  1. I like all three, but OSIB is the original in my view.... keep going lads, I know its tough in this turgid season, but we do all appreciate and look forward to the mostly moan fests these days....

I think I have to go back to the Russell Osman times to recall a season that even when we do win the football is rubbish to watch and we tend to have nicked the points, and I am / was a NP supporter...

Massengo wasn’t a 4, playing on his own in midfield.  Agree with the rest though.  Almost impossible for Massengo today In an overrun midfield.  Bakinson offered no support.

I am afraid with Bakinson, he was anonymous, he often resembles a headless chicken (even when he has a good game), and he did again today, you need more then high energy, tempo and hair to be a good midfielder. HNM lacks guile, positional sense, a quality pass, goals and ball watched far too much yesterday. With him and the clueless Bakinson together, we have absolutely no shape and the defense was cruelly exposed time and time again.

Both have their attributes, but they have to play alongside an experienced pro who can guide them.

OK, maybe I was being over zealous in saying NOW but do you have confidence in Fleming and Ball to improve our form if, say, Nigel was given until January 1 [opening of transfer window] to regain his strength? Many have said on here about the impact of long Covid - we could be talking about 6 months, not 6 weeks.

I think Fleming and Ball get one more game, two at the max. They have to shoulder most of the blame (after the players) for Saturdays shambles, poor subs and telling them to shut up shop......... OMG CITY???....... shut up shop! that's asking the impossible of this lot. Against ten men it had to be, use width, run them ragged, use the ball and attack aggressively. we did none of that and became rabbits in the headlights. I think Fleming has been in charge for a win before (Peterborough?), but Millwall was poor.

I think he needs to get a win (possibly two draws) in next two games, anything less and if NP is not back (and fighting fit), then it has to be what you suggest, delay to Christmas means at best a wasted season and at worst going down.

Its mad to think it based on our form, but due to this being a crazy league, we are not out of reach of the play offs yet.... someone coming in and doing a Steve Cooper type job, could still make this a fun season, even if thats just a sniff of the play offs as we head into the final games. (was it Ward of GJ that came in and turned it around, but just ran out of games to get into the mix?)

BTW - love your PODCAST, kept me sane for two years of lockdowns and "not so good" football, Love Ian as well, fab entertainment and love his views on the reds.. dont always agree, but he is always worth listening to.

    Top journalist.
Well done son and ‘ thank you’.

Brilliant analysing, bang on the money.

You beat me to it Major! every piece he has done on City has been insightful and brilliantly written. shame he is the main editor, wish he would continue to cover City.

I like Greg MacGreg, but JP is Prem, the greg mister is L2 (like most of city players at the mo!)

  5. I just have a gut feel (not ITK), that even if there is no press conference, there is more to this then a wild rumour...

I still think that we are going to see changes, related to NP being unwell. even if its later this week.

You can, but it was Alan Curbishley & it wasn’t even slightly funny the first time around.

grrrrr, I hate it when someone replies to one of my rare posts and they end up being right on all fronts...............................I'll get my coat...

  7. COVID is a weird illness and effects people in different ways, I tried to tough it out and realised after a few days you had to just accept you are ill and rest.

NP is tough as old boots and a fighter, but even he will need to rest up.

Wish him all the best and hope he stays on the bus, we need him.

they still sometimes look like they don’t know each other at all.

That's what I said to my sons when we watched them play Barnsley, they often look like one of those teams who turn up for a charity match, with decent enough players, but not aware of how each other play and their team-mates strengths and weaknesses.

its a bit bizarre really and maybe understandable in the old days with tombola team selection and a huge sqaud, but neither of those apply now, yet they still appear total strangers at times.

  9. James Piercy writes (and its very hard to disagree with him!):

For the “why on earth does Matty James start every game” club, watch back minutes 54-90 of last night’s game as Exhibit A in countering your position.

The moment James left the field after aggravating a foot injury, which had Pearson seriously worried about the 30-year-old’s possible absence from Saturday’s trip to Coventry, City’s midfield disintegrated.

Tyreeq Bakinson is edging Callum O’Dowda for fans’ favourite scapegoat right now but, up to a point, he was enjoying arguably his best game of the season so far; picking passes, moving between the lines and giving City’s midfield a bit of extra punch.

But once Massengo was swapped in for James, Bakinson just lost all positional sense and the middle of the park parted for a grateful Birmingham team to wander straight through at will.

  10. Fair play to the fella, amazing record and as someone said, you have to be good to stay in the game that long.

I am one of those that would have loved him to manage us, his record proves he could have got us up and it would have been entertaining along the way (even if the footy on the pitch was not so pleasing on the eye)

i also have heard that he is a lovely bloke outside of footy, no airs and graces a proper blokes bloke....

  11. A quality Championship player, who is performing well, just way too much on his shoulders and not enough support from elsewhere. NP knew this and admitted it, when he said he waned one more player to "put the ball in the back of the net", i think most assumed that was a Target man to go along side him or Nakki. I am sure the club tried to bring one in, but the market is mad and it was not to be.

  12. I was just going to ask what had happened to Gary Probert! we should have guessed! I understand he did a great job, but not a "big name". Have no doubt at all that Tinnion will be fantastic in the role and he is city, through and through.
