  1. Don't underestimate the power of this forum. Lansdown Jnr and Snr read it. Steve has clearly read a lot of the points made on here and it's upset him to the point that he admitted he'd considered walking away from the club.

People are protesting about the way the club is run everyday on this forum and for the time being that's probably just as effective as jumping around in a car park waving banners.

For the most part this forum is dominated by maybe 3-dozen people, maybe 50 people.  Who knows how representative it is.

If anyone is going to make multi-million pound decisions by, let's face it, what could be a number of uneducated teens and a few middle-aged bullies then he has less business acumen then I thought.

EVERY forum is full of lippy people who throw opinions around like confetti.  If he wants a true picture from the people who matter then he needs to do that on a Saturday, face to face.

    Goodness me.

  2. One word "apathy" !

Yep. 90% of so-called City fans I know do nothing more than whinge.  They have an "if we're not winning, they're rubbish, and I'm not going" attitude.

Kind of explains why we'll never be like the cities of Sheffield, Manchester or Birmingham when it comes to support.

And I don't believe you can explain it away with past success or failure.  Better explained by white collar/blue collar I think.

  3. people are quick to critise but are not forth coming with solutions,

If there is such discontent as some of these posts make out why isn't there fan protests sack the board chants from the stands and people getting together to see what can be done,

like at hull cardiff portsmouth chester newcastle man united and the countless other clubs fans that try to do something about boards they don't like,

The last time there was real protests in the stands that I can remember was against Laycock when Pulis was in charge,

Stop talking and do something if you want things to change

I agree with this.  However, I think most people have no idea what realistic changes could be made. And there was very little clear consensus anyway on the managerial choices.

"Sack the board" is a meaningless request as nobody can sack them but themselves.

I'm clutching at straws myself for what could/should be done.  All I do know is that our turnover of players is shocking.  I don't think any player who comes here believes they are coming into a cohesive unit with a strong ethic.  Half the players at any one time are newcomers.  Add the threat of relegation and self-preservation is the most likely objective.  "If/when we get relegated what opportunities do I have elsewhere at other clubs?".

I don't recall seeing the team really getting up for it, straining every sinew, focusing their anger and energy over 90 minutes.  I don't want to see individually talented players as such, I want to see a team where the total is greater than the sum of the parts in League 1.  This can only happen where a manager knows his stuff and the players play for the team and not their agents or careers.  How can it be that so many less experienced, lesser funded teams are above us in this division? Its application and desire.

Maybe we've got a manager to do it for us now, though I still very much doubt we've got the players who have it between the ears, let alone the footballing talent.

  4. Good morning.

I would like to impress upon all fans, disappointed by the lack of response from the club to their written letters, the importance of including a Stamped Addressed Envelope with their letter, if they really, really want a reply.

Can I also remind all nostalgic, middle aged fans, that Mr Terence Cooper used to spend too much time writing to fans, when he should instead have been out organising the defence on the training pitch. A case of serious neglect at the time.

Lastly, might I be so bold as to suggest that these complaints become magnified in their intensity and the perceived slight received to the spurned, as they see themmselves, when the team is doing sh1te. A run of poor form that cannot be entirely the fault of the owner and his besieged board. Plus, it is worth remembering, that young Jon has possibly never written a letter in his life, innit. Apart from the one to Santa. Who does leave him a reply, but not the bloody things he asks for (sound keeper, centre half, striker, some luck etc...)

If you are of a mind to go looking for things to be upset by, a football club is a good place to start. Just remember the SAE, please?

SAE?  Are you having a larf?

That is simply not business practice.  I keep hearing that football is a business.  If its going to fail the test at return envelopes then I give up.

  5. It certainly is. I'd say it is only a matter of time before it falls into the ownership of another sporting entity, hence why I hold the Lansdown's in such low regard and wish there was an alternative. Unfortunately the dirt he has created means that the alternative really isn't there. This is why I believe SL is no hero but indeed one of the worst things to happen to the club. Stuff the playoff final and all the good times - I'd trade the lot to own our own ground!

If he chooses to leave the best return will be to sell AG to someone independently of the club.

If he doesn't want to be vilified for eternity then when he sells up the ground has to be sold with the club.

My best guess is the debt will be written off, he'll be shot of BCFC and he'll keep the stadium. The Rugby club will be his toy then.

  6. They need to stop plugging this 5 pillars thing. It's an embarrassment, claiming to have a unique strategy whereas in reality it's identical to every other professional club in the world.

Much of it just increases the chances of winning Bull**** Bingo on rainy afternoons at AG.

  7. I share your frustration squire but the fact remains we are all human and when you change your manager so frequently it is the hardest thing to buy into a totally new way of doing things let alone a 'seamless transition' i keep banging on about that the board fed us when this change was made... nobody believed that except perhaps the clueless board themselves.

This is often true.  You'd hope one of those new things would bring something positive though.  Its a waterfall effect this is.
