Upper and Lower Lansdown  looked half full / empty. Loads of empty seats around me in the South stand. Actual attendance must have been closer to 18,000.

I always believe there are around 5000 less in the stadium to the actual figure given

No the others turned and left as the booing continued.

As for the toxic point I guess it depends on where you are in the ground and your perception of what that means. Where I was there was loads of booing, anti Lansdown chanting, fans arguing with each other and that leading to scuffles and punches thrown.

The others certainly didn't come over as close as they usually do. The only other player i saw doing anything similar to Joe was TGH, he was mainly clapping but did also hold his hands up in apology too. Most others clapped or went almost straight down the tunnel. Dickie looked like he was in 'discussion' with another player too. That's all I noticed

TYPE, Not Colin. Type means man manager and motivator. This could seriously spiral out of control.

That would call for experience needed. The structure we have over his head will make it almost impossible to be attractive (except for the money) won't be attractive to anyone worthwhile. Something has to change in how we operate, or with who.

Yep, I have been thinking that if we sack him we have the same idiots picking the next manager BUT the football is so shite it just cannot continue like this. I would literally give him the next two games to show something otherwise we just have to accept that a managerial fraud has duped everyone and bomb him out pronto with the Geordie Snake very close behind him. In fact Sid has got to go whatever happens.

I do totally accept what you are saying, however it's hardly Manning's fault for taking the role is it? From what I understand he was approached by us, he didn't apply for the post and therefore didn't have to 'dupe' anyone. If we were stupid enough to offer a 3 and a half year deal AND pay a decent compensation package for him (as well as the almost 6 figure sum to ditch Pearson), well of course he would take the deal. It was a hasty appointment with not enough groundwork done, but not Manning's doing.

Italian namesake.  I must’ve posted half a dozen times this week alone that both Gavin Marshall and Jon Lansdown said it.

I haven’t waded in on the who’s done better / who’s done worse, because it’s far too subjective.  Most players have had highs and lows.

One of the factors is that when players have had highs they have all been together, similarly like yesterday too many have had lows at the same time as well.

I have waited until now and only after 2 horror shows to start to criticise Manning, and approaching 3 months in charge I think it's a reasonable amount of time to have a look where we are.
The moaning is worse , and would have been similar under any Coach , after 2 pathetic showings against 2 of the poorer sides in the division.

I really think the excuses for getting rid of Pearson, and I use that word excuses deliberately as I think that's what they were, have put undue pressure on Manning. Even though it annoys me now when it is trotted out as a stick to beat the Club/Coach/Chairman/Owner with, they did say we had a top 6 squad and LM was brought in to get the most out of it. So far that is clearly not happening.

The timing was clearly to take advantage of players getting fit. It hasn't panned out that way and now playing clearly unfit players seems like panic . That is not a good look for a Coach.

I think if Pearson had stepped down, sited ill health and the whole thing was handled totally differently, and then Manning was appointed fans would be feeling a bit different.

It's not Manning's fault those above him put such pressure and expectation on him. We may still be going through the same results, who knows, but the feeling wouldn't be so toxic towards the wrong person as it is now? But that said, playing unfit players is pretty inexcusable.

TBH it's like that at the vast majority of league clubs. That said, it becomes a big problem when you get the wrong person doing the wrong job.

For example, when you have a largely absent chairman, who, although a fan of the club, isn't very good at decision making and allows personality likes and dislikes to cloud his judgement. Especially if he has only one nodding dog as a fellow director.

Or, if you appointed a bloke who was an abject failure as a manager - albeit he enjoyed some success afterwards as a youth coach - as an unofficial "director of football" and chief recruitment advisor.

I agree. Obviously in most things it's either who you trust or who you can manipulate. It's telling though how some 'outsiders' quickly depart.

Para 1 - yep, it’s what I’ve heard from a couple of people working there.  And also a lot of people pushing themselves forward, or their bosses pushing them forward to make themselves look better, ie if their junior is getting promoted, it reflects well on them.

Para 2 - I’ve never spoken to Tins.  He strikes me as enthusiastic, bullish…but a bit misguided.  I think in an Academy role you want to be bullish about your young-uns, but he’s in a different role now.

Obviously it was quite a while ago now when he was manager. He seemed quite easy to get info from, he enjoyed sharing stuff, I don't think that's changed. 😄

  9. Whatever the answer is I don't know. I haven't voted yet but am thinking along the lines of the Board put Manning in charge and now they have to justify this by backing him. They thought he was the right appointment, so prove it or lose the faith of the fans.

In a couple of weeks I expect the club to be pushing Season Tickets. It's going to be a hard sell for sure.

Part of the problem for me is that the club do not appear to have put key parts of the structure in place:

    - football strategy

    - football management

We’ve got people in the structure trying to cover role titles, but not job description / responsibilities.

There is a lot of 'jobs for mates' throughout the whole lot. Bristol Sport, the football, the rugby, the foundation, community trust, stewards, in fact every department. Not necessarily the right people with the right experience but who knows who. There are some 'outsiders' who try to do a good job but they really are swimming against the tide.

I was in a situation where I was able to have a long chat with Tinnion when he was manager. He was a hero of mine having been at Liverpool and witnessed THAT moment. But after my chat with him he gave me the impression he was a bit dim, or to be even blunter a bit thick. But hell what do I know, seems he is cleverer than I thought getting in with the right people and working his way right up.

  11. I'm probably going to get battered for this...but I think on the whole Max has looked a lot more confident since Manning.

Yes he has some errors in him, he's a keeper and mistakes really show, but his shot stopping and confidence has much improved, the reaction stuff.  It seems when he has time to think he isn't at his best.

Think you were being over generous with a 3 for Mehmeti.......no threat,no pace, not a lover of physical contact.....so generally a waste of a shirt.

Great write up as ever @Olé, but I think you were quite generous with your marks like the poster quoted above. If 5 is Championship average, I assume, then my belief that there were quite a few below that standard today.

If I am totally honest, I'm not sure if you could find 11 players who played worse across the whole Championship today.

It's not acceptable that after a week of preparation they produce that.

No particular risk of relegation, it will be some nothingness between now and May.

We need to try and put on a show at Home especially, we have 2 games the Welsh sides, Leicester is that on Sky?

We need to aim for 63-65 points and give us some hope. Patterns, cohesion, consistency of minimum performance.

We are miles off it sadly.

It is a bit of a ramble but pretty disillusioning atm.

I can't get my head around how we were so up for Southampton and so opposite for QPR and Weds. Fair enough we raised our game for the cup games but to go from Southampton to this is a shambles.
