I’m just living in hope that it gets better when it’s 11 of his players on the pitch…. The manager of course takes blame but these useless bastards have seen off 3 managers in 18 months and the footballs not got any better. It WILL not change with ANOTHER manager. Players are more to blame.

This all day long for me.

  2. Really interesting debate this, and apart from the odd one or two comments, most have put across their point of view well.

Firstly, those who still don't get the point of view, never will I don't think, as it's been explained perfectly as to what the original poster was referring to. I actually raised this with my fiancée to get her opinion and perspective.

We both have the same view of it. No one is offended by this, at all. It's not offensive. It's extremely unprofessional, and smacks of double standards, which is the problem.

Having a debate doesn't mean you're offended, so let's get that out of the way, as that's a poor defence for the argument. I think it's fair to say, if anyone had taken a video of the women's team semi naked with the emoji, which is basically saying you're getting hot under the collar, it would've been seen in a totally different light, and I'd imagine the club would order it taken down and disciplinary action taken.

The problem is, why isn't it the same the other way round? If its inappropriate, it's inappropriate, regardless of who is being filmed and who is sexualising it.

It's double standards, and that's the point I think that's being raised, and quite rightly too. It does bring healthy debate and discussion, and it's interesting seeing and hearing others views on this, whether you think he's right or wrong to tweet what he did, think we can all agree it's unprofessional, and hard to see that they wouldn't have been sacked if it was a man commenting on women in the same scenario.

well done super nige for getting us over the line. how was that super nige he nearly cost us the win with substitute decisions. But we won thats the main thing.

So even if we win, you still got to have a dig haven't you? Didn't think it was possible given the utter shite you've come out with in recent times, but you're making yourself look an even bigger fool.

I'm all for different opinions, but it's clear you've got a grudge and a problem with Pearson. Any real City fan would've told you they wouldn't care how we won on the weekend, winning was vital. We did that. They rode their luck at times, as did we. It happens. We've had poor luck go against us (Forest) and luck go for us (Barnsley). This ISN'T down to the manager, regardless of the substitutions.

For what it's worth, his subs could've been better, but believe in the project, get off the high horse and appreciate a damn good, much needed victory. Onwards and upwards. COYR

  4. Yeah I saw HNM get a yellow for throwing the ball away. Would be strange if this hasn't been logged on any match stats or anything, as it was definitely for time wasting, despite it not really wasting anytime at all!

Adelaide United player Josh Cavallo has come out as gay.

So many of you will say that it’s not a big deal. But given he’s the first pro footballer to come out as gay, it is a big deal.

I see he’s been retweeted by Gerard Pique. I wonder which of our Premier League stars will give their backing too… I fear there won’t be many.

Well done Josh, massively brave. Fair play. Sad it should be this way.

    https://twitter.com/JoshuaCavallo/status/1453172151914168320?s=20

Fair play to him. Its sad in this day and age that this is still big news, but hopefully it's the start of better things to come.

However I do disagree with one part of your post, I do believe loads of Premier league players will back this and publicise this. Its been all over talksport this morning, so I'd imagine more and more will get on board with it.

I've seen and noticed football has changed for the better over the last 15 years, it certainly isn't the beast it once was, where this sort of thing would've been met with vitriol and hate. There's always the risk of some drunken idiot showing their true colours, but you could get that anywhere sadly, but you'd like to think they'd be called out for it and thrown out if that's the case.

Fair play to him and I'm sure others will now follow suit. Someone's sexual preference really shouldn't bother anyone, at all.

    Genuine question;

Is it not similar to say if I bought a car that 3 years ago someone else was driving when they ran someone over, then the person who was run over 'recovers' and then sues me because I now own the car?

But the car can't be sued, the person can. Whereas a club can be sued, as it's a business or organisation.

I get the idea though, surely you'd sue the person, but as it might be a case of the club knew about the allegations but did nothing, they have a duty of care and a responsibility, within reason, to protect the kids in their care.

Turning a blind eye to a paedophile obviously isn't looking after the children within your care, as they're training with the club, not an 'independent' coach.

Regardless of how much money the current owners have - how are they liable for what happened X amount of years before their time? (Genuine question)

We have this with governments having to apologise for the mistakes made by others 50+ years ago. Offering compensation even.

I have sympathy with people who have been affected by such crimes and hopefully Bennell gets some form of comeuppance in prison, I really do. Yet if Man City were Bury FC I doubt this would be being pushed for compensation so many years down the line.

That's a very good point, and you're probably right. Watching the BBC documentary last year I think it was, about the darkest days in football when this all came to light, wasn't it mentioned on there that someone high up in the club was made aware of the abuse claims but did nothing about it? Memory isn't the best, so could be wrong!

  8. Reading the news this morning, and came across this story:

    https://news.sky.com/story/barry-bennell-paedophile-ex-coach-to-give-evidence-for-manchester-city-after-club-is-sued-by-eight-men-12444619

Barry Bennell is serving 30+ years for sexual abuse he carried out when working as a youngster's football coach.

However, 8 men are suing Man City for damages. To counter this, quite surprisingly, Man City are going to call him up as a witness.

Now, right or wrong, that's up to them to call upon who they wish, but I can't be alone in thinking that with all the money Man City have got, why not just agree to a settlement? We know the horrendous crimes took place, he's not a credible witness, and surely this hurts their PR? Not entirely sure what they gain from this.

  9. Was one of the worst performances I've seen of City in a long time sadly. It was glaringly obvious within 5 mins or so, with the amount of back passes to Bentley that they lacked the quality and confidence against a very good West Brom team.

