I see Bent's   has stated that Nige's criticism after the Brum game, that City are a soft touch, has and is about to provoke a reaction from the squad............as they feel slighted and concerned that their   boss has that opinion       about the team's'  attitude?.     I just hope Dan is right? , as i can recall on many occasions, the bravado and promises that have been made pre match by certain player's, about how they are going to put things right, and how they are going to respond big time to show us all what a good side they are?

I think I will reserve judgement about some of our captain's soundbites, until after we have played a very good Coventry side in front of the 2.800 travelling fans?   I don't expect a miracle, just a wholehearted effort, and an honest competitive display, instead the embarassment of Tuesday night.............I guess we will see if it is just words, or if it will be followed by actions?

If the criticism does provoke a 'response', then it means that the criticism was spot on in the first place.

  2. I've said it before, get Duncan Ferguson away from Everton. He showed he can do it in his temporary spell in charge there, and he certainly won't stand for any of this namby pamby crap we are getting now. Every manager needs to start somewhere, and this could be a good fit.

Lots of people left their seats, I was thinking how many are off to the toilet, for a drink etc and whether any might just walk straight out.

I'm so glad you put the comma after 'drink'. Would have had a whole new meaning otherwise.

  4. To be fair, its not really an option for a club to change their away kit, or home kit of course, mid way through a season. It would open up a whole can of worms for fans who have purchased replicas, etc. I,m sure this has been mentioned earlier in the thread but couldn't be arsed to look.

I know what you’re saying, but after their  goal went in we needed to lift the place.

I was as pissed as the next person but with still 2 thirds if the game to go against poor opponents, I felt we didn’t need to be too negative.

Shame so many missed our brace ?

Serious question, but when all those of you are in the concourse and we score, do you all celebrate madly or just a little fist pump?

I know I posted that bit about having one of the more difficult starts and that.
Well, next week, Barnsley ? Cannon fodder surely.
Well my mind goes back to 1973/4, Palace were coming to the Gate. I was 14, only been going down for a few years and expected to win every game, specially this one.
Palace hadn't't won a game all season, this was November time,16 or so games in, hadn't won. We would smash them wouldn't we?
    Wouldn't we ......

At least Barnsley have won a game already.

Strange how things stick in your mind.

Can still remember the scorer too, Alan Whittle, can also see the goal , down the East End , he swivelled and scored from about 6 yards. Yes its funny how things stick in your memory , even from 50 years ago.

Yep. Pearson said it would take at least 3 seasons to get anywhere we need to be. He needs time.

They all say they need 3 years, or in LJs case 5 transfer windows. It then becomes a never ending project as the average life span of a manager is something like 2 and a half years.

  8. I was at the game the following season,in Division 1 when it was the middle of winter, snow called off virtually every other football league match except WBA v City. We came up with the idea of using the brand new pimple soled boots, specially designed for icy conditions, and slipped and slided to a heavy defeat. Seem to recall loads of Man U fans at the game, as their game locally had been called off late on.

The place erupted - by now there were 8 Eritrean guys in there - "Oh man they are so shit"    "Have they even won a game"  "have you ever won anything?"

"You got West Brom  - you gonna get dicked man!"

    "worse team in the championship"

"lost at home to Forest - and they are shit too"

Yep, not his fault tonight at all.

    Wells knackered.

Someone on another post said Bakinson should’ve been brought on to see out the game….jeez.

Its always easy to blame the subs when points are dropped.  With the options available:

    • Massengo on for a tired Martin made sense, swapping Weimann to play upfront.
    • Scott, tiring, on a yellow (desperate not to trip their player bursting beyond him) needed taking off.  Bakinson or Palmer?  Palmer for me, he tackles, doesn’t stroll around.
    • Wells tired, put in a great shift tonight, who else?  O’Dowda for his legs…had logic.

The problem with tonight was more the shape in reaction to Forest’s changes than the personnel per se.

Funny how none of our opposition players ever look " tired " though.
