  1. Yes but given that if he scores against us means that he would have beaten an aggressive Cancer then the result of a game of football wouldn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. A very good friend and workmate lost his wife to Cancer at age 49 just before Christmas and he was the guy who I watched 'that' ManU game with, so he and his family will be in my memory to my dying day.
  2. They need at least 30,000 capacity for when they get to the PL, hell probably nearer 40,000 given they took that many to Wembley in that famous game where no Grimsby Town supporters turned up at all
  3. Thanks, duly donated. I don't mind saying that I wouldn't mind Nick scoring against us one day.
  4. See Hibs lost 0-3 to bitter rivals Hearts in the cup yesterday, three weeks after losing to them 3-0 in the league. Must be on borrowed time there surely?
  5. Very odd, must surely be the first time a Manager has got a vote of confidence from his Agent?
  6. The stupid thing is that if they had started work on rebuilding the Mem to say a 12-15000 capacity as soon as the UWE plan was abandoned, it would be done and dusted by now and they'd have a fit for purpose stadium. Still not selling out but for half the cost of anything starting now But of course that would never happen because they need at least 30000 capacity to accommodate all the imaginary support that they have
  7. She was referring to the Family stand at Twerton Park, not the Mem. Although I doubt whatever they built at Twerton was any more impressive.
  8. Calm down, calm down. USA needed the win more then we did and you could see that. Unlike me, GS had worked out that a draw was enough tonight. If you don't play well make sure you don't lose, the subs did that. Take a step back, we're through to the next round (we won't lose 4-0 to Wales, whichever combination of 11 players we pick) after 2 games, can rest players in the next game and still everyone is complaining. Argentina and Germany would do anything to be in our position right now.
  9. Last 3 league games (all against good teams at the level) City current position 20th P3 W0 D2 L1 F3 A4 Rovers current position 17th P3 W0 D2 L1 F5 A7
  10. I knew Hibs were on a losing streak, strange that.. but assumed that Ross County (h) would be a lucky break for LJ like he had hear a couple of times here (Rotherham (h) when they were the just about the worst Championship team ever) but they just lost 0-2....
  11. Yes the finances are a big issue but Reading and Birmingham for example, who have equally serious constraints, are showing more improvement in terms of league position than we are. Both finished below us last season.
  12. A decent bloke but delusional if he thought we were on for a good finish when he left. It was absolute freefall and would have resuted in relegation but for the brief bounce when Pearson was appointed.
  13. A man must have his hobbies! I've still got my Hot Wheels track and very occasionally it comes out into the living room.
  14. Milwall is better than I remember but I believe we've beaten Preston once since 2014? [EDIT] It's actually once since 2011. P18 W1 D8 L9 Gulp, I wish I hadn't looked that up!
  15. Next two games are critical. If we lose both, and our recent record against Preston and Milwall is lamentable, we'll likely be in the bottom 3 and once you are there it's difficult to get out. If we win both we'd probably be in the top 10. Fine margins. I don't think anyone is in a position to say 'we'll be fine'. As other have said, it doesn't look like any team is a nailed on certainty for relegation this season and with a possible points deduction to come, we are currently in the s**t as much as any team.
  16. Yeah and you can kind of understand why Rovers supporters are bitter and twisted. In 40 years (or even 130 years) we've achieved the square root of f .all and for most of that time they've been distinctly worse than us. Bristol is what the 5th biggest city in England and we've won nothing of note between us. It's a shocking indictment of both clubs really and here we are in 2022, us in 18th and them in 19th in our respective leagues.
  17. The imagination of children is amazing. My friend Ian designed and built a Railway Building game for England, Scotland and Wales made of a map showing all towns and cities superimposed with octagonal grids, where you built lines and chose the direction of building by choosing one of the 8 sides of the hexagon. Towns and cities even had some sort of relative weighting for population size which we got, I think, from a big old AA Road Atlas/Travel Guide. The only downside was that to achieve the fidelity needed, the map ended up roughly the size of his living room!
  18. The Right Winger of the team with dark bases is being impeded!
  19. Ha ha, Joey Barton picked the wrong person to antagonize there in Matt Rhead who is known for his ahem..."physical and confrontational" style. It seems Rhead wiped him out shortly afterwards.
  20. Bristol Rovers FC 'Cheering up Bristol City supporters since 1883' Or should that be 1982? ?
  21. It goes without saying that some of their fans are oddballs but there are two that have caught my attention recently:- One on the BEP site who only ever posts one thing but posts very frequently -"I cannot reply to this comment or I may be accused of being an online bully". Basically admitting every time he posts that he is an online bully. Another on their forum who is always first to post about goals on the match day thread. This means he must be at the game with something like "FFS 1-5!" already pre-typed in on his phone so he can just hit the 'submit' button as soon as the ball hits the back of the net. Strange behaviour in both cases, hinting at deeper psychiatric problems.....
  22. Aden Flint had a similar start to his time here, several costly blunders and bad luck costing goals and points but it worked out pretty well in the long term!
  23. NP is the same age as me. I'm no dinosaur too.
