They finished 5th, so I really can’t see that as any sort of achievement. They finished below Aberdeen & Hearts who are similar size & above a load of sides nowhere near as big as them. An achievement would be above the sides who finished 3rd & 4th, whoever is in charge they have no chance of anything more.

Really odd that Ross County, one of the most Northern clubs in Scotland have 4 players from the West Country in their squad, not only Owura, but Andy Tillson’s son Jordan, Josh Sims from Yeovil & Ben Purrington who is from Exeter. They are certainly a long way from home.

Relatively for where we have been in the last few years, it definitely is. You have to go back to August ‘19 for us to have paid a fee as large as this & although Atkinson is said to be £1.6m we have absolutely no idea how much of that is based on clauses. This chap is £2m up front with another million based on clauses, that’s a really significant sum for us these days.

I wondered if he was waiting to see how the Leicester manager situation played out in the hope of getting a coaching role there. This morning’s papers suggest it is Gerrard which would presumably put paid to that possibility.

With the stuff coming out about the Abramovich era Chelsea run them close. Don’t like either side, don’t remotely care who wins & won’t watch it. Jake O’Brien joining plus Rob Dickie would be 2 Centre backs, can’t see both Kalas staying & both these 2 arriving & my guess would be Tomas moves on.

Just for balance Dickie had a truly terrible season at QPR & was badly lacking confidence. Can see the logic but he’s coming off a season of real struggle. More a team mate of Mark Sykes than Rob Atkinson by the way, Rob very much a bit part player In Dickie’s last season at Oxford.

Who are basically in it for the money & don’t pull their weight. I wouldn’t want any of them, though Colback you could possibly make a case for.

He’s barely featured for a while, but it still makes a lot of sense to announce him after his loan there has officially ended. I expect this one to be revealed in a week or so.

My hunch is he’s having a short holiday after the Scottish season ended & it will be announced in a week or so.

100%. 3 managers last season, no one appointed yet & they only stayed up because of points deductions elsewhere. Morison signed something mad like 15 players last summer, then got sacked early on & nearly all of them are under contract for next season. I understand why parachute payment sides are fancied more but this is utter horseshit, they are a shambles.

Pleased for him but seeing as he struggled big time in League Two (Walsall fans are absolutely incredulous that he’s been picked) it does say a lot about their strength in depth with a few absent, including Lockyer for very obvious reasons.

What are people basing this on? He’s played 3 games ever for Luton at 26 & about 20 for Barnsley in L1. This is the opposite of how we sign players now, we don’t do so because they have one good game once. Mads Andersen on the other hand if we get the Scott money would definitely be top of my list.
