  1. I’d be surprised if King starts given the lack of cover at both CB and CM that we have on the bench.
  2. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is our starting XI tomorrow. Can’t see King and Vyner starting in defence against Deeney, and Nige has said twice this week that Klose will be involved and how he was thrown in at the deep end at Preston last year.
  3. I loved the brand of football under Wilson, the Tinnion-Murray combo was the nuts. But I used to see Phillips, Coles, Miller, Lita out in town loads back then, as well as Peacock and Matthews in Portishead. They were a team of piss artists. The time was right for him to move on and the bigger issue is SL’s long list of largely bad appointments ever since IMO.
  4. Bar the camera issue, it was absolutely fine watching the Norwich game via the red button on Sky Q.
  5. I wasn’t there today so can’t comment on the subs, but a fully fit Klose and Kalas would walk into this back three alongside Atkinson for me and I’d like to see more of Wilson ahead of Sykes at RWB. Weimann’s form has also been a concern for me, even before the international break. Speaking of which, when was the last time we actually got anything straight after an international break?
  6. Way less. We’ve got about 130 or so to go and have spent £90 on it so far, but have done loads of swaps. I reckon it’ll cost us around £150 to complete at a guess.
  7. One packet costs 90p and contains five stickers, that works out at 18p a sticker and means it’s possible to complete the album for around £120. Even accounting for the inevitable swaps, that’s nowhere near the figure being reported.
  8. Swaps are part and parcel of doing it. We’re doing it as a family, have spent about £90 and need less than 150 stickers to complete. That’s not luck either; that’s just buying packs and doing swaps. As I said, they’ve plucked that £870 figure out of thin air IMO.
  9. There’s no way in hell it costs that much. They plucked that figure out of thin air IMO.
  10. And both have spent more time on the treatment table than on the field. I watched a lot of Norwell at Glos and while his class was undoubted, his front-on action was always likely to cause injury problems. That he got off the treatment table to bowl a spell of 19 overs unbroken was a Herculean effort (and **** Yorkshire, arrogant *****)
  11. The four-day games are very well attended, so definitely book early. The fixtures should be out before the end of the year, I’d recommend getting them then.
  12. Depends what type of game you’re planning to go and see. T20 — you’ll probably find it tough unless you become a member (you can become a T20 member cheaply enough, though); Championship or 50-over — you shouldn’t have a problem, especially if you get them early. It’s a great place to watch cricket, Cheltenham.
  13. Or in a new franchise with Somerset!
  14. The bottom line is we snatched defeats from the jaws of draws. At Lancs and Hampshire, we were a handful of overs away from securing draws. We should’ve beaten Northants at home and at Somerset. We’ve been soundly outplayed four times (at Kent and Essex, and at home to Somerset, and Hampshire). If we keep Zafar for next year, we should be there or thereabouts at the top. Who knows what division we could end up in after the Strauss Review, though.
  15. The key to Northants this year has been not getting beat, as seven draws testify. They’ve been more conservative; we’ve been too gung-ho. Keogh’s a decent all-rounder and both their overseas batsmen (Rickleton and Young) have delivered runs. The experienced bowler Sanderson is one who’s a handful in early/late season. They certainly did rely on Kolpaks and Sales is going back donkey’s years. I think his boy has played a few games for them this year. They’re definitely punching above their weight and, as I said, fair play to them.
  16. We’re not actually. The same bunch of players proved we’re a decent side last summer. They just haven’t performed under the new regime. Northants are the worst IMO. They’ve massively overperformed, fair play to them.
  17. Burnley are the best team we’ve played so far IMO, and I think we’d find Norwich would say we’re the best they’ve played. For me, Burnley, Sheff Utd and Norwich will be in the top six, and we will be in the mix for the top 10 with a bit of luck and if we maintain current standards. Coventry, Huddersfield, Birmingham and Rotherham all will be down there, and I think Reading are in a false position.
  18. If Naismith can cut out those riskier passes, he’ll be fine. Costly errors aside, he been class for us so far and is a major part in the positive way we play. I’d much rather watch us have a go at sides and make mistakes along the way, rather than endure the turgid shit of the last four years. It’s how he, and the likes of Bentley and Vyner around him, learns from his mistakes that matters IMO.
  19. You’ve had some quality times by the sound of it. That Milan side of the ‘90s was immense, Maldini, Baresi, Costacurta followed by Weah, Seedorf, Cafu etc. I also follow Lazio, largely because Gazza joined them during the Gazzetta Football Italia days. The last trip I made to watch them was a 4-0 win over Parma.
  20. I think we've played pretty well in that first half, although I've been surprised at how high our back line has been. Two bad mistakes by Naismith, but Conway and Dasilva (or was it Wells?) missed guilt-edged chances too. Norwich look to be playing well within themselves, mind. 2-0 is often a precarious lead, that next goal was always going to be crucial. Game on.
  21. We were 1-0 down at home to Sunderland on the opening day of the season, but most people forget that.
  22. If we keep up the standards we’ve set so far this season, I see nothing for us to fear at Norwich or Burnley. I’d settle for two more positive performances, where we don’t get dicked, but I really wouldn’t be surprised if we got six or four points either. Taking points off any team with parachute payments is a bonus IMO.