I can take teams playing better than us, being better than us, but I can't take lack of effort. Simpson when he came on looked useless. Dasilva for the first goal I didn't think tracked back anywhere near as quickly as he should've done.

And they could've been 5 up at half time.

Talking of half time, the fan who collapsed, hope he recovers, couldn't quite believe what I was hearing when the west brom 'fans' to the left started chanting "he's gonna die in a minute". Truly shocking, unless I misheard it somehow?

2nd half was equally as bad as the first, but they utilised the wings much much better than we did.

Their number 5 centre back, Bartley, was an absolute beast.

Didn't expect anything from the game, however I do expect effort. Which I felt we lacked in almost every position. Martin up top barely did a thing. We couldn't wait to hoof it or pass back.

Calling for Nige to go, still baffles me, for many reasons highlighted over this last week. He's a proven manager, who needs time. He also needs some funds to improve what is a rather shite team. Whether he'll get that, remains to be seen, but feel it's incredibly unfair to judge him when he's dealing with so much crap really. I genuinely can't see how any other manager would get a tune out of this squad.

Disappointing to hear the fans getting toxic, it should be aimed at the players way more than the manager, given the money they earn and the woeful performance they've given.

Edit - on a positive, had one of the best curries I've ever had in a lush pub called The Royal Oak, which was a pub/curry house. Spoke to some really friendly WBA fans in there too, which is always nice not having to worry about wearing your teams colours etc.

Wish I could get sacked for £8m

It's mental isn't it. Like, don't feel sorry for him at all, as he's the real winner really, isn't he. Gets paid off obscene amounts of money for doing and below-par job.

  11. Yeah I heard the same earlier. Instantly made me think that some of our fans calling for him to go, had better be careful what they wish for...

If he goes now, we really are screwed. With him at the helm, we still have a chance to turn things around.

Plenty of managers have lost their job with better records than him, how you can be happy with what's going on at the moment is beyond me fair play you must be very easily pleased.

Easily pleased? Not really, I'm just not deluded, thanks.

Sigh. Not sure why I'll bother but I'll bite...

We shouldn't have lost tonight like we did, at all. That's all down to the players mentality. Pearson is by far the best manager we've had at the helm in a VERY long time. He's having to try and get the best out of a team that is lacking in quality and depth. We've got one or two promising youngsters, but 4 years of the previous regime isn't going to be wiped out and cleared in the blink of an eye, when he's been told he has no money to spend.

And with covid, lots of clubs aren't spending in the Championship due to the losses incurred.

Our home record is dire, but there isn't a second that I've doubted Pearson, I'm grateful he's here. Some fans need to get off their high horse and lower their expectations, especially given the circumstances of last season with no fans.

The typical over reactions on here are shamefully predictable. There isn't a fan on here that is happy we've lost, we all wanted and expected to not lose come 90 mins. We haven't. You must be out of your mind to want the manager sacked on the back of that.

I really do wish some people could see the bigger picture, the long game.

But one thing we can agree on, the home form needs to change, and quickly.

OK, but isn't Bin Salman effectively a part owner of Newcastle United? He ordered the butchery of an independent journalist.

This is a new low for owners of English football clubs, surely?

My thoughts exactly. That guy ordered the killing and dismemberment of a well known journalist. All because he spoke out against them. Whichever way you look at it, with other club owners etc, nothing stands out more than 1 person single handedly paying and ordering someone to be murdered.

Whilst I know the geordies were desperate to get Ashley out, I'd be massively disappointed if this happened to our club.

I'm with you some of the way, but playing decent football ?

To be fair in 55 years of watching  there haven't been many seasons when i have thought we looked easy on the eye, maybe 7or 8 seasons out of that.

Most seasons the away team always seem to have had more flair. Maybe its just me?

Haven't quite worked out how to multi quote, so apologies. Decent football given what we were left with under Johnson and Holden. At least you can see the plan, see what he's trying to do. And some of our play has been decent, much better than last few years at least.

Theres always going to be 'off' games, tonight we weren't brilliant, but I still found us playing some decent stuff at times.

Too many knee jerk reactions on here, but to claim Pearson is ‘one of the best managers we’ve had’ with his record thus far is interesting…

With his proven CV, I don't recall us having too many managers with promotions to the Premier league

Pearson just isn't the man for this. It's easy to blame Ashton etc but this team, the way we play and the mentality is ******* dire and doesn't seem to be improving.

I wouldn't be too upset to see him gone anytime soon

Absolutely ******* embarrassing. How on earth can you say you wouldn't be upset about one of the best managers we've had, be gone? Yet previous managers with far worse CV's have been given crazy amount of time to turn things around.

We're finally playing decent football. I like the direction we're heading. The progress our youngsters are making is absolutely fantastic to watch.

We were unlucky tonight in my view, both teams had chances to get more goals than they did. To question the manager is embarrassing, and so typical of some of our fans. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I personally agree with most of what you say despite the many who have since derided it, regardless of whether you are for or against though I do think that as a forum we really need to move on from MA / LJ as I struggle to find many threads where either of them aren't mentioned even now.

Thing is, it's being discussed still, purely because of the consequences its had on our football club. It's set us back years, so of course we're still going to discuss it, as it's one of the most important things that's happened to our club in recent years.

LJ/MA spent an absolute fortune on players, now we barely have a pot to piss in, but we've got an absolute class manager in (finally), so it's all going to be talking points still, one that I think brings in good discussions.

Perhaps we should have a thread for every team in existence just in case it may or may not be of interest to others? Perhaps the lack of replies maybe indicate it's worth giving up?

To keep pointing out the fact nobody comments so maybe give it up.

It's a football forum, he's posted football related info, chill out.
