surprise when we’ve got eight out injured. I’m not convinced on either the captain or coach, either.
  24. Yeah, we’ve definitely hung in there today. Our batting lineup, however, looks very weak with a very long tail. What do you reckon? Harris, Bracey, Lace, Hammond, Van Burren, Higgins, Scott, tail?
