  1. It’s what they do. 4 red cards this season plus 2 more who have been banned on video evidence after refs missed red card offences during the game. The influence of Barton & his crime syndicate mates.
  2. Presumably the bloke taking the penalty was offside as well? *****.
  3. If they lose today they’ll have picked up 2 points from a possible 21 in their last 7 home games. Imagine if Nige was on a run like that, it would be all over the local media. When we beat Barnsley in BS3 after being poor at home the amount of coverage that run got was off the scale in comparison.
  4. I suppose when your manager was told “I wish you’d died” when he had Covid & was in intensive care for a week by their “loyal & true” supporters the last time they played each other, it does sort of put you off them quite a bit..
  5. Thank goodness for that. Been an absolute shambles for both of them, Yeovil had a ridiculous 10 players on loan, (2 of them arriving after Seb & Josh), one was injured & Will Buse (our keeper) was never involved because they don’t put a keeper on the bench, so 8 for just 5 places. Not entirely sure who is signing all the new arrivals but doesn’t look as though it’s Mark Cooper. Josh actually traveled up to Chesterfield for the game last week but even though Yeovil only named 4 subs he still didn’t even make the bench because the squad already had 5 other loan players in it. After playing & doing well in their first few games it has been a complete waste of time for them both recently, hence them featuring for the 21s on Monday.
  6. He was an unused sub in the home win over Plymouth in April ‘04 but never got on the pitch in any first team game for us & this was his only appearance in our match day squad. Maybe he played for the reserves?
  7. Thanks for the reminder, just subscribed after ages of indolence & farting around not doing so.
  8. Seeing as just under half the UK population of the last census identified as Christian (I’m aware there’s more than one branch of that lot, by the way), so that’s around 27.5m, I’d say having that many followers was more the sort of claim that Rovers would falsely make. Buddhism or Judaism seem more “us”, both circa 250,000 & probably like us they don’t all actually tip up at the temple or synagogue but loads watch online, via some dodgy stream, I expect.
  9. Unlucky it’s due to injury but this means he’s still never started 20 league games in a season in his whole career. Robins certainly appears to like him but they’re welcome to him.
  10. Like Mark Sykes he is very much the template for our recruitment now. £300k for a League Two player who was only 20 when we signed him. He’s a grafter who isn’t afraid of a tackle, with him, Max, Cam & hopefully Zak we are building a good young defence at minimal cost. Delighted for him, seems a lovely bloke too.
  11. We did. Peak Wilson, throw absolutely everything at the wall without any plan (or thought of cost) & still fail in the playoffs. On Bas Savage, I know this is a minority view but I could definitely see what GJ was thinking, he wanted a hard working, physical partner for Brooker & Bas, for all his comedy value, absolutely worked his balls off & was tough to play against, all elbows & putting in loads of challenges. He looked like he wouldn’t score even if the opposition walked off the pitch, though. His only goal for us actually hit him in the face & went in..
  12. Really hope so, for so many reasons.
  13. This season Leeds have scored 31, Bournemouth 6 fewer???
  14. This is spot on. It was only when I sat elsewhere for the Norwich game (under the screen by the corner of the South stand & Lansdown) that I appreciated how abysmal the service is that us Dolman types get. Every game it is extremely difficult to hear announcements like this & why it continues to be a longstanding problem is baffling. The suggestion to use the screens to at least give those of us sat in silence a clue WTF is happening is a very good one.
  15. Not a chance it will be this lenient, he’s talking complete rubbish. Trippier got a 10 week ban for far fewer offences, a certain Joseph Barton got 18 months (he effectively retired as a result). Lots of media speculation it could be as long as a year.
  16. Difference surely is Walker has denied the offfence & so until (if) proven guilty, should be considered innocent. Toney has admitted this charge & so it seems baffling he’s involved. As for the moronic comment above about “whatever is going on outside of football should not get in the way” there is absolutely no chance of a player charged with a serious sexual offence being called up, is there? Giggs had to step down as Wales boss too. Just a typically ridiculous thing to say.
  17. Me too. Players have suffered career ending injuries at their peak but can’t think of a similar situation to this either. As has been said already, unless he’s completely lost his motivation there sadly seems to be something far more troubling involved. Whether that’s mental or physical health is impossible to know, but if I was him I’d come back to England now & get help.
  18. I think it’s hard to know because there are so many variables that we cannot know. Would it have been the catalyst for a bit more success? Would it have looked too big if we’d struggled? I’m reconciled to what we have, Ashton Gate is our home, I can’t get bothered by the Atyeo stand being out of place now, as away fans only visit once & as a 50 year plus visitor now, am happy that it will be the place I watch my club until the inevitable CTID bit happens.
  19. One of Danny Wilson’s numerous baffling transfer deadline day (blimey, remember that? Junior Bent & Nicky Morgan in 89/90, much more like it!) signings that made absolutely no impression whatsoever. Caskey was an unused sub for us several times but he never even got on the pitch. Tony Hey was an even more obscure one. As you say Caskey resembled Beadle after his playing career, the problem was he was still meant to be a footballer.
  20. There is also a good reason why people who only think books are for colouring in vote for monkeys like Jonathan Gullis.
  21. You’re right. He was also the complete opposite of everything that you come to expect as a City fan. We sign our only Brazilian & then find out he’s a bloody goalkeeper, he was only on the subs bench at Woking at that time & yet he was soon a regular as we won promotion under GJ then got to the playoff final for the Prem. Won South West sport personality of the year then as well. Cost us nothing & yet will go down as an inspirational figure & a true City legend. Not sure that I completely believe his version here of the Arsene Wenger business, mind..
  22. I don’t make the “forum rules”.. The thing here is perspective, isn’t it? At the start of the season when Vyner had a decent game there were still some on here coming on & saying that he was shit today, they couldn’t contemplate that he was turning the perception of him around. Cornick certainly hasn’t been great so far in the total of 320 minutes he’s been on the pitch for us over 9 games (equivalent of 3.5 full games) but some are obviously desperate to slag him off, threads like “can anyone think of a reason we shouldn’t substitute him”, or saying that he hasn’t looked like scoring or creating anything when the second goal against Blackpool came a direct result of him & he certainly did at home to Norwich. He’s not being judged the same as say, Wells (who I like) but has been struggling for a while completely unremarked upon, but I’ve been on here long enough to know that. Completely agree with your second & third paragraphs, by the way.
  23. Stoke is the worst City in Western Europe not just England. Wouldn’t look out of place in Belarus, absolute shit hole.
  24. So do I but unless we move one of our 6 or 7 current forward options on, then I just can’t see it. Seeing as we have only just signed Cornick & Mehmeti, Wells has recently penned a new 2 year deal, Conway is our big hope & Weimann is captain, the only possibility appears to be a season loan for Bell, but Pearson has consistently talked him up & I think that he’ll be around the squad again next season.
  25. This is the lazy narrative (all over social media) that conflates our latest accounts with what is actually now on the pitch. Losing Palmer, Bentley, Martin etc, getting Wells to sign a much reduced new deal completely passes them by. I’d be very interested to know the wage bill of the 11 who finished last night’s game, Dasilva aside I reckon it is bottom half in the Championship.
