Not for the first time apparently?

Feel sorry for the lad tbh. Not good enough to play, but for some reason sits on the bench every week. Doesn’t even feature for u21s either.

The lads moved countries for this too.

I don’t know or care for blame necessarily just seems a little unfair on him.

Yep. If he's not considered up to standard then so be it, these things happen. And he can't control how the club presented his signing.

Credit where it’s due, decent end of season run and some good performances in there to match. A real shame we lost those Cardiff, QPR and Sheff Wed games now.

I don’t think momentum into a new season is really a thing though, it’s a new start in August and that’s where we can really judge protest.

Our last two promotion seasons were both on the back of strong finishes to otherwise poor previous ones.

It’s called choosing your moment isn’t?  LM is smart to know when he can use these comments or not.  Nige used to also.

On a good run, it’s exactly the time to push home what you want.

Like you I think it’s the 9 and 10 in, and everything else is a reaction to outgoings.  But the size of squad won’t be massive.

Yep. Conversely, if you say those things during a bad run it starts to look like excuses.

Announced yesterday that from the 25/26 season, the Welsh premier League will play all games on Friday nights.

Dunno why and have they considered the financial implications? If Barry Town are away to say, Rhyl, that's a five hour journey. Clubs will have to decide whether to travel through the early hours of the Saturday, or have a night in a hotel.

Be interesting to see how that works. They do already play a lot of games on Fridays but it's usually where there isn't much travel involved. The league was very heavily concentrated around the north of the country a few years back but with the demise of the likes of Rhyl, Bangor and Prestatyn it's now more evenly spread.

Liverpool have completely choked in recent weeks. Fell apart in the FA Cup, then the Europa League and now in the Premier League. They've gone from looking strong treble candidates, to a season which has totally fizzled out!c Klopp probably wishes he said nothing until the end of the season!

If you'd offered them 3rd and a cup at the start of the season they'd probably have taken it given that they did a lot of rebuilding in the summer, but the way it's unravelled from a position of strength a few weeks ago makes it seem worse. And it happening at Old Trafford and Goodison given how bad United and Everton have been will really sting.

Ha, I knew it was Hinds, but when I said I couldn’t remember which of the two, I was referring to Cheltenham or Wrexham, rather than TB or FH.

Ah, sorry, misread it. Yes it was Wrexham. I think they also had more loanees than were allowed to be included in a matchday squad at the time (this was pre-Hollywood investment) and he was always one to miss out.

I may be wrong - it was a few years ago now - but I am pretty sure we signed him from Luton at the same time as Freddy Hinds.

FH scored a cracking goal away to Watford in the season of great League Cup run, but then slipped down the pecking order here before being loaned out to Cheltenham and then Wrexham.

I can’t remember which one of the two it was, but I am pretty sure his loan was cut short because of an attitude problem, which I seem to recall reading was a touch of ‘Billy Big Bollox’.

That was Hinds. Now seems to be working as a recruitment consultant and last known to be playing for Royston Town.

The silence on ticket sales to date is deafening. Really intrigued to see how many they have sold to date

Especially as they were putting numbers out for renewals for the rugby after they'd been on sale for a day, obviously they were meeting the targets.

    Great post.

My lad is an excellent keeper but I’m also realistic enough to know that the chances of him making it are likely to be limited, and that if he did get into the academy system, he’d be more likely to be one of the “making up the numbers” than one of the sure things. Nothing wrong with that - they need 11 to play a game and 10 of those are unlikely to make it. Thats the game.

But as a parent you weigh up the chance (which even if in the system is small) of making it as a pro, versus the damage that may be caused by being spit out by the system.

Put it this way - knowing what I know, from speaking to parents and also posts like this, it would never be a straightforward decision.

Dunno if you saw/heard the interview that Dean Holden and his son Joey did with the BBC a few months ago, he'd just turned 16 and was playing for Oldham's youth team. Dean made the point that the academy system works for certain players, but definitely not for everyone, and they deliberately didn't put Joey into one because he wasn't physically ready at the time and the danger was that he'd have got lost in the system, not developed and be let go at 16 having lost his love for the game, as he'd seen happen to other kids in his time. Whereas he was able to carry on playing for local sides, socialise with his mates, concentrate properly on his education and be a normal teenager, and now he's making his way at Oldham.
