  1. 2 yellows in the space of 5 seconds? Blatant off the ball bodycheck followed by altercation with Rovers player.
  2. Sadly it seems one of their players died this week and an autopsy was peformed. I'm not sure why they had to burn his heart afterwards? Could explain some of the recent poor performances though. "Barton will also have centre-half Connor Taylor available for the visit of Carlisle after he was cleared by the medical staff this week. “We took him off (against Swindon) because we thought it was concussion,” Barton explained. “He went down and had a dizzy spell. "In the autopsy after that, it wasn’t a concussion, nobody touched him or got near him. “He had like a panic attack. His heart rate and breathing had become irregular. He’s had it in his career before. “Forgive me because I’m a football coach and not a surgeon, but it’s something to do with something in his heart that needs burning. Seriously though that press conference is batsh*t crazy, I have some medical experience, albeit not in psychiatry but I think he needs some sort of psychiatric help.

  4. Luton might have something to say about double jeopardy!
  5. Jacki Dziekanowski 62 caps for Poland, 20 goals. Scott Murray 1 cap for Scotland 'B'. At his peak, Jacki was in a different league to Scott. He wasn't at his peak when he was at City though. The 'Jacki' name is an alliteration on his surname which is pronounced "Jackanowski". Same as 'Ozzy' Osbourne.
  6. Could be the next 'Handforth Parish Council' internet hit!
  7. It's a comedy classic, almost as good as the 'Alan Partridge Goals Compilation' from The Day Today. With the tour de force, at the end, of two morons screaming at each other, about whether it's "Joey Bartons ****ing fault" or "BenGarner's ****ing fault that Joey Barton is ****ing shit" at the end there. Just genius. Sadly I think it's actually supposed to be a serious vLog, Video Diary or whatever they call these things these days.
  8. Did he just give himself the dreaded 'vote of confidence'??? Surely it's time to fold the club, just a total embarrasment to the city of Bristol and all involved with the club. 13 points behind FGR after 10 games!
  9. We absolutely are in a position to crow because thankfully our owner has always played by the rules unlike those that are now reaping the rewards of bending/breaking the rules
  10. Also spare a thought for Aaron Collins who turned down a deal to stay with FGR this season and opted to move to the s**tshow up the road instead. On second thoughts **** him, he's clearly an idiot
  11. After 8 games they are 12 points behind Forest Green Rovers. Nothing more needs to be said.
  12. and the funniest thing about that thread is that the OP is praising the team for only conceding 1 at Hartlepool! Imagine how far you have to fall and lower your expectations to consider that losing 1-0 at Hartlepool, just returned from Non-League, is a good result. No offence to Hartlepool intended of course. Obviously it was their cup-final to have the privilege of even playing such a massive and famous club as Bristol Rovers and they must have raised their game faced with the overwhelming atmosphere generated by the 300-odd away supporters! I just don't get the sense of entitlement their supporters have. They seem to think they are somehow "special". I think most City fans wouldn't think we're anything special, just an under achieving team, from a big city with reasonably loyal supporters, which has achieved the square root of f. all in 120 odd years. And for the vast majority of that time they've played second fiddle to City. So I can kind of understand the bitterness but not the 'us supporters deserve so much better" thing.
  13. Absolutely and as it stands the current Rovers manager has appointnents in court for not one but two charges of violence. Not to make light of alleged violence against his wife which if true, is just beyond the pale but the reputational damage could be disastrous. Entirely self-inflicted too, they took on someone with 2 prior convictions for violence as manager. Just a huge stain on the city of Bristol whichever way you look at it.
  14. The state of West Country football at the moment! Bristol City > Plymouth Argyle > Cheltenham Town > FGR > Swindon Town > Exeter City > Bristol Rovers Shame Torquay just missed out on promotion last season as there's every chance that they'd be above Rovers too.
  15. One thing that appears to have escaped notice is that Gloucester City decided not to offer Leon Clarke a contract this summer after he spent some time with them. They're currently 11th in National League North. https://the72.co.uk/244837/gloucester-city-decide-not-to-sign-former-sheffield-united-striker-leon-clarke-after-shrewsbury-town-exit/
  16. Possibly the most delusional post-match interview i've ever seen. "Everyone's cup final", "we will be promoted" Yeah right, you're 9 points behind a village team after 4 games, Bradford City sold 13,000 season tickets and even Swindon are 3rd and are getting > 9,000 for home games, despite not even having 11 players a couple of weeks before the season started! Barton could go down 4 times in the space of 12 months, 2 court appearances for violence, relegation from L1 to L2 and relegation from L2 to the National Leagues. Plus who knows what other offences he might commit in the next 9 months... Was that a cut on his lip in the interview? Hopefully his wife clocked him one back! Bristol Rovers - "Making Bristol City fans feel better since 1923"
  17. Before the Euros I wouldn't have been able to identify Kalvin Phillips, Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount etc etc I could identify most of the Gas squad from last season, they were legends of Bristol football
  18. Lost out on the play-offs IIRC. Needed to beat Swindon at home in last game of the season to make the play-offs and Owen missed a penalty when it was all square towards the end of the game. But yes Owen missed that one and and the deciding one at Wembley, mind most people around where I was sitting weren't paying much attention to the penalty because a girl had got her tits out!
  19. Working with Joey Barton may not be an issue of course ...
  20. As much as we enjoy taking the piss out of them, that statement and Wael's follow up is simply not funny in any way. It's horrendous, irresponsible and dangerous. To trot out bland platitudes such as the club is against violence in any form when they've employed someone with convictions and pending charges for violence, beggars belief. Still what do you expect if the owner is a man-child. Embarrassing.
  21. That won't be for trial though, just an initial hearing?
  22. I think we have to be a bit careful in claiming the high ground here? It sounds like his wife isn't pressing charges which makes it similar to the Danny Simpson case. Obviously with Barton being the manager rather than 'just' a player, that makes it a bit different and Simpson wasn't employed by City at the time of the offence and the conviction was spent but hitting a woman is the same regardless of who the perpetrator is. I would imagine that he'll be put on gardening leave at the very least until it reaches court but isn't domestic violence difficult to prosecute if the victim doesn't want to press charges? Looking like another huge error in judgment by Wael though, it's not as if this has come out of the blue (no pun intended) with Barton's past convictions and certainly adds to the circus over there.
  23. I'm pretty sure the Pistols only wrote 'Pretty Vacant' so that they got to shout "va...****" on TOTP.
  24. My Grandad was Swindon regular (and went to Wembley) until he was struck down by a Stroke, so I've always had a soft spot for them, at least while we're above them in the league. I'm glad he isnt around to see this shambles, he did live long enough for the Premier League season. It looks like the Wigan situation at the beginning of last season and they pulled through eventually but they had the safety cushion of League 2. Sadly though it looks like there is one club that the Gas are certain to finish above this season I was actually at their last game in the Premier League, in the away end with a couple of Leeds mates. It finished 0-5 to Leeds and we had a stroll around the pitch afterwards.
  25. To be fair, it is quite easy to forget that if they turn over Cheltenham in the League Cup, it will be considered an upset! Let that sink in....
