Gregor has done a piece with Simpson for Bristol World:

Some interesting stuff - particularly around Holden and the structure of the club at the time. Read into those comments what you will.
Yeah, 40 wickets in the series which pretty much singlehandedly kept them in it when some of the other greats in that team were starting to fade.
The ball he bowled to get Strauss at Edgbaston was almost up there with the 'ball of the century'.
Christ that gave me a shock when I saw it just now. He'd only tweeted condolences to Rod Marsh this morning too.
Without question the best bowler I've ever seen. Absolute master of his craft.
RIP
Abramovich has announced that he's temporarily handed over control of Chelsea to the trustees of the club.
Essentially a legal move to ensure the club can't be touched in the event of sanctions or an asset freeze against him.
Simpson is a bit of a cult hero up there so it'll be a popular appointment with the fans. He left us at the same time that the job was last vacant and there were a lot of them wanting him to get it.
I was watching on the red button and there was a bit towards the end of the first half where he got a decision right and in good time and you could clearly see several people in the seats directly behind him who stood up and gave him an ironic round of applause.
David Holdsworth who was DoF has also gone. When Millen was hired there was a fair bit of grumbling from their fans that it was a case of Holdsworth appointing one of his mates as they played together at Watford.
When ITV had the PL highlights back in the early 2000s they would do a review show of that league late on a Monday night then show Football League Extra straight after it, essential viewing when I was a student.
It is a good show, the problem is that it's tucked away on a channel that people don't really know is there unless they go looking for it.
ITV can give it more exposure, plug it during mainstream programming and on regional news etc.
