  1. Sadly it seems he/she was being treated and receiving CPR right next to the touchline, so it seems pretty insensitive try to carry on playing.
  2. Alex Neil - One of the worst managerial decisions ever to leave Sunderland for Stoke. There is no universe where Stoke are a bigger club than Sunderland, least of all the last couple of years.
  3. No I'm sure you're right but... It's ironic in that I think the only way SL will make big money out of Bristol City FC itself is to get promoted to the PL. They reckon Luton will make upwards of £100 million this season but most of that will go to the new ground. We would barely have to spend anything on the facilities and I don't think we could even attract £100 millions worth of players in one transfer window! How much did Forest spend last summer? But of course right now SL isn't allowed to bankroll the club to such an extent as to make promotion likely, even if he wanted to. I do think it was a mistake not to allocate some of the AS money to the playing budget, if only to make staying clear of the relegation places more comfortable. The game tomorrow could be a pivotal game for this season for me, given our awful record v Leeds. Lose both and I'll be looking downwards. Only Sheff Wed look nailed on to go down so far, no penalty points incoming for any club, so could easily get dragged in to a relegation battle with such a thin and injury prone squad.... Yep I'm a glass half-empty type obviously.
  4. Yes to say this PUBLICLY about an employee who has had mental health issues recently is absolutely callous and absolutely the PFA should get involved, if not Mental Health charities. I find it horrendous to think what might be going through the player's mind this evening. What any manager in or outside football in 2023 should know is that someone who suffers from mental health issues quite often doesn't make the best decisions. The sad thing is that JB obviously has mental health issues himself.
  5. Surely basic English Language competency should be part of the Fit and Proper ownership test. When you launch abusive rants online and misspell the first two words of said rant, it doesn't reflect well on the club for a start.
  6. Indeed I wondered if he was being thrown out for that, if so he could have no complaints Only Chabuddy G can rock the 'tache and ponytail/mullet combo!
  7. When I first started in IT at a pensions company, the chairman was up in the Ivory towers on the top floor. Occasionally he was needed to sign an important document or something. The girls on reception knew to phone him, before anyone went up, to make sure he was actually awake in order to avoid embarrasment. He was something to do with Arsenal too, in the Peter Hill Wood era. Nothing much has changed in the last 30 odd years, across several companies. They come in, spout the usual bollocks, inevitably screw up sooner or later, depart suddenly (to pursue other opportunities), move on somewhere else and the cycle restarts. Usually ex public school, oxbridge types. And then there are the American companies...
  8. Impossible situation this season. Probably smallest budget in the league (FGR's budget last season was way higher than Cheltenham) and let their best player Alfie May and others leave in the summer with no adequate replacement. He'd scored 43 goals in 2 seasons. They were favourites for relegation this season before it started and barring a miracle they will be relegated whoever the manager is. Most of the very small clubs that they could compete with got relegated last season.
  9. Dave Brailsford at British was I think the biggest proponents of 'marginal gains' theory. However as it's subsequently turned out that might have been other, ahem, "methods" being used.....
  10. Would genuinely be amazing if the women get a bigger gate than Rovers for one game this season. 3rd biggest football club in Bristol etc...
  11. It's easy, the agent must be a s***head!
  12. Apart from the season he turned up about 3 stone overweight of course...
  13. Yes watched the first 4 so far and really enjoying it. I did wonder about the standard of the opposition though, can't believe that a battle-hardened top National League Chesterfield 1st team wouldn't have walloped a team of misfits who'd only been together for a few days (a bit cruel admittedly but you know what I mean). Presumably it was a Chesterfield youth squad or something ? That Iranian guy looked excellent and I will keep track of his career. It sounded like he was on track for a promising career at Bolton but he and his family got arrested on suspicion of immigration offences which were subsequently thrown out of court. I can see how that could certainly derail a career! Felt so sorry for the ex-Southampton player who'd had such horrendous injury problems, 3 ACL tears, reminded me of Christian Ribeiro who was such a promising defender here a few years back.
  14. Yes agreed, I've got a bit of medical knowledge (former FIBMS) but bacterial infections are not good in general and requiring surgery, even less so. So potentially a bit worrying but hopefully surgery is/has been successful and being young and hyperfit is always on your side. I need a Hernia op which I've been putting off for too long and this is not encouraging me to go for it. Gulp!
  15. I've thought this many times. Lets face it, City have achieved the square root of fa in, what 130 years of existence and supporting them has been a largely unrewarding activity to say the least. For 95% of that time Rovers have been worse. It's no surprise at all then that their supporter base is so bitter.
  16. Used to be a good live music venue in the 80's and 90's. Saw Spiritualized* there for one of their very early gigs. Not really a typical 'Milwall' band but mind-blowing loud and white light intense. Long 2 Nightbus journey home to N London though. * Probably means nothing to anyone born after the 80's but a reasonably well known band in 90's, popular enough to sell out Royal Albert Hall and Hammersmith Appollo later in their career
  17. The players don't have to live in the town/city itself though. Middlesbrough (a genuine shithole if ever there was one!) players live somewhere like Yarm which is very nice. There are lovely places within easy commute of Wolverhampton.
  18. Can't turn down £20/25 million unfortunately. He could get an career threatening injury in the next game and that would be that. Just echoing others in that it's annoying that it's bleedin' Bournemouth (again)! For most of my life I've considered them on a level, at best, with the Gas for God's sake! It still seems more odd to me Bournemouth and Brentford being in the PL than Luton, who I've actually seen in a top flight game plus remembering David Pleat dancing on the pitch, winning League Cup etc.
  19. The other possibility is that they appeared to have disregarded is that this new investor couldn't afford to buy Bristol City. I think some of them think the new investor is the Crown Prince of Jordan or something due to some speculative horseshit posted by a user yesterday?
  20. Oh well, things could be worse, we could have knocked down the Atyeo and started building its replacement before getting Planning Permission...
  21. One thing about this is that if they eventually manage to build/assemble this thing, when it comes to redeveloping the Atyeo, we can just knock it down and start building whenever SL wants. No need for any of this Planning Permission malarkey, I'm sure our friends from Horfield will be fully behind us... Seriously though, if roles had been reversed and we had done this, imagine the outrage from their side.
  22. I'm pretty sure that a part of the problem is that things like this are done very differently in the Middle East and a few backhanders or 'deals' help 'smoothe through' the processes there. It seems there's a culture at Bristol Rovers that nobody challenges things at all - from JBs communications, to signing criminals, to the owner saying the new stand can be designed and built in a couple of months. Something similar to what was happening here during the LJ/MA on the playing side. Happily we got everything off the pitch pretty much spot-on since Ashton Vale was refused.
  23. Yep pretty much good to go I reckon! Well for the 24-25 season at least.
  24. Yes I don't think the high intensity of the Championship would be good for him at all. SPL would be a good move, if not Celtic/Rangers, one of the best of the rest teams, Hearts, Aberdeen (I would say Hibs but I'm not sure LJ is the manager he needs right now). Somewhere he can have a few 'off' games and no-one would notice too much.
